Are people going to be a bit miffed? Sure, yes.
Are those people playing for the beam? No, they were playing before, and they'll play after.
Also, no one is suggesting lowering it's damage, right? It's the cleave, that is the issue. Just lower the damage on subsequent target and let it hit full force single target, already.
I really don't get how people can defend the beam as it is now, despite knowing full well it's overtuned. Please, guys, be honnest with yourselves .. at this point, it's nothing but a tantrum ..
Of course people will defend it. They like it how it is. The overtuned aspect is what makes it fun. The majority of players care nothing for power creep and making trial fights trivial. I'm pretty tired of playing it, but it doesn't bother me at all. I try not to get worked up over video games. Your suggestion is actually not bad, I wouldn't mind it at all. Beyond repair is also a wild claim but my point stands. They could've toned it down many times already. Subclassing was the perfect time. They didn't. That begs the question, why? I made my opinion clear but we'll never actually know.

I'm not sure ZOS understands what weapons are supposed to look like due to their making the jabs animation a night hollow stave that moves in a jerky shoveling motion.

I would recommend to you the add on personality designer which allows to create custom idle animations that play randomly based on emotes and mementos (Which is also great to make use of them) and greatly enhances a character fantasy

If ZOS would ever want to go beyond that, Julian had certain designs in mind for the series that would always be cool to bring back around into the fiction. I've made a list of his known contributions and ideas below.
Some misc info on Julianos from the lore...
- Julian invented the word "Tamriel"
- Julian created an entire solar system for the skies above Tamriel, including a bunch of planets and things which have not been seen again since TES1
- The Nords and Bretons were originally included in the series in reference to Julian's background as a Dane that spent much of his youth in France
- Julian was a huge fan of Arthurian Mythoses, hence his sobriquet surname (after Morgan le Fay). The inclusion of the Fey Folk in the lore of TES2 was almost certainly related to his love of that sort of folk lore
- Julian adored the Clyde Caldwell classic art style, as can be seen on the box art of Arena
- Julian invented the "Daedra" as a concept, to get away from real world connotations associated with typical fantasy demons. Much of this was explored in Daggerfall and Battlespire
- Julian liked to mix high fantasy or even science fantasy esque material with low fantasy material (see: the Battlespire and TES2's Numidium) for The Elder Scrolls worldbuilding -- the "Truth and Logic Style" already released perfectly fits with this
- Julian designed the Battlespire spinoff game from the ground up, authoring most of the world building and lore associated with the spinoff game -- including the idea of the Empire of Tamriel maintaining many pocket universe institutions to host certain imperial societies
- Julian invented the Direnni family of Bretons during the early development of TES2 (the best perspective on his vision for them would be lore about the Direnni of Caecilly from Battlespire), as well as the Camoran Usurper character (that led to the invention of the Camorian Empire and things)
- The early games featured a lot of Japanese weaponry in homage to Julian's adoration for eastern fighting styles

- Per TES2, Julianos has a temple called the School of Julianos (in reference to how religious institutes acted as schooling centers in real world history), which had a military order called the Knights Mentor
- Julianos is associated with the Elder Scrolls themselves per the dialogue of TES3
- Julianos is said to be a part of the original Aedra that rebelled against Lorkhan / Shezarr per Mankar Camoran's dialogue

Honoring Julian LeFay (the Father of the Elder Scrolls)
For those that don't know, Julian LeFay was the chief creative behind The Elder Scrolls games of the 1990s (Arena, Daggerfall, and Battlespire). Some rumors from back in the day even suggest that Tamriel was a setting he created as a pen & paper game in the years before he joined Bethesda Softworks. He passed in July 2025.
As The Elder Scrolls series was Julian's most famous and lauded work, I think it would be quite cool and classy of ZOS to honor LeFay and his works by putting together some content themed around the divine "Julianos" -- the God of Wisdom and Logic named for Julian. Off the top of my head, an in-game holiday, or perhaps a permanent memorial or temple in the region around Daggerfall (the city-state which LeFay's most famous work was based around) would be wonderful.

The most common setup now is magic damage (increases direct damage by 6%) and class script that generates a crux evey 5 seconds. Though, in the upcoming patch this will be nerfed into only generating a crux if you have none. The 3rd option is entirely up to what your character needs, but for most is major savagery.

Here's a mockup I made a while back of two different approaches one could take for facilitating the transformation:
The left side has the Companion's Werewolf ultimate be a 2nd Ultimate in a different skill line, allowing the player to pick between their Class Ultimate or their Werewolf Ultimate.
The right side has the Companion's transformation be a Passive Ability. In the thread where I discuss this mockup, I say that the Companion might automatically transform when below a certain Health threshold (like certain werewolf NPCs do) or whenever the player themselves uses Werewolf Transformation.
In either case, Werewolf is a separate bar and needs 5 skills rather than 3 to fill it. A Companion will never use Werewolf skills in human form, and obviously we want this Companion to still have a Class and human form abilities, so they shouldn't automatically transform when combat starts. Further, this won't affect the Justice System at all, because Zerith-var's illegal Necromancer ability does not, either.

I also disliked those two quests (and the other Sanguine quest in that overland circus in the North-West of the island). I'd say the rest is better than those three, at least.
You might want to give Corelanya Manor a try. Just follow the road leading South from Sunport. The orc sisters that accompany you through the quest were a little annoying (from my personal point of view), but the background story of that quest itself was rather beautiful. I just ignored the sisters' talking, and then, I truly liked that story. It's tragic, it's not that clichéd, the whole story's feel is basically "early 19th century dark romanticist novel". It has a classic literature feel to it.

Seems like competitive ESO attracts some players who couldn't hack it in those games, like beating your opponents by cheesing broken mechanics is the appeal of casual PvP with a build system, over a ranked esport.
