We set this up specific for shows, such as E3, so we can get small groups working together for a quick PvP-style match.
While it’s a small taste of what our massive PvP is like in the live game, we thought it would be a fun way for folks to fight with / against each other with the limited amount of time they have at shows like this.
This mode isn't in the live game, as it’s something we specifically setup for small, quick matches. However, ESO is a living, ever-evolving game, and if we see lots of requests for smaller style PvP combat, it could be something we add in a later update.
Yeah we'd like to see smaller PvP zones/battles.
Personally I'd like to see something like "Port Scion" from RIFT. That for me was one of the best PvP arenas I've ever played.
Port Scion was fantastic. I still have recordings of fights at the bridge on that map. Rift did so many things right; customizable classes, UI, in game recording, Rifts which are so much better than their rip off counterpart dolmens.
@Mablung throw us a couple of links to your vids, miss Port Scion and don't have RIFT installed on this PC
I'm having a hard time understanding the reasoning and logic behind NOT wanting more options to pvp?
To those saying it will kill off cyrodil....WHY? Theres enough ppl inthis thread that love cyrodil pvp who have voiced out their opinions, just as there are those that WANT an arena as a different option,
Sounds good to me following the lines of "play as you want" right?
Don't get me wrong, i LOVE cyrodil...but ONCE IN AWHILE it would be nice to go up against an even number, instead of having to sneak around waiting to catch a small group, or seiging nonstop getting kills off OILS and ***...ONCE IN AWHILE, it be nice to see how i and my opponents fares when theres nowhere to run/hide and straight out FIGHT.
Please don't try to FORCE ppl into a way that YOU like.Thats selfish no?

Do you know what actualy is selfish? People who bought ESO knew there wont be battlegrounds, they knew there are no arenas. They knew there is only Cyrodiil.
They knew this MMORPG is focused on lore.
Yet there are still so many cries that are trying to push their idea to game we bought! We bought it due to lore, and war of three banners. Yet people wanting arenas are trying to force us to play it their way... But that is cool right?
ha! i hope they do add one...
1. it will force them to balance classes out.
2. wont have to deal with 1v50's
3. probly gonna have to work on the amount of times you can be cc'd " being hit my nothing but cc spells till you are dead doesnt rly seem like pvp to me" would have been a nice thing for them to have tought of in the first place.. if i might add..
4. idk tho.. they will need to change ALOT...could almost call it redoing..but if they are willing to morph the game in big ways for the best.. no matter what... im all for it. gonna be alot of work tho.
Go play a shooter please, one where every one has the same abilities and the same best guns available to all of them.
I will post it again for you: http://www.warcry.com/articles/view/interviews/6773-Five-Years-of-Warcraft-Speaking-With-Blizzard-s-Rob-Pardo

Would you care to estimate how many players knew there will never be some sort of structured PvP in ESO, prior to buying it?
I knew the game will be unbalanced before I bought it, and yet I still expect devs to fix those balance issues. Stupid of me, I know. After all, this is so much more than a simple computer game.

I think your signature says it all with regards to balancing what I've been saying all along Cyrodiil is dead. And was a bad idea just releasing with that for pvp in the first place.
Don't like it, don't play it....simples

But when you see that the majority of the campaigns themselves are sitting at 1 bar, then you can clearly say that it's not that active. They pretty much admitted it with the sticky post where they want to reduce the amount of campaigns.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

One problem arenas can cause is when a campaign alliance is getting owned it gives an incentive to them to do something else rather than trying to fight back.
This is happening currently with being able to guest or change servers...We don't need another incentive to not fight back in Cyradiil.
IMO guesting should be deleted when we go down to 5 servers as well.

This is an option for people who don't want massive scale combat. Do you know how many people went to play Wildstar over ESO JUST because it had Arena? People love PvP, and with that comes the need for competition in an environment they feel they can better control.
Anyone who's crying they would unsub is just immature.

my guess would be 5 or less but it could go as high as 10, which is kinda funny since ESO is well known to not have arenas.Pixysticks wrote: »This is an option for people who don't want massive scale combat. Do you know how many people went to play Wildstar over ESO JUST because it had Arena?

They show a little demo for pvp at E3 and everyone screams 'Arena is coming!' They even explained why they have the demo.
You do not want this in the game yet. Can you imagine the QQ with how Sorc/DK teams are top of the charts? I can imagine it. You guys want class balance, bug fixes, client stability, Cyrodiil to be viable, etc. before you want Arena combat.
Everyone wanting Arena style PvP should stop and remove their fingers from the keyboard and unplug their machine until common sense prevails.

Going to unsub once they confirm this. Bye bye cyrodil it was nice knowing you for couple month heh

I don't think this is actually the case.
First of all, the majority of the players is not yet in the VR´s. Therefore they don't pvp, as it makes no real sense below VR.
Those that are at VR´s seem to enjoy Cyrodil a lot, but they always say that we have too many battlezones and that the players are too spread. With a future patch ZO will address both things and hopefully also tweak the performance there.
WoW, Ultima didn't ship with an Arena system and if you ask 10 former wow players, then at least 6 will tell you that they left wow due Arena and the massive consequences of it.
With TBC the amount of active pvp players took a big hit at Warcraft, while the reason for this was mainly the design choice by Blizzard, it also proved that this type of small scale pvp like 2v2 or 3v3 just isn't the cup of tea for pvp players.
Blizzard also admitted that the biggest mistake they did was the implementation of Arena!
Those that like Arena can be found in Esports leagues, but the average joe and his wife and those are the majority still, wont find it much fun as.
Just because people are below VR5 that doesn't mean they won't attempt to PVP, infact it was sort of a mistake from the beginning to make it that way, if a level 20 wants to PVP he has to wait all the way until VR5 to PVP? I mean the whole thing is a little disenchanting for any player, another one of the current complaints is that VR areas are boring and just a mindless grind, which for me they were I just lost all interest as soon as I got to different faction areas.
I think you're using what the blizzard employee said out of context, he was simply stating that the way the game had balanced because of small scale PVP really destroyed the vision they had for the game, infact ESO is also guilty of this despite being focused around large scale PVP there were certain classes which were just ultimately more superior for large scale PVP so they had to be balanced, but because of this those classes will most likely suffer in PVE because what ZoS envisioned those classes to do for PVE is most likely not going to work anymore.
I get where you're coming from though, Arena PVP isn't gonna be for everyone. But the choice is there for the player to decide whether or not they want to try it or not, I think ZoS really have to be wise with how they add new content instead of just focusing solely on adding more content PR matters as well, what do you think sounds more interesting and might bring players back?
"An Arena has been added, Invite your friends back to Elder Scrolls online and read this article for more information"
"We've been listening and added more content to Cyrodiil, come back now and join the battle, read this article for more information"
I mean with either of those choices I know which one would interest me more if I disenchanted with the game, there's a possibility the player may re-subcribe to check out new content such as an Arena but if you were to simply just add more content to Cyrodiil it may deter them from even considering it.

Dam really you can only pvp at v10+? Here i thought the fact that starting at lvl 10 i have been going into cyrodill and pvping meant I was pvping as a lvl 10. I must be just dreaming I guess.
