Took Me Less Than 5 Minutes To Find A Bug

New Thieves Guild quest. Inside the Manor. In my stealth build. Did not break stealth. Still got a bounty when sneaking passed a guard - the guard did not attack, but I was put "into combat" for about 5 seconds.

I would normally post this in the bug forum, but honestly, this is so ridiculous that I felt it needed a larger audience.

    It doesn't break anything, it's just ridiculous this made it passed QA and a PTS. Much like the gate debacle to get into the manor.

Do you have any evidence that a core game mechanic mystically broke in a way not seen in a decade, and you didnt just smoosh a bug in front of the guard? Evidence that you meet all the criteria for zero stealth radius, or if thats not the case, then proof that you were not too close?

    1. Stealth reticle remained.
    2. Stealth reticle turned yellow - indicating combat
    3. Guards did not attack
    4. Bounty was given - indicating stealth was broken

    1 & 2 are not compatible with 3. 1, 2 & 3 are not compatible with 4. That's a bug.

    Mild SPOILER possibly!!!

    I confirm, two innocent Servant NPCs on the upper floor of the mansion always detected me each time I approached them. I was hidden all the time and many meters behind them, yet each time I got within that distance, I got their "detected" reactions and it failed the optional quest objective to not be noticed :(
    My build doesn't allow me to be noticed by NPCs at all even if I go in front of them, so those detections would not be possible if these NPCs were not bugged :open_mouth:

    Also, the redguard woman (wife of the owner I think) in the bedroom detected me many meters away (while I remained in stealth all the time), then she went other way, I didn't move, and I few seconds later I randomly got ~550 gold bounty without any additional notice...

    And on my way to escape (with 1m30s timer) there was a hostile NPC near the optional treasure. I thought stealing the treasure would keep me in stealth, but interacting with treasure revealed me and NPCs got aggroed, so I failed the timer by 2 seconds literally - I was caught just near the exit door :neutral:

    Also, none of innocent Servant NPCs can be pickpocketed in that quest location - nothing happens if I press E on them:

    Combined with the gate bug, and all these additional bugs, this quest left bad impression.

    At least Prowler's Talisman was worthy prize, this one item arrived many years too late but I love it so much <3

    I actually abandoned the quest after the steal treasure part, and re-did it because I wanted to see the detection again. Sure enough stealing the treasures i.e. interacting with them, takes the player out of stealth and causes the guard to aggro.

    Lady what's her face also "detects" you no matter where in the room she is when you steal the key.

    Regardless, Khajiit humbly stands corrected. Gotta go back in there with another character and investigate!

    Regardless, Khajiit humbly stands corrected. Gotta go back in there with another character and investigate!

    My own addon. Turns the reticle yellow when in combat, and red when taking damage (or within the cooldown for interaction after being hit). There are other UI addons that do it.

    I murdered all the Red Rooks, a few times in the lower levels of Ilesian Tower... seems I could only put down 2/3 of the notes to make them paranoid things... the third I could see where to put it... but no 'E' ... spam it.. nothing... many other toons came and went on their way... *sigh*.

    There are definitely stealth detection bugs here. Second floor of the bank I kept repeatedly getting caught. I’m running a stealth build where my detection radius is practically zero and the guard is around the corner. Busted.

    When I logged I was able to easily complete it upon logging back in.

    In the Ilessan tower poison dart traps were actually pulling me into them and going off when I pressed the A button instead of disarming them. Maybe that one is just something wrong on my end but, I haven’t changed anything and I’ve played since the darn beta. I don’t know. Curious as to whether anyone else has experienced anything similar.
