Did you happen to be at the blacksmith in daggerfall last night? Perfect example of what you just said. There was a "naked men dance party" going on and they were all up on the smithing tables doing push ups on each other and blasting boy George songs. The stuff they were saying in voice chat would have been horribly offensive for most people but I'm so desensitized to our modern society I don't even care anymore. Lol

Wasnt there but I think I ran onto that group before, learned some jokes from them that were guaranteed to offend almost everyone.. But being rather desensitized myself, I just ignored it and got out of there as soon as I could.
However, I had left Xbox ESO sometime ago as I found the lack of ability to do things that are so easily done on PC theyre taken for granted, but left out of the console version due to lack of text chat, to be rather frustrating.
But the other day I had to go back onto Xbox, as my PC characters all had a skill reset, and since they were copied to Xbox, figured I could maybe refresh my memory there.
In Davons Watch, there was a kid there that even the most desensitized of us just couldnt ignore. He just continuously screamed non-stop into the mic as he ran back and forth, with no signs of quitting. Im not talking about ranting, there were no words involved, just screaming.
To the frustration of many, he could not be muted in normal way of bring up his gamer card from list of people in area chat. It just came up with gamer card not available.
Someone suggested (after a few attempts since he had to try to out-scream the screamer) that if we could click on him to bring up the menu, we maybe could get a gamer card to come up from there.
But I suspect the screamer was onto us, which is probably why he was running in circles like that, and if anyone came near him he would quickly dodge out of their way. I gave up, just finished noting my skills and left, back to PC where one may run into such an idiot (though not as often as on console it seems) but at least they are quiet about it and much easier to ignore

Good combat (for an MMO very good)
Amazingly open huge world to explore, lots of interesting strangers and places
Great character creation and interesting skill progression
Had to grind quests a few days to afford a horse.. lol awesome!
No minimap.. Yess!
No potion spam.. good!
Stealthplay.. not bad at all
Crafting.. Yep
I could carry on..
Oh did I mention an amazingly open huge world full of other players?
9/10 game
No text chat
6/10 game

Id say that, as an MMO vet like myself, making a total review in just one weeks time would be a tad too soon.
Have you reached end game? Have you done PVP at VR14? Have you completed all dungeons? Have you completed Dragonstar Arena?
Have you actually sold things that VR players buy?
Have you joined and played with guilds and it's members that you've enjoyed and get along with?
Have you maxed out any craftskills yet?
How many end game sets do you know about? Or any sets of gear for that matter?
Did you complete the main story?
So many things to do, that a lot of us have done with out text chat.
Please, do your self a favor, and keep pushing through. When you've done a majority of what I've mentioned, then please, make an assessment. But I feel your review is premature from barely scraping this game.

And another thing, I wish these wise all knowing devs would actually try to play the game, on console, from scratch, alone and without chat buddies - like most people start.. and imagine themselves as a noob to the game, and just see how inaccessible communication is. Inaccessible, awkward, futile.
Been playing for over a week now with virtually no communication with other players still. No interaction, I just watch them run through my world like the player visions in Dark Souls.
Occasionally someone will stop for a few moments nearby, we stand around awkwardly looking at each other for a minute until one of us leaves, because effectively, in this world, most people are mute.
The more I think about it, the more disgraceful this situation seems.
If consoles diddn't support usb keyboards then this leaving out the chatbox would make some sense, but we know these keyboards work fine on our machines and they're dirt cheap.
If this was some kind of brave experiment... kudos for trying, really.. but it has failed, time to address that.
Final point, I wonder how pc users would feel if their game had no chatbox and their only form of communication was voice chat, I wonder how many would welcome that, some would for sure, but the majority would puke.
I got by just fine without a keyboard on my ps4 with the other MMOs that I played. Just like typing on a real keyboard, you need practice... Btw, we don't need text chat in the middle of a dungeon run, that's what mica are for. We need text chat for LFG and trade functions

I liked the old thin ones. I set them to only show when injured anyways.

I do think the guy who created this thread said he would change the title when IC hits. I don't know why he does not just change it now, but everyone who post or follows this thread know this is more about text coming to the game at some point not when IC hits. I just hope the creator of this thread still logs on and follows this thread.
