Text chat will not be implemented in the imperial city.
It should not be anywhere ahead of stability for PvP and stability for new content or even new content.

That is the actual topic. So please stay focused on the topic.

    This will never happen.

    Cheers.

From my experience it seems the majority of players on PS4 are playing PVP. Yet the majority of game content is PVE. So are players doing the content as it was designed at that point? Or perhaps are they running the content that is more easily supported by voice chat.

Voice Chat could work similarly in PVE like in PVP if players would congregate in a central location. However because trading is not centralized in a static locale, players don't have a reason to mass in one location. Because of this if a player is looking for players to run PVE content they have to bounce around from one location to the next. Often in areas that have no connection to the content they are looking to run. In no way is this efficient.

If the majority of your time in game is spent in PVP. Clearly you are going to be insulated from seeing issues in PVE.

While Text Chat is not going to be put in with IC. There is no way to say it will never be added at some point. Some players certainly didn't think ESO would go FTP/BTP with a cash shop. Yet it did. Some players said there would never be scrolling combat text and effect trackers in game. Yet ZOS are adding them in at a later date.

Players do congregate for pve dungeons, if you go to the undaunted challenge place, you could get a pick up group in minutes especially since everyone is running the same dailies.
Most of those guys will guild up with you if you even hint at interest.

    Glad I could help!

    Happy gaming.

You didn't help. I've tried that. I've stated in the past that I have stood outside of the Conclave looking for guilds. It doesn't work. Have you actually tried this, or are you just guessing?

Yeah. I have tried it several times before I got into guilds. Na servers ebon heart pact PS 4. Very populated.

What if I am looking to run something other than the daily pledge. If someone goes to the Conclave looking for the daily, assuming it's not glitched, likely they can find players to run it. I've found though most players are just looking for pugs there, not guild members. You seem to think everyone experience is going to match your own. The truth is far from it.

Man, I just can't stop making new friends on the PS4 with VC!! We are rockin n rollin and coms are doing just great! I'm glad to see that the pc ppl are not trying to change the console version with wanting 'spam text chat' :/ Props to you Z for giving the console players what they want..on console.....and letting the pc players have wat they want...on pc. :)

Sorry to any of my fans, I've just been playing so much, meeting and voice chatting with new and old peeps daily, that I have no time to log in the fourms like I used to :/ I've actually had people with 'disorders' thank me for helping them come out of their shells and talk with me, AND, that they were talking to their shrinks/Doctors about getting off their medication!!!!!.....what a awesome feeling!!!

    Good for you.
I have had similar experiences, with shy people being happy to chat.

    Best of luck.

Thanks bro!! Send me an invite if you want to hook up sometime..it's in my sig. Just let me know ur psn via pm on here so I'll know its u. I hope I have enough room to add ya lol ;) I make a different friend every time I log in!! We chat and roll for hrs..picking up even more peeps on the way!! In fact, a lot of ppl are starting to use their phones to call friends and family instead of texting them!!! It has brought distant families closer with the personal voice calls!! It's really amazing the good VC is doing for people

Assuming you've been playing for over 15-30 days or having played other games the friends list is going to be your go to.

As you play you can casually talk to ppl as you play to build your friends list.
You can if you choose to, meet and friend at least 1 person every two weeks which is more than enough to jump on and play with.

If your habit is not to socialize, friend, meet and play with others then it will be harder but having text chat doesn't make this automatically go away. Forums, psn, or Xbox forums, social gaming networks and other game forums should have provided plenty of ppl.

There are sites like esolfg and Twitter, Redditt, etc that at this point having ppl to play with shouldn't be an issue.

I omitted in-game options as you've shared disinterest so hopefully a few of those offer opportunities for you b

    Let's be clear and honest.
It's not needed but it's a preference for some on console who are more comfortable with playing an MMO on console like it's played on PC.

That's really what this is all about...so considering ZOS' decisions and responses to the topic let's stop using "needed" and move to what "you specifically want or desire for you liking".

Edit: Pay close attn to PC changes tho...targeting was just changed to be more like console and controller support is almost done for PC with more options for PC players.

I respectfuly disagree, over 83% say its needed. And listed many reasons as too why. So out of these battles of opinions the pro text crowd is winning in a landslide not just with support but also with sound supportive arguments.

So trying to hush someone using the term "needed" just seems like a desperate attempt to smear someones statement without actually addressing his statement or this issue at hand. It has been discussed thoroughly why people feel the need of text chat and while I looked threw this thread to familiarize myself with the flow of the discussion, the only rebuttal I have seen from you is "zos said no, so its no", despite the fact that zos has changed their mind on issues they have said "no" to before. So I ask you this.... why do you continue to come with that argument when it really holds no weight?

Please understand that poll only represents forum participants where all three combined platforms (is less than 1%) as all the votes are combined and not representative of just the console community.

Also this isn't any attempt to hush anyone but hopefully to help those who want the feature to better understand, formulate and articulate the feature request accurately. The feature isn't needed as there is nothing that cannot be done without and people are doing everything and more without. It is a desired feature tho for some.

The last 30+ pages where I'm commenting is to help those who want the feature
If you still feel it's those for the feature against me than you're actually working against the thread.

Hmm interesting, I can see where you got that conclusion. However it is evident you do not have a good understanding about how polls work. Polls are only effective when there is a diverse group that is related to the subject. Hence the subject is adding text chat to eso, and the group being asked is the right demographic (a mixture of xbox,ps, and pc players) and there is a healthy amount of people who have voted already. And to top it off the poll is still active and open leaving it for people to join in as they wish and thus increaseing votes. And to even add to its credibility even further, you have to purchase the game and get the invitation code to join the forums, so not just anyone could join in. We have the people who will be directly affected by it voting and also a group that already has the feature and testifies to its usefulness.

Polls arent meant for every single person to vote on it, it is to get a people who represent the groups being affected to vote and results represent the majority and their wants. That is how every poll works. And this poll is better than most because it stays open and only people who have the game can participate in it. So in short this poll is very acurate and continuely shows the want and need for text chat. There is no way around it.

    Good sir.
This poll isn't a deciding factor of if a feature is to bed added. That's where you and others need help.
This poll is a forum poll for others to gauge a discussion.

Let someone help you or this will follow the other threads since March.

Never said this poll is the only deciding factor in getting a feature added. I simply educated you about how polls work. Specifically this one. It accurately represents the whole eso community across all platforms as I explained to you in my previous post. And 83% of the community wants it. So now it is up to zos to ignore what the majority is asking for, or hear their community and add it. Thats how mmos work.

Respectfully sir your comments are not representative on how this polls results work/convey thoughts for this feature nor are the percentages you're referring to accurate for what you're suggesting it conveys.

Your interpretation of partial forum participation and segmented results will lead to arguments and debates in this thread based on the logic and math you're using. That goes against discussing a feature to be added after the company has already decided against it and responded to earlier community feedback as no.

    This thread as a whole:

-The poll is not a deciding factor at all as the feature was scrapped in early development by ZOS and is if no influence of the community nor do they plan to add it based on their comments on ESO live
-The poll isn't a discussion that ZOS is willing to consider a change based on what ZOS has told the community in the past and recent as of three weeks.
-The poll results are only that of a segment of active forum users.
-The poll lacks participation from most console active players
-The entire forum population who sees the thread is less than most active players regardless of platform
-The results are skewed in regards to console as PC and console have voted where some are inactive or not on the platforms of discussion.
-The poll conveys a tone from a user who has not and does not participate in the forums who hoped to ask ZOS for a feature prior to understanding why it's not on console.
-The poll is a collection of ideas from many other closed threads where the feature is the only relatable topic but implementation and functionality are lost in other threads
-The poll carries some past aggression from closed threads where a user may vote in opposition to an emotion between one user and another but where the topic is of no concern

All of this to my suggestion....let's all work together on any side pro/for or indifferent to the feature in order to think-tank towards something that fits what ZOS intends as well as offering some convenience and options for all.

Maybe even start with strategic questions to ZOS on ask us anything in order to pave a path to lay ideas and strategy in hopes to move past random comments of why/why not any person may desire or want this feature.

That's the help I can offer.

Thats cool and all, but for any of that to be true you literally have to ignore how polls work and you have to ignore what the community is asking for. Also you have to ignore how mmos actually work (talking about feedback from users).

It is evident that you are willfully ignoreing all these facts staring at you in the face. Its rather sad. Im going to share some advice with you as well. When you try to tell the majority of players their votes dont count and that they are wasting their time asking zos for something they want in the game, you will incite arguements.

Looking at your responses in later posts that seems to be your trend. You in so many words say "the majority's voice doesnt count, zos said no back in beta, nothing else anyone has to say matters, now follow my lead in the discussion"..... That type of dialoge doesnt work and no matter how hard you try this discussion will not go your way. 83% of the community wants text chat, and you cant steer them away from it. So I suggest stop trying.

Based on your profile you haven't been around this forum long.

First...welcome to this forum if no one else has said so.

Your ideas and comments are welcomed and appreciated as well as your opinions.

I'd rather not argue with you or anyone but instead discuss collectively the ideas and or suggestions you may have regarding this feature or other items that will provide opportunity for you and others to feel you can better enjoy this game in the platform of your choice.

After you've watched the two ESO live episodes in my signature please share with us your ideas on this feature.
I honestly would love for someone or anyone to engage with me and others to come up with ideas that ZOS would entertain for an overall better experience for all gamers without aggravating or enraging one or more groups by means of any feature or ideas presented in this thread or others.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Inhavebwatched those episodes and dont see them having much bearing on this dicussion tbh. Like I have stated before in a comment directed to you, that just because zos had said no to the idea back then does not mean they will not add it later. They said no to first person view in the beggining then the community voiced how they wanted first person view in the game.... then they added it.

Text chat is no different. If people want it, they should use these forums to voice their wants and concerns. There is no reason for them to adjust what they are ask for just because you believe they should. This an mmo, and the beauty of an mmo is that things change and the communitys input is important to the developers. So the community should not dumb down their wants, especially when they have shown to change their minds and such matters.

    Glorious...

Again I've shared before and I'll share again I do not wish to argue.
You've decided to continue and disregard the companies statements and info...do you....but I ask that you discontinue to pull me into the argument regarding this feature as I nor anyone else are the cause of said feature not being available on the platform of your choice.

If that is what you got out of my last statement then it shows how you truly diregard what anyone says to you that differs from your own opinion. Im not trying to argue, but it seems like that is what you want to do.

I would suggest taking a break from the forums for awhile to cool your emotions or just get your head clear.

I hoped to address your opinions and perspectives as well as welcome you to the forums.
The other and more important tone is to come up with ideas and discuss them.

Maybe I didn't share this with you but the approach others before you and during console beta...their ideas were that ZOS changed some things and why not this...

The ESO live episode in June is a direct response to around 10+ threads with far more reasons to add, convincing comments and even ZOS participation. I see you were not around then so it's of benefit to understand what happened prior and what's being addressed on those two episodes. April was in response to console closed beta asking for it.
June is a response to the aftermath after beta but leading up to console release.

Im choosing not to engage in any arguments...people in general make lots of comments and in doing so those comments are capable of moving ideas and collaboration or enraging omg, exciting and even offending or targeting/baiting disputes.

Choosing not to argue is good. Reading every comment and assumeing everyone is trying to argue with you when they are not.... is bad.

You are assuming people are arguing with you whenbthey are not, and its causing you to completely ignore what has been said to you. Maybe you should take a break for awhile. It will be good for you.

I omitted in-game options as you've shared disinterest so hopefully a few of those offer opportunities for you.

I've tried all these things. I've mentioned in this very thread that I have in fact. I understand the fundamental aspects of how to meet people while gaming.

I've run guild equivalents in other games. As well as recruited and trained members for those guild equivalents. Not all of them were MMO's and some functioned fine without text chat. I've even been the middle officer whom other members expressed their concerns with. So the concept of interacting with other gamers is not foreign to me. It seems the last few pages have derailed the subject once again. It's a poll on if text chat should be implemented or not. Yes we know it won't be with IC. Really wish we could change the title since all other TC threads are put here.

Anyways... this isn't a discussion about making friends or peoples differing opinions on what a poll is or people thinking they know the community and just how they would vote. It's the deficiencies of VC and the fact that some form of TC would alleviate most of the problems.

Making friends is great. Helping people become more sociable is a good thing too. But..... that doesn't change the fact that it still alienates others. There's virtually no moderation, so it really brings out the worst in some people. My block list is long. I can only talk to people in my immediate area. > This affects two aspects of the game that really annoy me. Trading and grouping. Don't get me wrong. I can do these things with VC but they take so much longer.

    Preach on, defcon!

All you wall flowers need to get out on the floor & dance!

Has it occurred to either one of you, even for a moment, that not all speech problems are due to shyness or being a wallflower? I will tell you that Im probably one of the most least shy people out there, no shrinks/meds needed here, but still I find it difficult to use voice. Answers are really as not as simple as you would like others to believe.

That's your solution? You want to play ESO? Cool! Oh...you're deaf? Sorry mate....you'll have to play the PC version.

I would also argue that deafness, being mute, having Tourette's, speaking another language etc. are not "issues".

What if we are simply trying to help a minority of players to find peace with just playing the game with way it was designed , just like 99 percent of the actual console player base is doing.

Text chat will not be implemented in the imperial city.
It should not be anywhere ahead of stability for PvP and stability for new content or even new content.

That is the actual topic. So please stay focused on the topic.
Text chat in the imperial city update.

Start there, be friendly . Those guys are interested in dungeons.
    Guild up , friend up,
Honestly I can't tell if you are just trolling me by pretending not to know how to make friends.

Friend request the guys that seem good. Then when you want to run a dungeon, hit em up.
    I really am baffled.
On PS 4 guild invites are being tossed around like confetti.

So players are just suppose to wander the digital lands of Tamerial looking for others to run the same content they want to, rather then actually running the content...hmmm...seems legit.

Myself and multiple others rollin have zero problems with having to 'comb the lands' looking for peeps to roll with. Not sure what ur talking about :/ Are you sure you're not playing Skyrim by mistake bro?

You might also consider starting a pve guild and invite members you play with that you like.

Take a minute and chat with people, most harcores are going to respect your enthusiasm for the game. I don't want to run vet dungeons or grind until I hate life.

I love PvP and sought out people doing the same activity.

You aren't hopeless and this isn't that hard otherwise there wouldn't be a gazillion guilds and tons of people in area chat.

    Awesome.
We should all follow your example and give our mother a call.
My mom never answers my texts.
I would take it personally but she has a land line.

tytyty bro, I do try to lead by example! And at the risk of sounding 'cocky', with my 21.5 step program I developed for in game coms, I have helped multitudes of peeps in game. They are no longer scared hollow shells, but very active in VC AND, I've even had a few say that my leadership/example skills have helped them win tons of scratch off lottery games!! It's hard being so humble, but I do try.

And thanks for the mention, I am going to call my mom right now bro ;) Then I'm going to go back to rollin this awesome complete game.....and stop typing since I'm not used to it anymore

It just seems that the only difference between ESO and skyrim is the people.
Why play a social game and then complain about the people?
Voice chat gets most of the stuff done and the console operating system fills in the gaps.
    Geez.

Im choosing not to engage in any arguments...people in general make lots of comments and in doing so those comments are capable of moving ideas and collaboration or enraging omg, exciting and even offending or targeting/baiting disputes.

You are not a mod and have no right to tell anyone if they should or shouldn't comment.
You are one person with one opinion.
    Its has been noted.
Please comment on the discussion topic and avoid engaging individual posters.
If you find smurf is making too much sense, ignore him. Or me for that matter.
But telling people with different opinions not to post is a direct admission that you have no actual counter to his points.

Why did you interpret the ESO live episodes to suggest that ZOS' reasons for not adding are not because it's too inconvenient for console?
I just watched part of the ESO live episodes in your sig - and honestly, I found little of use with regards to text chat.

A bit about there being talk of voice for PC...but no decisions. And then again for PC - introducing gamepads, but again...no official plans.

Then the second video....they didn't put push to talk in because people would self-regulate and it's easy to mute your mic?

    Ummmmm.....ok. Right then.
