There are far less bots now than when I first started playing a month ago. I can actually complete dungeons now, and chat bot spam has been reduced considerably.

Is the game bot free? No.
Is the bot problem being dealt with? Yes—Perhaps not to everyone's satisfaction, but progress is being made.

Note: The upper levels of the game have little to no bots.

Says one of the botmasters. You obvioulsy very oblivious or you are part of the issue.

Trolling isn't the most effective way of making your point. I've very rarely run into botting issues in the game, but I don't doubt they're out there. I simply understand how bot-prevention works and that developers really have very little control over the situation.

The invisible, underground, speed, levitating, invincible hacking bots running around gathering trade skill nodes - Yes . They are much harder to catch an report and are getting away with blatant hacking of the client. Still no clue how ZoS is allowing this in the game.

If they can do it in PVE, what is stopping them from getting bored and moving to PVP. I mean there are already a few post popping up of folks taking invisible damage in PVP with no clue where it's coming from. My bet is it's one of those bot hackers that has gotten bored, and sitting in their comfy chair laughing their *insert donkey image here* off.

The bots farming mobs and dungeons, I don't think they have actually won the battle yet, but there is still a battle being waged and the outcome is "iffy".

Of course they have won. They do what they want, when they want and how they want and nothing, repeat nothing happens to them. ZOS are powerless to deal with this and they know it.
I've reported many bots to ZOS and the same bots are in game the next day, even the next week.

And anyone who believes bots aren't in the higher content should check out the portal in Cold Harbour where level 3 clones with face rolled names are pouring through at the rate of one or two EVERY second and have been for at least a week. Go look if you don't believe me.

And although these are "disposable" toons designed to get gold from the easy tour of Cold Harbour quest, they got there via porting to established veteran gold seller toons. I reported 2 tandem playing ones at level 47 just this morning. They'll be 50 by tomorrow and farming the veteran drops.

I feel the bots are winning simply because they limit my purchasing decisions and make Bleakrock a pain to find any materials on. I say that because the bots endlessly farm jute, iron ore, and maple in order to farm upgrade materials. These are then sold to players en masse at such a cost to encourage buying gold. That means to me that if I buy any upgrade materials, or heck any crafting material at all, I'm supporting the botters and gold sellers. I also can't craft anything for myself in the lowby zones, which in turn hurts my ability to level up crafting on my alts.

And pray tell, what does Zeni do about it? Once in a while a GM comes along, announces that they came to smash some bots, and proceeds to do so. By that, they mean they just kill the suspected bot so we can dance on its corpse. No bans, no account closures, nothing lasting in nature. I can't fathom why this is the case; it's certainly not for money, because if they close the accounts they can get the gold sellers to pony up more money by buying the game again (which in turn helps bolster sales numbers, impressing investors) which is far more of an investment than a month's subscription. Unless of course the account activation codes are so easy to spoof that botters just make them on the fly, in which case ESO is doomed.

While I'm glad they do something at all, it's too small in scale and to rare an occurrence for me to say that the bots are in danger of losing any time soon.

I haven't seen a "bot" since the second week of the game.

Definitely haven't seen any in Vet zones or Cyrodiil

I am a little confused what you people are doing to see so many bots when I see none.

Maybe you are in the level 10-30 zones.

So I ask this, Why are bots hitting the alchemy mats so hard when they have no value? I don't see them for sale either so where are they going? These are not gold sellers taking these mats. This is someone else.

Maybe they're crafting potions and vendoring those? That's all I can think.

If they are bots, could it be that they are unable to distinguish between material type?

Excuse me but there are bots all over the place. Why the hell does it matter what zone they are in, because you have one character and he's at the higher levels. Yup, that makes so much sense. New players start at lower levels. ZOS needs to do something about this and quickly. They can check accounts. You want to know the real problem, they haven't invested people into it full time else the bots would have a major dent in them.

Phantasy Star Universe by SEGA had a similiar problem. What they finally did was discontinue the pc and ps2 versions of the game support wise and go xbox 360 exclusive. What going console only did was put a quick halt to bots. I'm not saying Zeni should do that but I will be much happier once the console version of ESO comes out as I will be on it for sure.

I am getting really tired of reporting the numerous bots and gold sellers every time I play. Has anyone ever seen a GM on the EU server? Our lowbie zones are full of bots teleporting to harvest, reddit seems to have every other day a report of the newest bot hub, and zone chat is full of complaints about the bot presence.

They really need to get their act together.

Funny people act like ESO is the only game to suffer this. All games have this problem to some degree. EVE online has been out 10 years and still suffers from bot miners. As long as there are MMO's there will be someone working the system to profit from it.

I understand every mmo has bots to a degree...Hell Rift had the Horrid fishing bots that drove people crazy.

But to me it should be handled a bit better and faster. I do not know how or what they should do, that is not my job ,but it is a mega server so bots that are generally spread out on many servers in most other games are more in your face on this one.

I know they do not have a crystal ball at zos and things unforeseen happen in every game. IMHO and this is just how I personally feel on this issue, the bot problem being so prevalent on a mega server should be handled as an all out war for zos. A few ban hammer shows and poof they are gone and bots come back is not working, it is like throwing a firecracker into a horde of rats. It will scare them off but soon as the show is over they will be back. I don't want a there there message we are working on it... I want to see those bots burn in a firey ban hammer of flaming death...for good...sorry got caught up in the moment.

Yes they have won, the method gm's are using right now does not work as soon as they even enter the zone to publicly ban the bots every single one has an auto log sequence and they all disappear at once in mass. Effectively rendering in game gm's useless. This means they have to resort to the old ban them based on code and extremely time consuming report functions.

Yes. I was questing in Bleakrock earlier today and saw 4 different groups of bots running from node to node. Going right over the various npcs. I try to report them but I end up doing more reporting than playing. It's just sad.

I don't think my gameplay has ever been negatively affected by bots. I really don't see why bots and gold spammers are such big issues, but I'm apparently in a minority there.

I'd honestly appreciate it if someone could explain to me why seeing a bot or receiving a gold spam mail is so disruptive to their play.

The gold spam I can deal with I turn off chat the mails no biggy...but the bots…

It is not about seeing them it is more about racing to get nodes. I love to craft and quest and run about and gather. I play to relax. When I am racing packs of bots to resources and end up never gaining any because they hack the game it is a bit too much for a legit player like me. I don't feel like I am enjoying my game time if I am bot racing to gather and even some quests now.

Has nothing to do with immersion for me it is all about the frustration...I can't relax and enjoy it is not worth playing.

Bots are in most all mmo's but here it is so in your face because they are all on a mega server bunched up… that’s how I see it anyway...

Some will be able to tolerate it some won't …hope it gets sorted out.

    Happy Hunting

Nope. I think the forum whining about bots is at a record high for no reason though. To be honest, I don't know where to look in the dungeons for some of the bosses. Then I see 10 unmoving people in one area and I know I've got it.

You have to be seriously delusional not to see that ESO has some of the worst and most blatant hacking BOTs I have ever seen in over 10 years of playing MMOs.

Yes, every game had it share but no main stream MMO, as I would categorize ESO, has ever been just so unable to stop such obvious and massively scaled hacking/botting.

Honestly, I really get the feeling they can't stop it without major changes to their "instanced/phased" server model. You almost get a sense of panic from Zen with their silence and complete inability to stop what is now comically bad.

Games have bugs, games need time to fill in some gaps that were not included with release and games need time to steady themselves....we all understand these things come with new MMOs. This is nothing like other releases...nothing.

This ship might not be sunk but it has taken on a rather sizable hole and the water is starting to gush in. The captain and crew? No where to be found or heard from.
