Let us Dodge Non-Combat Projectiles (Mud Balls, Revelry Pies, Murderous Strike, etc)

This isn't a super pressing issue or anything, but it always bothered me how you aren't able to avoid getting hit by projectiles like these if a player uses one on you. These projectiles will home in on you and hit you without fail, even if you block, dodge, or obstruct line of sight.

It would create more interesting interactions with our fellow players if we were able to dodge these non-combat projectiles.

Maybe just for the memento versions. The quest item versions should remain as is so they can be used properly.

More importantly, they need to not interrupt emotes. They're currently a way to troll people, and it surely generates support tickets.

Fun fact: originally, you could dodge mudballs.

This had the side effect of allowing the throwing and subsequent dodging of mudballs to generate ultimate outside of combat, which is why they were changed to be undodgeable.

Currently, the only way to avoid a mudball hit is to outrange it while it is in flight. This is not that uncommon when I'm trying to hit a target that is already in the process of moving away from me.

You can still dodge mudballs, I have done this a few times during this last New Life festival. I don't remember there ever being a mechanic that generates ultimate when you dodge one...??

I would love an invisible mode for these things, they’re quite intrusive. I have literally been fishing in the middle of nowhere and someone used some emote on me so they could take my spot. Same goes for mudballs, zone in and immediately someone is pelting me.

Since you don't know until you've been hit, how would you do that?

We can see players do a wind up animation when they're about to launch the projectile, and we can see the projectile heading toward us. I'm not asking for an auto dodge — if we fail to dodge, we should still get hit. I just think it would be fun to show off how we're capable of dodging their attacks.

i wish i could just disable the ability for people to use those projectiles on my characters.

to me, it is only fun to use on NPCs.

I know it plays an animation, but I have never once seen someone wind up to throw it at me. I'm not always on the lookout.

Unless you mean the events where everyone is throwing them around.

It's more so useful when you're being repeatedly pelted with projectiles. If you aren't aware when and where someone throws one at you, you should still be pelted by it — but if you do know, you should not be punished for trying to avoid it.

I think if you don't want to be hit by emotes you also shouldn't be able to use them. The non-participation should cover both ends.

I mean there is nothing inherantly wrong with the idea, but dodge doesn't always work now. :D

    Emotes cannot affect another character.
Mudballs, Snowballs, and Crows are Mementos, the Jester Pies are not even collectibles.

so not being able to use those items would be fine as i only really use Mudballs during the New Life Festival quest against NPCs.

I probably deserve it, given how much I howl at people while in Werewolf form.

idk, I set my toon to dance, go to the bathroom or toggle to another window, come back and my toon is covered in mud and no longer dancing.
emotes are personal, momentos and whatnot affect others. they're not equivalent

a toggle to opt out of participation would be nice, esp. since I've seen people use them to harass others "shame" (tosses mudball) "shame" (tosses mudball) etc

anything to keep the tickets down. letting others opt out won't stop every karen who refuses to block people but still wants everyone to cater to them from sending in tickets, but it will at least give most of us who have half a brain an ability to opt out of things that are nuisances. I auto block duel requests and I would auto block guild invites and friend requests were there options to.
