Yesterday i got an email stating i got a warning because i used bad language in zone chat, and since the start of the game i used zone chat 2 times and one time was reading "xxxxxx bots". I can easily assume someone reported me for calling bots names, so it is definitely bots have won since they are running freely around, taking nods, flying, underground and frustrated players getting warning because calling them names. It is a big win for bots.

The bots won because YOU did not manage to use acceptable words to describe your anger...? They did not win.. they're just "loosing it" slower then you... B)

@freakasso And you always needs to say something against other's remarks because you have no valid opinion to make. It was my experience and i have rights to write it, i didn't ask your precious opinion about my post. It is a poll, you give your opinion either side, you can not change my mind or it is not making your point right and mine wrong because you think you find a great answer. Vote your poll, make the others hear your opinion, you don't need to respond to others.

The worst thing... Z said last month they wont be moving EU server to EU until after the bot problem is solved.
And now the bot infestation is even greater than last month...

SO IT'S NEVER GONNA HAPPEN FOR EU SERVER THEN!

I'm seeing less and less bots every day and the gm's are always announcing that they are monitoring and to msg them if we see bots. Furthermore if u check the 3rd party black market gold sites you will noticed that prices for gold have gone way up. This is because they have lost accounts and have to re-bot to make new toons and start working again. You will never rid games like this of bots completely but u can reduce their numbers and for the moment zenimax is winning imo and doing a good job.

For now yes. I keep seeing the same bots in Grahtwood, on the beach area and in a public dungeon. I finished a quest there a week ago and today go there with an alt and they are still there even though I reported them.

I put yes as i have seen a massive increase in bots over the past 2 weeks.

They need to employ somebody to monitor zone general chat and just instant ban the account the bots use to spam, they can also check transactions from this account and ban people who buy the gold, as without them... there are no bot / gold sellers.

They will think again about spamming, and yes it wouldn't fix it all, probably end up spamming your mail, but a quick method to report as a "bot" with 1 button would help this also, would be a good start at least.

    Yes.

When a developer starts changing content that has a detrimental effect on the player base then the bots have won.

Container nerfs, boss drop nerfs, loot nerfs, XP nerfs and motifs are in for anther drop rate nerf.

Zenimax has done the gold sellers job for them.

Reduce things for your average player which means the bots that farmed the hell out of it now have the selling power and can make more gold.

I don't think this is meant as a pessimistic post. Yes, they have won for the time being, but I already have the feeling that there is a slight improvement when compared to 10 Days ago.

A bit uncertain, but in the end posted no.
I find it a bit strange though: I also play LoTRO - this is an FTP game, and based by the Logic of some on this forum, LoTRO should be overrun With botters and goldsellers. I've played through most of the intro areas in LoTRO, and have so far seen one gold spammer in in-game chat, and not a single bot. Granted, LoTRO is six years old, but still?

No... to be honest, I say this again, but I have not seen a single bot... other then a few goldspammers that can easily be clocked with an addon...

Maybe I outlevelled the zones they are in to fast, but they haven't won for me... Being a VR 6 is groovy... if hard :)

Of course they haven't won, if they had, the game would be completely unplayable. But Zos has a tough fight ahead to crush them.

Then i go about my business and enjoy myself. Just hit 25, not rushing it up, and honestly for as many bots are out there my leveling thus far has been minimally impacted.

i agree with this. im really enjoying playing, and i havent seen many bots. maybe ive just been lucky. maybe im not very good at noticing these things. but in any case, i dont think its such a big deal.

Voted yes because they are everywhere. I have toons ranging from level 10 to level VR1 and they are all fighting against bots for nodes, killing bosses in dungeons, etc.

It's very weird to be told by an NPC that you are heading into a dungeon that they just discovered and you need to go in to see what happened to the scouting team and when you walk in, there's 30 bots running around killing everything in sight. So yeah, I totally feel the immersion there.

No the bots have not won, they have been forced out of the dungeons and delves and are ripping through quests and getting closed out steadily.

The black market is always there but it will be damped down as long as we keep reporting,

2 more gold sinks need normalising and changing

    - attrition on gear needs to disappear and made so that the wear and tear only shows when the gear breaks. The attrition needs to be on death.

    - Reset needs to be made cheaper, not CHEAP but more reasonable like 10k cap on skills and 5k cap on stats,

    this will help.

so will auction house but lets see how the economy pans out once the Kiosks are released, might as well give it a chance

the bots haven't "won" but they are currently winning

although, i must admit, they did help me out last night - i was on an alt, level 17 in grahtwood and i wandered into a public dungeon/delve (rootsunder ruins) - there was no way on nirn that i'd be able to solo the place

every trash pack of mobs was 4+ and i die against packs of 3 on a frequent basis unless my ultimate is charged.

so given that there were roughly 20+ level 3 templars spamming aedric spear running around this instance farming all the mobs, i could pull bosses and kite them into the paths of bots. the bots would spam aedric spear, get aggro and then die. they'd then respawn at the spawnpoint within the dungeon and be straight back at it.

so with this technique, i managed to clear the entire instance - finished all the quests, killed most of the bosses and got very little in the way of loot because everything was killed by bots.

but without them, i never would have done it - it did bring me great satisfaction to wipe out a handful at a time by kiting a boss into them though - which also whittled the boss down enough for me to finish it off.

i seriously wonder who the hell the bots are intending to sell to though - as at this rate, they'll drive their customer base away from the game. unless they're banking on console players being fool enough to buy gold. (but even then i thought console clients were going on different servers to pc clients)

who knows what drives these botters - maybe it's real players tired of the VR grind and expensive repair costs.

It only takes 2 bots to detract from the experience if they make it so you can walk from the entrance to the dungeon to the end boss and encounter nothing but corpses because they are running up and down the route killing everything.

When I report the gold spammers, I ignore first, then add the account name that pops up as well as the character name.
Cant be any doubt about the account being used to sell gold then.

LOTRO did have more of a bot problem back when it launched (at least, on EU servers). It was mainly people spamming goldselling messages in Bree. At some point Codies/Turbine took the decision to block all IPs from China/Asia I believe, which was the primary region where the goldsellers originated at that time, and a lot of the issues stopped. I suspect the numerous in-game currencies and bind-on-pickup items also helped to circumvent some of the botting issues.

Clearly more work is needed to combat bots in ESO; I have seen them spawning in actual (cloned, by the looks of it) hordes and have reported dozens already. I would imagine it is a high priority for Zenimax to work on blocking them though, and for the time being they are not making the game unplayable (for me), just being annoying.
