Threat has been detected (Avast)

I already read about two people getting the same Avast virus detection as I did. Anyone else having this problem?
Every single forum page I access, I get an Avast virus (malware) detection: "threat has been detected"

I have reported this to Zenimax.

Antiviruses usually do false positives as well.

The problem is you are using Avast. It's a terrible free antivirus program. I remember reading threads about people having the exact same issues when WoW released a patch and Avast would say that a threat was detected.

Just go into the Avast options and allow the ESO.exe file to be allowed to run or just go ahead and uninstall Avast and find a better antivirus software.

They're talking about this forum website, not eso.exe

I thought Avast was the virus... But anyways you don't trust a free anti virus.

Is Avast one of these AV where you can report a site as dangerous? Chances are some people have done so maliciously (or someone has been posting links to dodgy content), and it'll take a while for it to be reflagged as safe.

well i use avast since 12 years ago and my pcs weren't affected by any virus. Now maybe i'm lucky. But that is what an antivirus is supposed to do. Norton and macafee those are 2 viruses

Just checked on my other PC which has AVG... no warnings so must just be Avast?

I had the exact same warning, been using a lot of removal tools to search and clean my system (Spybot, Adwcleaner, Hitman Pro etc). But it still pops up only on this site even when my system is clean. So I think Darzil is right about someone reporting this site. It's annoying though, dings every time I open a new page. :\

Though I would advice everyone not to visit your account page on this website till it's stated safe, you'll never know for sure if it's really a false-positive or a real threat.

The problem is you ar using a free anti virus program, they are not good. They hardly protect against anything. Get GData.

That's not always the case, there are free antivirus programs that perform/detect a lot more than some paid ones (Mcafee, Norton for instance in 2013, don't know the exact number as of 2014).

    Hey folks,

Our Security Team has confirmed that this is a false positive, so nothing to be alarmed about. We're still looking into what is triggering the false positive and will update this thread when we know more.

Support was quick to jump on this, thank you. I don't know who fixed it (Avast or EOS) but I was glad to see a response here.
