Nix-Ox War Steed changed for Rubyflare Torchnix at stables.

So I found out now when logging in for the first time since update, that the Nix-Ox War Steed I had looked forward to getting after so many years, has been changed to one of the glowing torchnix ones I'm not interested in.

According to a patch note it was changed because of some player feedback and some people already had it from a Morrowind promotion years ago. A promotion I'm familiar with because it was during a period I wasn't playing so i missed it (I'm sure many others did as well) and been waiting for it to return. Well no Nix-Ox War Steed for me yet again apparently. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

Funny this get changed, but they don't change some of the bonkers zone choices for the mounts. Like how the Sapiarchic Senche-Serval, a Summerset originating mount, is bought in Colovia, meanwhile the Highland Spotted Lynx, a mount originating from Colovia is bought in Summerset, seriously what.

Yeah those last two should definitely be swapped around. Hopefully they bring the War Steed to the Bazaar.

I think there was already a statement somewhere on the PTS subforum that they think about possibly bringing the nix ox to the bazaar. At least they're aware that people want to buy it.

The torchnix could've gone to the damn bazaar, so the war steed could've been easily bought for gold. Feels like such a weird and late change.

I think some people are sadly misunderstanding the purpose of the bazaar. I don't think we're going to see normal crown stuff in it, but only actually timed items from preorders and one-time events, like how the base nix-ox was, and that dragon hoard treasure, and those free skill styles from some years back.
    Hoping for more playable races

Luckily I was around when the nix-ox war steed was given, but for some reason didn't claim it on NA as well, so I was also looking forward to getting this one for that server...

There's quite a bit about the new mounts for gold stuff that confuses me too. I was also expecting most if not all of what was going to happen to be like the Hammerfell camel that's in Alik'r and the snow bear that's in Wrothgar.

Like, the tessellated guar that was in the crown store and removed with the update, I thought this would be a guar we were getting (I was hoping for this as well), but no it's the black/white shadowghost guar.

As far as I know there's only 1 new mount included (and that's just a recolour of one we've had several variations of already), so "some people already have it" seems like a very odd reason to swap it. I've had the shadowghost guar for years, should I demand it's replaced with one I don't have?

(I wouldn't do that, the shadowghost mounts are some of my favourites and I wish they were all available more often.)

I thought I got this mount when I purchased Morrowind on console a year or so after the chapter first released. I wasn’t sure if I liked it when I first got it but I have grown to love it, I like the fact that it is an ordinary nix-ox like you see in Vvardenfell, not some other glowing variation that does not exist in the game.

I hope others are able to get it sometime soon.

Such rare cosmetics like Nix-Ox War Steed were the main reason to buy chapters at certain date. If these items return in any way, this is disrespectful and disappointing :/Almost everything has lost collector's value in ESO nowadays, please let at least some items remain rare and memorable <3 I was very glad that at least this feedback was listened to on PTS, it made me happy that some items retain their sentimental value - but reading the info in this thread makes me sad again :'(

If you really bring back that Nix-Ox though, then please put the Striped Senche Tiger (and few other items) in there as well - that would be only fair. I (and many other players) have earned those rewards many times already, for example... The fact that it wasn't exactly during certain time period in the past is irrelevant, because the same argument is used for precious Nix-Ox and some other rare items like Dragon's Treasure Hoard. If there is going to be no more rare items and everyone will have everything, then it's truly everyone and everything :|

All the talks about Bazaar and making some special items available there... In the past, this would make me stop pre-ordering chapters for special cosmetics - I would wait for the cheapest chapter sale instead.
But now that the only paid content seems to be Tomes, I am already hesitating to buy any of them because of special items returning. I was going to purchase the upcoming Tome for the unusual wolf mount, but what if cosmetics from Tomes return to the Bazaar as well? :( Items available only at certain time-periods with sentimental collector's value were powerful motivators...

It's not really rare, and calling it disrespectful is exagerrating. Never liked FOMO collector's value on these type of things, and I don't consider the Nix-ox War Steed the same as Striped Senche Tiger. I'm not having an isssue with them adding other limited items I have, like the Dragon's Hoard items, or Pre-order mounts etc and making them available for more people. In fact I'd be happy if people got access to many of them if they want them. One of my favourite mounts is the Falinesti's Faithful Totem Elk, which has only been available during Flames of Ambition Collector's bundle existed, but I would be happy others have access to it if they wanted, it's one of few bosmer themed mounts.
It gets extra silly when it's something like the War Steed because it's the most basic looking nix-ox there is and has the same colour as ones we see in zones.
If we go back on things like the Striped Senche Tiger, Ice Wraith and monkey, we have gotten recolours of the latter two, and wouldn't be odd if we got a recolour of the tiger as well at some point. They should go ahead imo, common animals of Tamriel should be available for people. A lot of people don't mind letting these things or similar things be available for others, because they are silly basic little cosmetics in the game we play for fun.

This is what always bothered me about the loyalty striped-senche tiger: the fact that the exclusive loyalty program has claimed a ''common animal.''

No regular senche tiger will ever be available, ever, now. Any new tiger-based mount will always have something extra, or look different, or not even be an animal but rather a senche-raht person-mount, because a regular, plain tiger is taken up by something unmatchedly exclusive.

It's annoying because 99% of the time I prefer my characters used mundane looking mounts. Like, if I make a character that I want to be using a tiger mount, I want it to be a regular, mundane looking tiger.

If only ZOS were already on the hyper gaudy mount boat ages ago at the time of the loyalty program, because then I bet the loyalty mount would've been something stand-out, and those of us who don't like that stuff would've probably been able to grab the striped tiger from the crown store for 1.5k or whatever.

The problem I had with the senche tiger is that I could have gotten it even though I didn't buy the game until February 2015, just before the switch to buy-to-play. All I (or anyone else playing at the time) needed to do was buy enough time cards to meet the minimum requirement, because ZOS judged it on what you'd paid for, not how much time you'd actually owned the game or had a subscription. Judging by how quickly time cards sold out everywhere after the announcement a lot of people took that option. (They wouldn't have been buying them for any other reason, considering this was when they became obsolete and unnecessary.)

I suppose now it sort-of counts as limited because it was only available in 2015, but the idea of it being a loyalty mount for people who put up with being messed around for a year (well, 10 months, they didn't make it to a year as subscription-only) was ruined by their inability or unwillingness to track anything except how much money you'd handed over.

In general though I don't care about the idea of "exclusive" items in a game. Someone else having the same horse or whatever doesn't change the fact that I've got it and can use it, and it certainly doesn't affect how much I like it. Honestly most of them I don't even remember where they came from. Or I only remember some details, like I know I didn't pay for the original elk mount because I literally burst out laughing when I saw the price, I got it free in-game later on somehow, but I don't remember when or where that was. The important thing is I've got it (and didn't pay real money for it), not where it came from.

Several people, I think (in any way, I know I have also made that suggestion on these forums). I still appreciate what we got now, of course. But I'm also surprised about why we got the mounts that were chosen, as in: How and why did they choose exactly these? Especially in cases where the mount type's name clearly says it's from one specific region, but now we find it in a completely different one.

I think the idea has been around since the early days of the game, when the only mounts we had were the 4 horses bought from stables and the white Imperial horse. I'm glad they've finally done it, but I agree I'd have liked plain mounts and ones that match the regions more consistently.

The actual smart move after a year of seasons or maybe 5 or 6 seasons, is to make seasonal bundles of the best stuff from that seasons battle pass and sell it in the store as a catch up. To make tomes worth the price, there is gonna have to be some cool stuff in them. And not just 1 or 2 items. Each season is likely to be filled with awesome housing items, decorative stuff and house guests. Probably skill styles. Bankers and other utility items. Pets, costumes and mounts obviously. Less cool but sure to be there, momentos and emotes as filler. Maybe titles. So there's gonna be tons of stuff that people will want that they may miss. They would be smart to bundle it and sell it next year. I wouldn't expect to see it in the bazzar.

As for rare things. I have all the pre order mounts I think as well as the dragon trove. It doesn't affect me at all if someone else gets that stuff. I don't need to feel special by having played at the right time, there's no achievement there. Start giving out stuff you need to work hard for, then we can talk about there being a problem.

I very much doubt they'd sell stuff as a bundle because it would likely be very expensive for all the stuff it would likely contain, and most people wouldn't use a good half of it and thus it wouldn't be worth the price. It would be dozens of items more than likely after a full year or year and a half of Seasons. Keep in mind how much individual Costumes, Mounts, and other Collectibles cost, even at the bare minimum. It makes more sense to put some of the stuff in the Bazaar and some in the CS.

As for things remaining exclusive, I've never really understood the mindset. If I buy or earn something it's because I want it, not because I want to have it while locking people who'd also want it out of being able to have, or to show off. Other people having something does not detract from my ability to use it, and if it was something earned it does not detract from the fact that I was able to earn it rather than buy it. I don't care if someone thinks I bought something or not, especially not random people I don't know and will never talk to. 99% of people playing the game aren't going to recognize what every "exclusive" thing is to care either way anyway. I can't tell you the last time I've seen an Ice Wraith loyalty Pet, and most folks seeing one would just think it's a Crown Store item.

I think it's cool they're adding a way to get rare or limited items, because it means the things I really like will be stuff other people can enjoy if they missed it. It also means stuff I missed for one reason or another might finally be brought back one day. One item in particular I'm hoping for is the Skeleton Pets. Afaik they've only released those once, back when they first came out along with the Mounts. Which they've brought back a handful of times but NOT the matching Pets fsr.
