Wanted to follow up here. The goal is always to provided a balance of more grounded yet cool items and more fun/ fantastical items as well.
We have taken note and shared feedback when some items may push that balance a bit far, like our 4-sword horse friend. (I find this mount fun, but totally understand it can be super jarring.)
However, the item selections are meant to give you the player tools to be creative and have fun. Sometimes player choice will lead to a dancing Molag Bal, as jarring as that can be. But between the Crown Store items, in-game items and in-game event items, there are plenty of choices to make a more grounded experience for yourself and for others if they so choose. Some may go down the route of Sheogorath for a more maddening experience, but they should have the option to do so as well.
All that being said, happy to take any additional feedback to the team for their consideration. Is there a style or kind of cosmetic we have made in the past that you would like us to lean more into?
Thanks for any feedback give here. And please be mindful when submitting feedback that you remember community guidelines.
Kevin,
I agree with many here who posted that the mount-up animations for many of these flashy mounts is the greater part of the problem. The Voidmother Welwa and I think it is the Accursed Recall (the one that looks like a big pink bubble gum bubble) and the Legionnaire’s Recall can completely blind other players. There should never be a time when another player’s action makes it impossible for me to see. Also, one of the new Mount-up animations makes my PS5 controller vibrate. I can’t remember which one it is, one of the newer ones. Controller vibration should be only for something relevant to my own character.
Personally. I think the anchor recall is great, but that’s my opinion. The volume of the recall has been turned down and it does not bother me. I stop to watch it whenever someone uses it. I wish I could have it but crown crates and gambling aren’t for me.
Another thing lately is a pet with lightning type flashy light animation. I can’t believe no one has complained about this already. That nearly causes seizures for me and I am not susceptible to that sort of thing. I don’t know its name but It looks like a small cat with wings. The frequency of the flashing is quick and erratic, very disturbing.
Some players ask for things like a switch to turn off these things not because it is against their personal preference for seeing things in the game, but because it actually interferes with their ability to play the game. Don’t we all deserve to be able to play without discomfort?
It is called commuting. Not everyone has a direct Vvardenfell-Deshaan private jet. I doubt dolmens are threatening to anyone that made it past CP300 or played ever in a group in the last 8 years.NoticeMeArkay wrote: »The hooks are immense magical constructs, designed to break the boundaries between Oblivion and Mundus; they hook into the ground and the great chains attempt to pull Nirn into Coldharbour. Turning a world event into a simple player animation makes it non-threatening.
Meanwhile a recall like this one sparks great joy as it doesn't violate my eardrums and feels natural to it's surroundings. It's visuals can also easily be connected to different player figure stereotypes such as druids, hedgemages and alike.
This enables a players creativity.
Meanwhile the second one is only used by none but freemium players. With all due respect, either leaves fit the char theme, or the dolmen is just nicer. Maybe they do prefer something else. But that's the fun part: everyone can choose!

The distinct identity that once defined each class has been diluted to the point where it no longer feels like Elder Scrolls game. That sense of immersion and uniqueness is fading. Has the team given up on preserving that identity? Has the creative drive been lost? Because right now, it feels like the soul of ESO is slipping away and many longtime players feel the same.
Subclassing is Elder Scrolls at its roots. Distinct classes are not an Elder Scrolls staple and was simply a byproduct of making an MMO. You could pick classes and types of characters but you weren't bound to those decisions and can learn anything you want in the single player games
That's an opinion, not a fact to correct someone about. It might sound legit on a surface but if you're honestly comparing distributing skill lines designed specifically to fit a specific class with having magic schools and hand picking your skills etc. it feels disingenuous at best as it's not even close to many of us, you can read the feedback freely on the forums here, it's not that muddy or two sided overall.
It might have sparked some initial interest but novelty fades away quickly leaving the feedback you're reading in it's place.
Subclassing is objectively closer to how the single player games work than hard classes.
I get why it made this game feel worse because this game has hard classes for 10 years and then they changed it to be closer to the single player games. And they did so haphazardly that the pure classes don't feel as good to play. There a lot of very valid negative feedback about subclassing.
But to say that it's not lore friendly to the Elder Scrolls series is just not accurate. The Elder Scrolls as a franchise predates this game and has been around for a long time. And it is famous for its build freedom and NOT locking you into classes. I actually remember it being a bit controversial that this one did at first although that's obviously not considered weird anymore and hasn't been for a long time.
