They should make an ESO Lite version of ESO+

SundarahFr3akinrican
It'd be nice if they had a Lite version of ESO+ where it was only the craft bag and maybe other small things, while the DLCs and more would be for the full ESO+ subscription.

I feel like a lot of people would sub for that.

It would be a good first option for players starting out in ESO as well as for long time players that are thinking of dropping the sub all-together.. potentially.

A sub around 7eu for just the craft bag is a great idea. Everything else behind the standard spend. The marketing team just need to figure out if it is worth the lower barrier of spend per entry, or, if it could entice players paying the standard to choose to pay the lower tier!?

A two-tier system for ESO+ could work out really well for the players, but considering the number of people I've seen say they only sub for the craft bag, I wonder how much revenue would be lost by people downgrading to the lower tier versus how much revenue might be brought in by people who currently don't sub upgrading to the lower tier.

I do think it's a good idea, though.

This is exactly why I stopped my yearly sub nearly three years ago. Since I already own all the DLCs, the full ESO+ membership offers very little value to me beyond the craft bag.

If there were a lower-priced, 'Lite' version focused just on the bag, I’d still be a subscriber today. As it stands, playing casually without it feels like a chore, and honestly, the inventory management is what keeps me from logging back in.

I’d happily continue to support the game with a tiered subscription model, but the current 'all or nothing' approach is why I’ve stayed away.

    no

this just invites them to make the current sub more expensive.

    just no.

A “Lite ESO+” that only includes essentials like the Craft Bag would honestly be great. I’m pretty sure my wife would come back to Tamriel if something like that existed.

And maybe one day I’d even let my kid play ESO.
Right now I keep him out on purpose, because the thing we call “Elder Scrolls” doesn’t feel like Elder Scrolls anymore and turned into something I don’t want to pass on to my kid.

And paying €12.99 * 3 players, is completely out of the question

given how many people hold the craft bag, the furniture vault and the increase items levels as the reason for ESO+ - i doubt they would put together an ESO+ lite with those aspects - i think it's far more likely something like ESO+ lite would have access to DLCs only - and the addons of craftbag, furniture vault and increased storage values being the perks for the 'normal' ESO+ version.

I think they need to reevaluate eso+, eso+ at least to me is just about releasing player’s inventory from being held hostage. And much less about having access to dlc. I understand they want to make money but there is a better way to go about it.

They could sell the craft bag and the furnishing vault separately with a starting base number of slots each; then allow players to buy more slots and expand those containers as they need to.

I would be happy if they split the sub into two tiers, and the higher tier included the premium stuff in the seasons so there would be a version of the subscription where you can truly access all content as originally envisioned.

And I would switch to it, if the cost wasn't too much higher. I really prefer an all-inclusive model for my MMO's. But I'd also like to see a more accessible craft bag for players, especially if it would help maintain or increase population levels.

What I don't know is how many players are left who are like me, vs. players who would downgrade.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

There's no reason they couldn't do something like this. Most people say they only sub for the Craft Bag, and out of those people I'd be willing to bet a fair percent don't do a lot of crafting but only get it to help with inventory management. Even if you don't do a whole lot of crafting, the mats you DO use can still take up a decent chunk of your inventory. And heck, even people who don't craft but hold on to certain mats to sell would have numerous slots taken since a fair number of mats are worth a nice pile of Gold.

At the same time, there are probably a ton of people who want to sub but can't (like Console needing to pay a sub already, or people choosing between Plus or a paid Tome). These people would be a lot more likely to sub if there was a less expensive option. And for anyone who'd say "well what's to stop everyone who only subs for the Craft Bag from just taking the cheaper option", we'll, there's two things to consider:

    1) There are a lot of perks that plenty of people wouldn't want to give up, such as double bank space, double Furnishing slots, Costume dyeing, access to previous Dungeons without having to buy them, the monthly Crowns, and so on. A cheaper sub naturally means any number of those perks wouldn't be included, and;

    2) The Craft Bag could itself be limited to, say, 200 stacks of items, maybe less idk lol. It can be enough that people who don't do a lot of crafting or only hold crafting mats to sell can get stuff out of their inventory, but people like me who craft A LOT and thus have a metric <snip>ton of mats wouldn't benefit at all from and would stick with the normal sub.

I doubt they will offer a lower tier. In a word of rising costs and prices as a whole its a surprise that they haven't increased the sub cost in 11 years.

What i see them doing instead is trying to add value into the subscription so you are tempted to continue wnd see value in it. You gotta ask yourself this question: if craft bag isnt what will make me pay the cost... then what will?

Same thing would happen as with streaming services. The cheapest option would be so incredibly bare bones (like only SD quality for some streaming services) it's no use. And all of them will increase in price year by year.

If ESO+ is now $15, it would split into something like $10.99 for craft bag only, $14.99 for full ESO+. Next year it would be $11.99 for craft bag, then $12.99. And at the same time full ESO+ would go up a few bucks. And soon the "craft bag only" version is almost the same price as ESO+ now and the full ESO+ would be more expensive.

Just like streaming services have done. The cheapest option is now about the same price as the full HD version was a few years ago. And the full HD version is now more expensive than the 4k version used to be a few years ago.

They should make it 1 dollar/pound/euro less than what the full ESO+ sub currently is.

Streaming services are well known for always increasing prices, but MMOs are not. None of the MMOs I've ever played have ever raised their subscription prices. I don't know why having a tiered subscription system would make ESO suddenly start raising subscription prices on the regular.

We're seeing a lot of stuff in the world of gaming we've never seen before, not to mention the world at large. I'd rather not risk it or give them excuse to myself. I know my opinion means next to nothing, as does everyones, especially where financial decisions are concerned. Who knows. But if we're my decision, I'd be a no.

If they're going to raise the subscription price, they're going to do it regardless of whether or not they have a tiered system. I'm not saying they'll never raise it, just that in my experience with MMOs, sub prices haven't been raised over time.
