What a solid solution!

I was one of the people who unwittingly opened all of his caches. After this debacle came to light, I bought a lot of the other stuff I had no intention of buying. Some of them were useful, like IA currencies and trade bars. Some weren't. All that remains is the filler content like poisons and potions. I absolutely don't want to deal with them.

I'm keeping my tome levels at 2000, which means I'm not engaging the content any more. Were there no cap, or infinitely redeemable items like you suggested, I'd still be engaging the system.That's how it plays out when you manage engagement like they do. I guess we'll see how the next season is.

I suppose they are introducing more removable content (Battle pass stuff unless you pay, the Solstice wall dungeon and then the Night Market too), so removing currencies is more of the same logic?

Same. I said in another thread that I feel more pressure to log in and do specific tasks now than I did when we just had endeavors and golden pursuits. It's even had me considering how much I want to engage with the tomes at all, as in maybe I should just put them on ignore, and any tome points I earn will come naturally. If that means I can't buy a lot of the shinies, so be it.

It's the unlocking of the pages that kills it for me. Stuff on later pages doesn't just cost 300 points or whatever. It actually costs 300+the thousands of points you need to unlock the page. If all the pages were unlocked from the start, I wouldn't feel like I have to be on that hamster wheel, running as fast as I can. As it is, I've already decided to reduce my time in-game to what it was pre-tomes, and again, if that means no shinies, fine, but it certainly leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm also reconsidering buying the premium tomes - no point if I can't get the later pages unlocked unless I'm willing to increase my play time at the expense of other things I have to do or enjoy doing. I'm not willing to do that.

Needed to have a poll option for reserving judgement till I actually see it when it drops. I'm not really excited for it as the video was too short and did not show near enough to make a good call.

It baffles me how Zerith-var and Tanlorin were released at the exact same time. There is such a massive gap in overall quality between the two. Zerith-var despite not being the best companion in any statistical sense absolutely has some of the best writing character story and lines of any ESO NPC. Tanlorin... man I tried but she is just so annoying .

"Functioning empathy" - this is either coming from a very emotionally loaded position or from a dangerous moral high ground.
Empathy can absolutely present itself in an unhealthy, exaggerated measure.
What you described and the weight with which you are taking it indicates you may be on the far side where considering making a step back wouldn't hurt, infact it would be very much advised.
Keep control of your empathy, and set limits: fighting to change something legit for others because you are suffering for dead pixels should be one, unless those are on your newly purchased expensive TV.

On the other hand i'm kind of disappointed by the absence of satisfactory blood splatter. I'm enjoying the penguins little squeeks and the fact they run away but the gore element leve a lot to be desired.

I miss the times in Skirim when we had the wabbajack and could turn everything into a critter. Good times.
We need the introduction of an appropriate butcher costume too. Maybe next season?



This said if you impose real world morals on a videogame you should censor all Elder scrolls content.
All combat is murder.
Sheogorath should be muted.
Weapons are disturbing so we should replace them with flowers.

We already have the problem you can't literally criticize anything on the forums or they will replace the term "critique" with the term "bashing" with doesn't even really exist to have an excuse to censor.

ESO is rated as an adult game because of its contents and moral being subjective means everyone has his own. Satisfying everyone sensibilities mean progressively censoring all.

A game is a game real life is real life.
Killing innocent critters in real life for fun is an abomination and the very definition of stupidity but in a game is fun and should even make you laugh.
The same is true for Sheogorath or murdering bandits.

If you want revenge for the critters try playing "Poppy Playtime".

They probably didn't expect the backlash or players leaving that actually like new zones or questing. In the reveal stream there was barely any mention of a zone of new stories. Yet one or two days later ZOS starting suddenly putting a very heavy focus on "zones are still coming/we love to tell new stories". - Talk for 10 minutes what we are going to do
- Do 3 minutes of gameplay and exploration
- Hey, let's halt everything, even though the world is ending, and let's discuss what we already talked about for the past 10 minutes and what we just did in the previous room.
- Interesting boss fight with new mechanics in a very epic cool looking room or arena that lasts 35 seconds
- Oh no, there is more to the plot. Let's discuss for 10 minutes how we feel about it and group up with the rest of our merry band for this expansion and talk 10 minutes more with every member.
- Repeat this 3 times...the end

I wish they did chapters and main quests like they do dungeons and trials where the story happens during gameplay with NPC's tagging along and assisting me, doing dialog during fights and make quests way longer and more action oriented instead of an audio podcast. The tech is clearly there for years, why never use it...
