DK Bash nerf for PVE is unacceptable

    All I know is that PVE has become uncomfortably hard, we're left high and dry with paying the cost of respec probably twice, once to try a completely new skillsets and the second time to optimize once we find something that works, paying for new equipment, new enchants, and feeling frustrated while dying to 3 mudcrabs and trying to figure out how to survive at Veteran level. All this after 6 weeks of fun, enjoyable play and barely 1 week after they cashed in my 6 months sub. To say it is unpleasant is an understatement. I don't pvp and I don't group much either so I don't care about what happens with these play styles. But to feel powerless in front of 3 scamps is a new and entirely demotivating experience for THIS game. I'm sure I'm not the only solo PVE player here disgusted by this. So. Having to blindly respec and restart as a complete newb on veteran level sounds very tedious. Or having to group to complete quests sucks. Is there any way I can get my RL money back? This is not what I signed up for.

    A tank dealing shield damage was the one thing that made me enjoy the combat of this game. It had great synergy with all of the skills. Now the game feels dull and boring.

Well i never exploited the lolbash crap so you just experience how bad you are, when you lose your broken crap. Grat for it, and no need to rage, they fixed you.

    No I want to be able to solo while maintaining my body organs where they belong. In an instance I don't care about DPS. I want to stay alive and keep the main boss on me. I don't know why that is hard to understand but I can't seem to convey this.

    I don't understand why they nerfed bash and Then bumped the HP and damage from enemies way up. I blame the PVP players. Crybaby complaining about getting they're faces mashed in. Why even have the Imperial DK an option anymore. Beyond useless at this point. Especially when tanking is all I've ever done. .... Not to mention being mobbed to death constantly by damn mudcrabs.

    If you cant kill anything as a DK after the bash nerf, you should try playing any other class, especially a nightblade or templar.

    DK's are still the developers' little spoiled pets.

    Anyone who saids shield wasn't suppose to do damage didn't play last elder scrolls game and obviously can't read or see that just on way one hand and shield is setup and built with passives like deadly bash alone is obvious that the shield is meant to be used for both causing damage and defense just like in last ES title and it was obviously carried into ESO. Which completely makes sense and is how a shield is used in real combat anyways.

    Now let's get down to the fact that only reason this change was made was really due to PvP not PvE and in fact wasn't needed at least in this fashion it wasn't and they could have just reduced the damage a little not completely gut it. Looks like what I feared has already begun where PvE gets shafted due to whats best for PvP and its players over and over due to changes being universal. Now this is why changes made for both PvE and PvP should be made separate like some MMOs do and have switched to doing due to this problem in many MMOs and not universal that's for sure. That way both sides can be addressed according to its needs and playing styles without the other being effected in a bad way.

    Also quick FYI the fact that shield still causes some damage tells you that shield is in fact used for both defending and causing damage as it started, should be, and makes perfect sense. This is so obviously clear so don't try to pull the oh it was meant to be this way act because everyone knows that's far from the truth.

    I suggested this in another thread, but if they actually made the "deadly bash" perk do something *more* than just bring damage up a little bit (since it is a little bit, despite it saying 100%) and dropping stamina usage, then it may be viable to sink two points into the perk.

    I for one would like to see the deadly bash be able to interrupt skills of all mobs (ie power melee attacks) to make it *feel* like you are actually a tanking class and separate it from others running around with a 2H that can still do a bash to interrupt channelled skills, only they get to follow it up with a higher DPS attack.

    At the moment, the two skill points are a waste as the damage increase is a joke, and the stamina reduction is also a joke, since it's use is really only viable to "interrupt" channelled skills, which not all mobs have. In a fight against 2 mobs, if one has an interruptible skill I may end up using bash against them once... saving me 3-4% of my stamina? Which, I find isn't really getting drained as much as it used too anyway.

    Next rebuild I'm going to be leaving the perk out unless it can offer me something more than allowing me to *almost* do the same damage as a standard attack, and providing a small reduction to the cost of stamina.

    I use it every day. It works as intended and I need to focus every time to time the interupt, and I got it!

    Attacking with 1 weapon and a shield is not supposed to do nearly as much damage as someone attacking you with a big 2Handed weapon.

    Think about it.

    People who wants more damage from the shield seams to completely forget that you can block and mitigate a lot of damage at the same time.

    Blocking with a shield protects you way more then any block with any weapon.

    Its called balance.

    If you want to do huge single target damage, isnt direct attack spells or weapon skills/offensive skill that is suppose to do a lot of damage what you should pick?

    I read a lot of this thread, but I have not read through the entire 13 pages, so if someone has suggested this already, forgive me.

    Perhaps the answer is to adjust the damage of some of the sword skills in the line. It's SWORD and board, not just board. This could address the dps issue for solo play, but would require someone to choose between swinging and blocking. This choice promotes skillful, nuanced play, but still allows tanking with shield up when required.

    I don't feel there's necessarily anything wrong with the bash skill at the moment, but the perk "deadly bash" definitely needs a rework. If I'm investing two skill points, I would like a bit more than a minor dmg buff (minor because initial dmg is so small and doesn't even bring it in line with a light attack) and minor reduction in stamina cost. Let me interrupt other skills, or have it create a debuff after interrupt (ie target takes 30% more damage for 2 seconds). Something to make the perk worth the points.

    You only get to use it on certain mobs and usually only once a fight. A debuff wouldn't be a bad option for it (would even bring the "deadly" back into it's title!).

    i was concerned about bash, but it is still very useful, particularly as a cc. most mobs are stunned for whatseems like forever. makes even 3 pulls easy for a sword and board single target templar.
