I love and appreciate all the outfit feedback. I don't know if it's hard to change outfits or not for the devs, but as this thread shows fashion is important and goes a long way for storytelling.

We clearly are watching and judging what is being worn lol.

Hey, the developers are clearly putting effort into it as well. One of the thieves uses like half a dozen different outfits in the questline.

You are confusing the Prowler’s Amulet for the Thieves’ Moon. The Prowler’s Amulet is Direnni in origin and has it tied to a breton group that considered Phynaster a thief god. The Thieves’ Moon is an artifact capable of controlling time that merethic era thieves like Khunzar-ri and Baan Dar utilized. The gems of the Prowler’s Amulet can amplify other items and these gems were lost and one of them was found inside the Thieves’ Moon.

As to why the moon had one, the NPC you take the amulet to speculates the gems were taken out of the amulet by someone and used to amplify other items. It just so happens that Voernet had a prophecy that the Thieves’ Moon was going to be used “For the moment when justice lies in the hands of the unjust." The unjust being the Thieves Guild using it against Koldane.

Since we know Voenret collected other cultural artifacts and he knew it would be used, he likely embedded the Thieves Moon with the Phynaster gem.

Overall, I think that the writing team did an amazing job at giving what many Breton-loving players desired out of a relevant Breton mage. Reading the related books and seeing the content regarding Sage Voernet fleshes out some of the early vagueness between Direnni and the Bretons, and touches upon that early Merethic and First Era lore for them.

I am still playing through the story to form a full opinion on him, but I do have one complaint which is his physical appearance. He is a huge figure in Breton lore, yet his attire is very generic and used by many other NPCs. The robes used here https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/689002/is-there-a-reason-this-outfit-is-still-unavailable

    7trog9bxyel8.png

Now, I'd be fine if Voernet inspired a fashion trend used by people thousands of years later and it reflected in the costume's description once it finally releases. He was a Psijic Monk afterall and these robes tend to be used by generic monk NPCs.

However, Voernet has been with the Direnni (Meretic Era), the Psijic Order (1E 20), and at minimum he was around when Wayrest had nobility (1E 1100). He lived for a long time and could go with many different styles of clothing. Though I hope he is given something unique.

Though I would not mind if he leaned towards a look as the quintessential mage in terms of appearance, like the generic mage NPC from Arena

    AR-npc-MageA.gif

    Or the one from Daggerfall

    DF-npc-Travelers_League.png

It also looks like Voernet uses the Guild's Eye Staff style

    ON-item-weapon-Guild%27s_Eye_Staff.jpg

should probably be a different style since the mages guild was not founded till 2E 230, unless Voernet lived that long.

I have to admit I agree quite a lot. I even spent some time tinkering with the game after meeting that character, trying to come up with a look for the mage Voernet that worked better for me. This was the result:

    s381xgt682oo.jpg

Honestly, I think the ESO team should try to make characters more visually distinct and memorable. For example, something that could look really great on Voernet is a Psijic-style facial tattoo, since that’s such a cool aspect of the Psijics that we barely see on NPCs. It would create a stronger association with them while also making him stand out.

When it comes to elite mage outfits, I’d go with the Stillrise Ritecaller set. With the helmet, it’s clearly a necromancer outfit, but without it, it becomes the attire of a powerful elite mage.

Anyway, I feel like the ESO devs could put a bit more focus on making unique characters with all the tools they have, especially when we’re talking about historical figures who stand out as much as this mage.

Maybe using effects like conjurer eyes, Psijic tattoos, or even more distinctive beards, like the Old Salt one… Honestly, the current Voernet feels like generic Breton number 4,657, and that’s a bit disappointing given how incredible ESO’s customization system is.

    du16o25bdc57.jpg

Going by the questline, Voernet is always depicted with a crown, a staff, and a book. The crown is a retextured crown of mannimarco, the staff an infinite archive arcanist class staff (which is different from the one he uses), and a regular book.

If we do end up getting a unique outfit for him eventually, it could be unique since we don’t get many crown motifs.

I really enjoyed the quest line.

I liked how your choices could influence the outcomes a bit.

I played through the line twice and both of my characters had different experiences.

One murdered everyone that I was allowed to kill and got told off for it a fair number of times and had Seline's father die because I didn't want the Lion Guard to be involved.

One avoided killing everyone I wasn't required to kill and got the Lion Guard involved to save Seline's father and ended up failing to get one of the nowhere keys because the character didn't do enough damage to kill the guy after I failed to rob them (Amusingly the fail occurred on normal difficulty and my other character easily got the kill on Master).

    Some minor quibbles:

The majority of the quest rewards are a bit underwhelming. Bahraha's Curse items aren't really all that special at this point and you can easily get items you wouldn't use during the quest line such as heavy pieces.

Quen has a warrant out for her arrest and is wearing the same thing all of the time despite having been sighted. Even the Captain Sansonme changes outfits for changing situations.

The initial pitch for the quest line while reminiscent of Skyrims is not the most appealing. Most of my characters don't really want to be called a Skeever. Most of the individual actions you commit during the quest line are things that many characters would be comfortable doing from an RP standpoint but, the actual pitch of building a Thieves Guild in the area is a bit less in ones comfort zone.

The Sommel Powder seemed to be more expensive than it was worth for most of the areas that I used to steal at. It does have a coll visual tho.

It seems that we are intended to get caught and tossed into a 'prison' so someone can come save us. I do not like situations were I am forced into confinement so someone else can save me. This causes a feeling of failure even when it could not be avoided. In the case of this quest line, I avoided being seen but was sent to the prison anyway as I was leaving. If she wanted extra stuffed to be stolen, she should have paid me to do it. I do not work for free and I did not want to complicate an already 'impossible' process. My first character went for the extra stuff, got caught, lost the stuff so what was the benefit?

If being caught is unavoidable by game mechanics . . .
. . . have the events show this. It is not good to allow a player to sneak through the quest only to be caught leaving by a guard that wasn't there a moment ago.
. . . create a dialogue that does not demean the player character for getting caught.
. . . Find a way to build up the street creds of the three thieves without demeaning the player's character. Some players maxed out the guild and completed the story line. Those folk deserve credit for their work.

What quest did you get tossed in Prison on?

I've done the line till the bug with the staves on two characters and I didn't get thrown in prison on either character. Character A was a Nightblade that basically used invisibility to do the quests. Character B was a DK that killed every single NPC that was killable.

The part where after you get out of the confinement, you have to kill the boss. If one does NOT have to be caught there, then I have a bug to report as I completed the objective and was heading out when the guard appeared out of nowhere and sent me to the 'prison.'

I ran the start of the quest line thru again and I finally had that happen. During that quest you have a timer. If the timer runs out, you get captured. Personally, I think it is kinda cool that even on time three I'm running into different things.

Sorry, I did not see this post due to a repetitive use of quoting with large images.
I heard her say that it should be fast but speed didn't matter. Since it didn't matter and there was no timer, I parked my character for a few seconds to assist another irl. If it mattered enough to fake a capture, then there should be a timer. AND, once I activated the door, it should have ended the time secession not capture me at the doorway. I executed the E, heard the door noise, then saw the guard in my face. Perhaps it was very close; the clock should have ended when I executed the E to open the door.

[*]NPC Appearances – Lion Guard and More [Feedback]: This is a carry-over from last week’s PTS Summary. We’ve seen your feedback related to the appearance of NPCs you’ve encountered during the Thieves Guild content (and beyond.) For example, wishing the Lion Guard NPCs used the new Lion Guard Captain uniform. We are working on some outfit updates for key NPCs and a few factions based on your feedback. We have also seen the related request for broader NPC makeovers across the game. While our main focus right now remains on Season One content, we hear you and will keep this request and your suggestions in mind! (Related post.)

the Sage Voernet Statue and Sage Voernet's Memorium still has the same appearance this patch. Is his look already for sure how he will look?

I assume the Lion Guard update was for NPCs involved in the Thieves Guild questline? Just noticed only TG characters and Lion Guard Elite had updates and nothing outside of it. (Spoilers are to avoid a wall of images)

For now, only the Season 1 relevant Lion Guard NPCs have had their appearances updated. We are still looking at Sage Voernet’s appearance to see what we may be able to do there as well.

As mentioned earlier, we would love to take a broader pass on NPCs throughout the zone, but that will depend on how much time we have available alongside the emergent work for Update 50 itself. So no promises on the extra updates, but it is something we have listed as a nice-to-do eventually.

    Hey all!

Love the enthusiasm here, but I do want to temper expectations a bit. Our main focus right now is still anything directly tied to Season 1 content.

That said, while we’re in there we are taking a look at a few related appearances where it makes sense and time allows. So it’s less “full zone makeover” and more “targeted cleanup and evaluation.”

No promises on any specific requests just yet, but it’s definitely feedback we’ve seen and are discussing. Keep it coming 😄

I think the team at ZOS should consider focusing not only on the Seasonal content, but also the zone that is being renovated at the time.

For years now, the reason given for the lack of updates to basegame zones was that your focus is on the new zones. And I get that, I understand there's limited resources and you gotta prioritize...

But Season 1 is your best opportunity to make Glenumbra the best it can be. An opportunity like that may never come again. Are you going to be improving Glenumbra NPCs when you're busy working on the next Skyrim zone? Probably not.

The team has done a great job creating all of these unique cultural outfits, motifs, and costumes over the years. They are fun expansions on the lore and cultures of Tamriel. And I think it's a shame we never get to see them used to their full potential to make the world feel more diverse, appealing, and immersive.

I’m liking the new look for voernet. I especially like the wizard hat.

    sscvkgr08ecu.png

I see for pieces of his outfit you are using assets from the new tamriel tomes and I had a lore question related to the choice of outfit. are Tamriel tomes meant to be associated with voernet in-universe? He now has parts of his outfit from the tomes and in the video below, you can see the Codex Voernet open up at 1:37 as a representation for Tamriel tomes.

Sage Voernet's Statue during Codex and Cartel still uses the same older clothing. I assume its an NPC with a stone texture applied since it moves when scripted to

    o6xw0v8k1cqv.png

The Long Patriarch Beard might work better for the "gray of hair and long of beard" description mentioned in the Mathiery: Archway and Flame book. 9ncu0vrtkpzh.png

Thank you all for taking the feedback. I think the new outfit fits with Voernet's lore of traveling the world and studying various cultures. The Khajiiti robes indicate he has been to Elsweyr, the Sarthaal pauldrons that he has been to Skyrim. etc.

It is difficult to find actual feedback regarding the quest when all I can notice are oversized images of 'fashion.'
While appearance is important, perhaps created a separate feedback for how a quest NPC character looks rather than how they function.

My feedback regarding Voernet's clothing choices is "actual feedback" though.

I am someone that plays to be immersed in the game world and have a hyperfixation on Bretons and Breton culture. To me now, Voernet is THE Breton Mage when I think of a Breton mage. The writing team did a fantastic job with him, and they created a much-needed magical figure for Breton RPers to reference and latch on to. I am glad that his appearance has been elevated to reflect that feedback as he now looks like an important lore figure and not some random background NPC. I am very excited to see what they have in store for him in the future.

Other people left feedback about other NPC appearances because many play for the roleplay aspect of an RPG. The team has been very responsive lately so we may have gotten carried away about posts for it but I'm sure that those of us that commented are just happy about their responsiveness.

The art team is very talented and has done an amazing job bringing the visuals of ESO to life and I want to see the assets that they created to be used in the game because they have a trove of items to show their creativity with. The team updating the Lion Guard Captain outfits to their captain motifs for example improves our immersion in the world of Tamriel.

My intention was not to bloat the thread with images, and I apologize if this affected the readability of the thread.
