Another Golden Pursuit I have no interest in (Disappointing Season Zero)

That was too easy, and highlights why there cannot be additional rewards for challenge difficulty unless they separate instances. Change to Vestige, run a couple rounds of dolmens, kill some of the goats by one of the dolmens, and a world boss that i figured would have a couple other players, and I'm done.

Im a mediocre, off meta player. As someone who had no real opinion on overland difficulty beforehand, I have to say it's actually kind of cool. The pursuits can be completed on Seasoned which really isn't a huge step up in terms of TTK or damage received. If you have companion with you to tank, most world bosses are even straightforward.

I skipped Night Market because it was beyond me as solo player, but this one isn't really a stretch. Do three Alikr dolmens on master - easy 5 or so knocked over with zero effort.

As always, you're free to play how you want. But this one really is low effort.

And you might find you enjoy Seasoned. If you can level a character to 50, you can play on seasoned.

I love it so much I finished it in less than two hours, and it was so much fun as well. I'm probably going to do the rest of the challenges too even if I got all the rewards already.

    Please keep it coming ZOS!

Sticking to the topic of the thread...

I'm personally looking forward to completing this Golden Pursuit. Season Zero as a whole has been entertaining thus far!

I've really enjoyed Golden Pursuits until now. This is the second one based on a new system that I have zero interest in. I did not do the Night Market one and I won't do the difficulty settings.

I know that it's my personal choice to not do these, but I don't want to spend my game time on activities I don't enjoy.

This whole year has been a string of disappointments and I hope they come up with something more appealing because I'm running out of things to do.
Not every Season is going to be for everyone, and that’s okay.

Season one will have the Thieves’ Guild sequel story (solo), the Sheogorath story (solo), the Favors mini-storylines (solo), and eventually the High Seas event (solo or small group). As such, there really isn’t much for group players in that Season, particularly players who prefer difficult group content.

This is not exactly the OP's point, but putting these two posts together, I really have been feeling more and more that ZOS is clearly trying to address a backlog of items that they think people really want, but the sequencing could have used more thought. I also have been feeling for a while that I've been running out of "new things to do," and it's because, with the exception of the Night Market, the large majority of things released since the new model has been functionality that can only be enjoyed by replaying content that exists already. Class updates, Tamriel Tomes, and now the difficulty levels. That's all well and good, but there hasn't been enough actual new things sprinkled in between. Personally, I am REALLY missing not getting new group dungeons. But collectively there's no new lands, no new stories, no new dungeons, no new classes, no new companions... nothing new that's permanent. I play almost all content so, while I enjoy group dungeons the most, what I also like is knowing there's always a new thing to explore, a new thing in queue that I can embark on when I have time. I prefer it when I have not "finished" everything but instead know I have at least a few weekend's worth of content in store that I haven't done yet. This also means that anything time bound and event based doesn't "scratch that itch" for me, even though I may participate and enjoy it.

I'm not sure how ok it is if ZOS doesn't make an effort to have each season appeal to a wide variety of players. I'm definitely understanding of ZOS breaking the cycle such that EVERY cycle doesn't HAVE to have a new companion, a new world, x amount of dungeons, a trial, etc. BUT. Veteran players are not going to stick around through multiple seasons if there isn't at least one thing that appeals to their playstyle, in my opinion. So which content is appealing and who isn't engaged currently is likely important for ZOS to know.

It's why there was such an outsized reaction to the Night Market and its group-focused scope. It was the first major new thing we'd seen in a while. If, say, the Shegorath story was chosen to be released in this season, before the Night Market, I don't think it would have been quite as polarizing.

Lastly, regarding the Golden Pursuits, I have a feeling that going forward Golden Pursuits are going to be largely relegated to serving the purpose of enticing people to try the new thing, because all other "go do x" rewards will be in Tamriel Tomes. I could be wrong but I doubt we'll see a lot of Golden Pursuits aimed simply at giving us something do with a mix of activities, broadly appealing and easily soloable, and not tied to new functionality. For better or for worse, I just think that's going to be the strategy.

I'm sure I'll do this Golden Pursuit and that it won't take me long, but the difficulty levels are not that exciting to me

I have to agree. Think golden pursuits are going to be a way of making it an event out of an activity they want us to try without actually making it an event.

with so many people around it will take no time to do this, I did in 1 houre on just master lev.

I found Vestige public dungeon mob packs slightly easier than soloing Night Market mobs. On that mode it took half an hour to complete the GP even factoring wait time on boss spawns. One Alikr anchor, a Harvester WB with a couple other players, and the public dungeon was all it took. I soloed one boss, while getting one-shot by another even with other players around.

Although killing goats to complete "kill enemies" on Vestige difficulty is probably not something to advertise, effective but a bit sad!! o:)

This is probably my favorite aspect of Season 0. I love how it encouraged relatively ad-hoc grouping outside a dungeon environment.

Being able to do things with friends or just people around you a lot of fun when there is a bit of challenge to be shared. So more things like this and Night Market would be welcome for me. Though like you said this veered on the easy end so didn't last very long.

I like the Golden Pursuit. It was a lot of fun and goes very nicely with the changes to Overland. I have always enjoyed the Golden Pursuits and look forward to them. Like everything, some people may enjoy other aspects of the game, but that is no reason to stop continuing on with good events like these for the rest of us. Please keep up the good work @Zos

the amount of complaining on this forum about any little thing has really come to a point where i dont even like looking at the forum anymore...just brings the mood down...reddit is much more uplifting...

instead of complaining you could think about hmm how can i - with MINIMAL effort - clear this golden pursuit in 30-60 minutes while being asleep at the wheel... for example by joining a dolmen group in Alikir and simply switch through the difficulty settings - 0000000000000000 effort on your part

I'm happy to have a golden pursuit, it's something to do. Is it the most riveting, broadly appealing one? No, not for me, but still - a few thousand gold and some giggles at dying to ridiculous mobs. I don't think I would've otherwise done much with Challenge Difficulty, so it got me to try something new. I'll go back to adventurer here in a few minutes.

FWIW, I didn't do the NM GP because I had no interest in NM after a certain point. I'm ok with some thing's not being for me.

Not for nothing, but slap it on Vestige. Go to Alik'r, run 3 Dolmens with the farmers, cast a lot of AoEs (preferably class ones), stand in enemy AoE and block, drink potions every 45 seconds (whether in combat or not), cast ultimate 5 times. 15 minutes, GP completed.

I get you don't enjoy the challenge difficulty, but 15 minutes of mediocre effort for some rewards seems a shame to pass up.

Out of curiosity, what do you normally do in-game? Do you do Dolmens or WBs or Group Dungons at all?

If not then I can understand not wanting to mess with stuff you don't typically do. I don't PvP for example unless the rewards are super duper something I want. I didn't bother with the NM beyond getting the House like two days before it ended.

But if you ARE doing this Overland stuff, it really isn't too bad at all to plop Seasoned on and run around doing Dolmens for a bit. I did the GP on both my accounts in about 1.5 hours, on my WW for both of them. The WB one took the longest to do on both since I was doing ones that weren't ganged up by other players.

Tho admittedly on my alt account trying to kill WBs by myself in WW form on Seasoned was next to impossible thanks to only being like CP200 (probably less actually). It worked fine on my main but I'm still too squishy and weak on my alt to do that lol.

If anyone needs another tip, the World Boss at the summoning altar in Stormhaven (next to the exit to Bankorai) has had a ton of people at it every time I have gone there due to the tome entry that asks you to kill it. Easy way to get the Vestige Boss update as you can just stand far away and hit it and you are done.

I got hit by some sort of AE by the boss on Vestige that one-shot me so range is easier, but as long as you hit it once your fine. I got update while dead lol.

It's not a matter of me not wanting to mess with stuff I didn't typically do. I am simply just not interested in difficulty mode. I put time and effort into developing my characters to be strong and powerful. I should be able to dominate overland enemies and enjoy that I can.

Players are frequently told if they don't like something just don't do it. Well I don't like the concept of the Night Market or overland difficulty so I'm not doing them.

The thing is, if you're doing things that other people are already at like Dolmens, then...feeling strong and powerful is kind of null and void because things tend to die super fast thanks to other people. You won't notice the difference between Adventurer or Seasoned because things die within a second of being spawned either way.

The same is true if you go to WBs that are popular because of Tome Challenges, like the Alter site in Stormhaven or the Unfinished Dolmen in Wrothgar. There are also usually a lot of people running around the Forgotten Crypts Public Dungeon in Deshaan.

Ultimately it's up to each person what they will or won't do but like in this case at least, you won't be able to tell you're on Seasoned because of literally all the other people helping kill things within seconds, the same as if you were on Adventurer. I've felt literally no difference between the settings in cases like busy Dolmens, stuff melts regardless of your setting.

As a really bad player, I decided to hunt down poor 1 HP animals in Wrothgar - that went very well and fast.
Oh - of course on maximum difficulty.
Ran rather by accident into a bear, with companion and pets, that was not terrible either.
So I'll now try to grab *that* title.
And on my farming runs, that's max difficulty as well - it slows me down a bit, but not a lot (m ore an issue with not using Wild Hunt but Oakensoul instead).
