OVERVIEW
The Elder Scrolls Online v2.3.1 is our first incremental patch on the PTS that addresses a number of issues in Thieves Guild and the Maw of Lorkhaj Trial, plus the Orsinium and Imperial City DLC game packs as well. We’ve also made a number of adjustments to combat and gameplay, itemization, UI, and more.

We’ve also added the 64-bit client for PC, added improved facial animations and fixed the previous crashes related to the Mac game client, and adjusted how Thieves Guild reputation is calculated.

The size of this patch is approximately 350MB. Thanks to everyone for your feedback and bug reports so far! We’ve been reading your forum threads and posts, and look forward to seeing what you think of this latest patch.

    NEW FEATURES / UPDATES / BIG CHANGES

    64-bit Client for PC
    The 64-bit Windows client is now available!
    • This will fix a large number of crash issues, as well as improve memory usage.
    • The 32-bit version of the game will continue to be maintained for the PC client, and will be launched for you automatically if your OS is not capable of running the 64-bit version of the game.
    • If you want to use the 64-bit client, you will need to manually launch the executable file (ESO64.exe) from your PTS install directory.
      • When Thieves Guild goes live, we will update the launcher so the correct version will be launched automatically.

    Mac OpenGL 4.1 Updates
    Improved facial animations are now enabled for the Mac game client. Enjoy!

    Thieves Guild Reputation
    We updated the way Thieves Guild reputation has been calculated for this patch.
    • If you previously had reputation with the Thieves Guild on an existing character, your actual rank may not be accurately reflected within the Guild, which could prevent you from ranking up further.
    • If you create a new character, or continue using one that has not yet gained reputation in the Thieves Guild, this will not affect you.
    • Templates with the highest ranking Thieves Guild reputation will be available in a future PTS incremental patch so you will be able to freely test the new Thieves Guild skill line right away.

    Cyrodiil Rare Item Merchant
    Adhazabi Aba-daro the Golden will now only appear on the weekends. She will arrive at 00:00 UTC/GMT on Friday nights, and will pack up shop at 12:00 UTC/GMT on Mondays.

    • The Moondancer sword in Maw of Lorkhaj does not currently have the proper visual effects.

    Grouping Tool
    • Cross-alliance dungeons are not currently working when you physically walk into them through the dungeon’s entrance. In the meantime, please use the tool to jump directly to the dungeon.

    Itemization
    • Syvarra’s Scales: The 5-piece bonus on this item set is not currently proccing.

    • Fixed multiple areas where you could become stuck between art assets.
    • Fixed an issue that allowed your camera to clip through nearby structures when using some of the crafting stations in Abah’s Landing.
    • Fixed an issue that was causing the visual effects on some of the Maw of Lorkhaj weapons to fail to display when enchanted.
    • Added a death animation for the recently introduced Heron critter.

    Figure Art
    • Beast race NPCs wearing the Iron Wheel headdress will now have their faces covered as intended.
    • Ancient Yokudan Light Robe: Fixed an issue that would cause gaps between the lower and upper leg.
    • Thieves Guild Heavy Armor:
      • The face mask on this costume will now conform properly to the faces of beast races.
      • The shield will no longer clip into your body when docked.

    • Fixed several stretched textures in the Thieves Den.

    Audio
    General
    • Adjusted the timing for numerous voiceover NPCs. Additionally, some lines that were previously silent are now voiced.

    Combat & Gameplay
    General
    • Updated the tooltips for the Thieves Guild passives to improve clarity and provide additional detail.
    • Fixed an issue that was preventing you from reaching Rank 12 in the Thieves Guild skill line.
    • You will no longer see the Footpads for Timely Escape unless you are in combat and also have a bounty.

    Monsters
    • Garroter’s Grotto
      • Kotu Gava (Giant Mosquito) will now correctly drop loot expected of insects (instead of people).
    • Hew’s Bane
      • Kotu Gava (Giant Mosquito) Broodmothers no longer spawn in packs of 3.
      • Kotu Gava juveniles are now smaller than Broodmothers.
      • Kotu Gava juveniles now die in 2 hits when killed before a bloodmeal.
    • Sep Adders:
      • These monsters will now follow the slopes of the terrain when wandering around instead of treating every surface like a flat plane.
      • Sep Adders will now burrow out of the ground when they spawn, and display a greater variety of animations.
        • Heads up! Tamriel currently has a small infestation of missing texture boxes which may fly over your head.

    World Bosses
    • Thieves Guild world bosses will now award experience when defeated, as originally intended.
    • Thieves Guild world bosses will now scale correctly in response to player participation.
    • Stormy weather is now darker and less obviously magical when Captain Virindi Slave-Taker spawns in.

    Traps
    • Deadfall traps now deal damage from the center of the telegraph.

    Dungeons & Group Content
    Trials
    • Maw of Lorkhaj
      • The Dreadstalker’s Taking Aim ability will now have a more prominent interrupt telegraph.
      • The Dro-m'Athra Shadowguard's Bleeding Strike ability will now have an appropriate icon in the Death Recap UI for the Heavy Bleed component.”
      • The Dro-m'Athra Shadowguard and Dro-m'Athra Savage will no longer immediately use their knockback abilities after Rakkhat's Annihilation Sphere ability impacts the ground.
      • The Void Caller apparitions that appear on the center platform will no longer block your movement.
      • Adjusted Rakkhat's dialogue lines during battle so he doesn't talk over himself or interrupt Adara'hai. Because that’s rude.
      • The Dark Moon’s Jaws:
        • The boat will now be easier to interact with during this quest.
        • The boat will now correctly say “Traveling” when you interact with it.
        • A prompt to “Talk to Bakhum” will now display during this quest.
      • Bakhum will no longer reference a magic teleportation directly to the Trial; you must take the boat next to him.
    • Veteran Maw of Lorkhaj
      • Maw of Lorkhaj will now correctly be labeled as a Veteran instance on the Leaderboard.
      • Player characters affected by Crippling Darkness from Rakkhat will no longer display the incorrect animations.

    Exploration & Itemization
    General
    • Updated the owned, unowned, or empty status of many objects.
    • Added signs for many buildings in Abah’s Landing.
    • The Guild Traders in Abah's Landing now have store names.
    • Added icons for the Lore books.
    • Fixed an issue that was preventing recipes from dropping in Hew’s Bane under certain circumstances.
    • Fixed an issue that was causing cabinets in Hew’s Bane to sometimes fail to grant items when searched.
    • Updated the name and description of the Memento obtained from becoming a Master Thief from "Rain of Coins” to "Coin of Illusory Wealth".

    Achievements
    • Con the Covenant: Fixed an issue where you were unable to complete this achievement (and by extension, the Cutpurse Above achievement) due to Yokeda Sesnit’s Paperweights not being visible.
    • Cutting the Keel: Fixed an issue that was preventing this achievement from completing correctly when you defeated Captain Virindi Slave-Taker.
    • The Lady in the Cistern: Fixed an issue where not all of the rumors about the Thieves Den statue were available, blocking you from completing this achievement.

    Collectibles
    • Updated the tooltip text for any costumes acquired in the Thieves Guild questline.
     

    Eidetic Memory
    • "Book of Seasons" will now appear in Abah's Landing if you missed it on the quest Forever Hold Your Peace.
    • Letters from the quest Forever Hold Your Peace are now scattered about Abah's Landing.
    • Transfer papers are available for anyone who missed them during the Prison Break quest.
    • The ledger and arrest writ are now available after completing the quest Cleaning House.

    Itemization
    • Fixed an issue where the items from the item sets Hircine's Veneer, Ebon Armory, and Worm's Raiment from Maw of Lorkhaj were Bind on Pickup. They are now Bind on Equip, as intended.
      • The other four item sets featured in the Trial - Moondancer, Twilight Remedy, Roar of Alkosh, and Lunar Bastion - remain Bind on Pickup.
     

    Justice System
    General
    • Many NPCs in Abah's Landing now fight and react to crimes properly.
    • The entire Warehouse District is now considered a trespassing area.
    • Kahen af-Jamadin will now react to strangers in his house (as he should!).
    • Additional Safeboxes are now available inside Abah's Landing.
    • Abah's Landing Guards are now more difficult to pickpocket.
    • Bounty pardons will now remove all heat (the red portion of the infamy meter) when used.
    • Updated the Treasure Type of many stolen items to better match their descriptions.

    Quests & Zones
    Thieves Guild Story Quests
    • A Flawless Plan:
      • You will now be able to interact with the left relief in al-Danobia Tomb, which was previously blocking your quest progress.
      • Mamaea will now talk to everyone, including those who have bounty on them.
      • Dying in the chasm will no long teleport you forward into rooms you have yet to enter.
    • Cleaning House: Clarified the journal entry regarding Velsa's requested favor.
    • Forever Hold Your Peace:
      • The chest of Summerset Hills will now open when lockpicked, rather than remaining closed.
      • Fixed an issue with the compass pin for the quest step to meet Silver-Claw.
      • Fixed several issues where leading Dashka around and logging out or exiting the wedding would break the quest.
    • Partners in Crime:
      • Walks-Softly will now run all the way to the ladder during this quest.
      • All group members will now be teleported into the Manor when one player character enters the Manor.
      • Walks-Softly now warns you about guards if you have any infamy.
      • Portcullis will now only open when you and Quen have actually opened it.
      • Once lockpicked, all group members will be able to enter the manor.
    • Prison Break:
      • You will no longer be able to continue interacting with Rhanbiq after the end of his conversation.
      • Servant baskets in No Shira Citadel will no longer show a Steal prompt.
      • The Assassin Beetle in No Shira Citadel will no longer randomly disappear.
      • The Iron Wheel in No Shira Citadel will now properly attack you while on the quest.
      • You will now be able to exit the ship cabin if you abandon the quest while on the Anemone in No Shira Harbor.

    Delve Quests
    • A Secret Shame: You will now be able to target the ghosts consistently.

    Guild Tip Board Quests
    • You can now immediately go to the Guild Tip Board for a quest after completing the quest Partners in Crime.
    • You will now be able to access more types of quests the higher level you are.
    • Crime Spree: You will now be directed to the correct zones to accomplish the quests, and map pins will no longer appear in every zone.
    • Idle Hands: You will now receive proper credit for pickpocketing in Malabal Tor.
    • Plucking Fingers: You will now receive the proper reward after completing this quest.
    • The Covetous Countess:
      • You will no longer receive an erroneous fail message when sorting items.
      • The quest will now indicate how many items you must steal.

    Heists
    • We've re-ordered the rewards for the Daily Heists.
      • Previously, completion would always award a piece of Unidentified Equipment, and completing the bonus condition would add a Satchel of Laundered Goods.
      • Now, completion will always award a Satchel of Laundered Goods, and the bonus condition will add a piece of Unidentified Equipment.
    • Secluded Sewers: Stormfist Infantry will no longer stop on top of the hiding spot.
    • Deadhollow Halls: Fixed an issue where you could loot a treasure chest more often than intended.
    • Underground Sepulcher: The Bear Traps can now be properly disarmed.
    • Glimmering Grotto:
      • Increased the number of treasures to collect to 7 treasures from 5.
      • Reduced the wait times for several wandering enemies.
      • Fixed an issue where several monsters would not give a time penalty when spotting you.
      • Adjusted a fixture that was blocking a hidden room.
      • The Bear Trap no longer fire multiple times once deployed.
      • The Deadfall traps now appear where the telegraph indicates.

    Personal Quests
    • A Faded Flower: Fixed an issue where an incorrect hint to Stop Following would appear.
    • Everyone Has a Price: You will now be able to interact with the table when needed to advance the quest.
    • His Greatest Treasure:
      • Ensured Quen will not spoil the story before you find out.
      • Quen no longer looks violent when she forgives Lady Sulima.
    • The One That Got Away:
      • You will now be correctly directed to the Marbruk Outlaw Refuge during this quest.
      • Updated the quest journal text to remove outdated references.
      • Your map will now reveal a POI, depending on your alliance, to help get you to the next quest target after speaking to Zeira in Hew's Mane Inn.
      • Your quest target now has a quest pip over them when tasked to confront them.

    Reacquisition Quests
    • The Collect steps for The Sailor’s Pipe and Memories of Youth are now shareable between grouped player characters.

    Crafting & Economy
    Alchemy
    • The Major Brutality, Major Savagery, Major Prophecy, and Major Sorcery buffs will now correctly display an icon in your Active Effects UI when obtained from potions.

    Motifs
    • Fixed an issue that was preventing the full book for the Ebonheart Pact style from correctly granting the reader knowledge of that style.
    • Reduced the drop rate of Mercenary Motif chapters. They will now drop approximately one-fourth as often as they did previously from any given rank of Undaunted chests.
      • This change does not impact the drop rates of Laurels.

    Crown Store
    General
    • Fixed an issue where adventurers riding the Pale Velothi Guar would be seated too far forward on their mounts. We've informed the stablemasters of this, and they have promised to educate riders of these noble beasts in proper form. The next time you ride a Pale Velothi Guar, you will be seated properly.
    Art
    • Nord Hero Armor: Fixed an issue that could cause the helmet to look distorted on male Argonian player characters.
    • Sand-Kissed Salwar Ensemble:
      • There will no longer be a gap between your arms and shoulders when equipping this costume.
      • Fixed an issue that could cause beast race claws to clip through sandals.
    • Whisperweft Gala costume:
      • Fixed issue that could cause the strip of cloth on the front of the torso to clip while running.
      • Large-gutted male player characters will no longer see a large amount of mid-section distortion when wearing this costume.
      • There will no longer be a gap between your arms and shoulders when equipping this costume.

    Dungeons & Group Content
    Dragonstar Arena
    • The following enemies can no longer critically hit you:
      • Anal’a Tu’wha
      • Bloodwraith Kyngalds

    Exploration & Itemization
    General
    • Loot received from Trials will now scale with your level, up to the level of the monsters in the Trial.
    • Updated the value of many of the named items that drop from Bosses throughout the world. These items are now worth gold, and can be sold to vendors.
    • Fixed an issue that was causing some dyed items to lose their bound status in certain cases.

    Achievements
    • Updated the text for achievements in the Champion subcategory to match the number of points needed to acquire these achievements. 
      • Known Issue: The “Robust Destiny” achievement indicates it requires 600 Champion Points, instead of 100.

    Item Sets
    • Fixed an issue where the new AvA item sets (Vicious Death, Robes of Transmutation, Markman’s Crest, Leki’s Focus, Fasalla’s Guile, and Warrior’s Fury) did not come with a default enchantment.
    • Fixed an issue where the new Trial and world dropped sets (Bahraha’s Curse, Syvarra’s Scales, Moondancer, Twilight Remedy, Roar of Alkosh, and Lunar Bastion) did not come with a default enchantment.
    • Mark of the Pariah: Fixed an issue where this item set was inconsistently recalculating its bonus whenever you gained or lost Health.
    • Vicious Death: Fixed an issue where this item set’s damage proc did not follow standard area of effect damage guidelines, and was doing full damage to all targets hit.
    • Warrior’s Fury: Fixed an issue where this item set would proc its Weapon Damage bonus when you were critically healed. It now procs when you receive critical damage as intended.

    Mementos
    • Fixed an issue with Lodorr’s Crown, which caused him to appear facing away from you.

    Justice System
    General
    • Improved the wording of various Justice-related help and tutorial text windows.
    • Updated the icons for various stolen treasures to better match their descriptions.
    • Fixed several minor typos and text issues in the names and tooltips for stolen treasures.

    UI
    General
    • You will now receive an error message when you try to use a Memento in an area where you aren't allowed to use it, such as in Cyrodiil or the Imperial City.
    • Fixed an issue where you would receive a UI error if you pressed the keybinds for "Accept" and "Hide" at the same time during the prompt to teleport to a dungeon.
    • Fixed an issue where rapidly clicking a map pin when teleporting or respawning would cause your mouse to not function.
    • Fixed an issue where the UI could crash when an Assistant would come off cooldown while you were in a menu.
    • Fixed an issue where Collectibles in the Mementos category would display "Trophy" on their tooltip instead of "Memento."
    • Updated the text within the DLC Collections menu from "Unlock Permanently" to "Open Crown Store" to better reflect the button's function.
    • "Repair All," "Buy Multiple," and "Sell All Junk" windows will now be dismissed when then vendor UI automatically closes.
    • You will now hear a sound when repairing all items.

    Alliance War
    • The cooldown timer for Forward Camps will now display two values and be consistent with other timers.
    • Adjusted various Siege weapon tooltips to display more detailed information when you are hit with duration effects.

    Crafting
    • The alchemy and provisioning UI will now display the proper message when creating items.

    Gamepad Mode
    • Fixed an issue where your keybinds would not refresh properly while browsing a Guild Trader.
    • The text for the Crown Mimic Stone will no longer overlap with your keybinds while crafting items.
    • You will now be asked for confirmation when repairing all items.
    • Fixed an issue where you could attempt to buy your own listings from a Guild Trader, which would generate a “Could not find specified item” error message.

    Gameplay
    • Removed the option to turn off the Magelight graphics settings with the recent changes made to the ability.

    Grouping Tool
    • Fixed an issue where you were unable to join the queue for an Alliance War group in certain cases.
    • Fixed an issue where a manually-invited group member would not have a role icon next to their name.

    Scrolling Combat Text
    • Fixed an issue where the SCT was appearing too high when fighting a Lamia.

    no changes to any of the balance issues that were modified in the original update?
    looks like the changes we got last week will be here to stay until it goes live

    We'll be making some balance changes to abilities in the next incremental (next week) to address some feedback we've seen, and plan on making a forum thread about it in the next day or so you loop you guys in.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno When attempting the new Trial on veteran, members of my group are constantly crashing. Every single person crashes at least 3-10 times per hour. Are you guys aware of this issue? Was anything done about that in this patch?

    "Summon Unstable Familiar: The pets summoned from this ability and its morphs can no longer be dismissed by holding down the button. The pet can now be dismissed by removing the buff from your Active Effects window.

    Summon Winged Twilight: The pets summoned from this ability and its morphs can no longer be dismissed by holding down the button. The pet can now be dismissed by removing the buff from your Active Effects window."

    I didn't know during the first run of pts you could dismiss pets given that line of text was more out of the way. This just sounds tedious and I really hope there was a good reason for that. If pets are unable to sneak in pvp this change will be far more frustrating than anything else.

    Also, during the next eso live will there be any specifics about potential templar, stam sorc, or heavy armor changes? Those are kind of being left out and are felt ignored. I'm still waiting from last year as to what direction wrobel's team plans to bring stam sorcs in particular and at this point it seems like they have no plans.

    Yes, we're very much aware. We implemented a potential fix in this patch, though since we were unable to reproduce any of the crashes internally in the first place, don't want to promise that it's actually fixed. We'd love to hear from you (or anyone that previously had issues with the crashing) if you still find it to be an issue with this patch.

    Tell wrobel and Co, that they either should buff heavy, or get rid of that *** armor.

    But we al lknow that eric is against mitigation builds and blocking. Sad to read that in a action based mmo.
    Also revert the changes to light and medium, let light be 25% of heavy and medium 35%. So players have to make a tradeoff for so many offensive options....

    We're still investigating the root cause of this issue. Unfortunately we don't have a fix for this patch, but we are very aware and still working on it.

    Are they thinking of tweaking the igneous weapon morph to give an extra buff to the caster such as heavy attack damage? This would greatly benefit Stam dks that would like to not use a 2h. I don't really expect a reply but I thought I would bring this up as much as
    possible, so that it might be addressed.
