If someone is farming, they obviously shouldn't be able to just queue out. That's been lame and needed a fix.

But you can get 100 Telvar extremely easily. It's a low enough number that someone who hasn't been farming Telvar can't get out either just because they defended themselves. There are things like fishing achievements or keys they may want to turn in.

Something like 500-1000 Telvar would still prevent farming abuse without requiring death taxis for people who are there for non-farming purposes. I guess death taxis aren't the worst thing in the world if you don't have much Telvar to speak of anyway. But I'd kind of preferred people who were purposely trying to die wouldn't run into me on the rare occasion I'm actually playing IC.

I agree. The port out limit should be 1000.

Most of us who do IC daily run one quest then port to Cyro for PvP. It's generally the people farming tel var that abuse the ability to port out to cyro.

While we're at it changing how IC works, let's bring up the idea again that you can only earn as many Tel'Var through a kill as you're carrying with you. No risk, no reward.

Cat and mouse is fine. Is there some game breaking we’re solving with this? Otherwise it’s just annoyance for the sake of being annoying.

Because the current tv limit forces people into high risk, high time consuming activity for low reward.

Good games have low reward activities also come with low risk. But encourage players to take on riskier plays for higher rewards. The higher the risk, the higher the reward. The lower the risk, the lower the reward.

Telling people who are only interested in a low reward, very quick activity that they need to be fodder isn't going to make them positive about IC. It's just going to make them not bother with the mode or bypass the force mechanicism by purposefully dying. And a player that is purposely dying can have negative impacts on unrelated people.

I would suggest replacing IC quests with something like "kill X people", "take district N", "kill boss S" (I genuinely have no idea what all quests are, I have finished only few of them in IC, but all of them was something like "free these people", "burn sieges there" and other slop), then it will be interesting for PvP players and will prevent PvE players from appearing in IC and doing these low reward quests.

In general, entire location is high risk, so if you want low risk low reward out of it, it is not the best location to go. You will receive reward for the quest tho, so this is your "low risk low reward" part of IC experience, you can't fail quest if you die, everything on top of it - a bonus. If you manage to kill mobs and farm TV, well - they are all yours. If you expect low risk low reward - you can also try to farm in sewers, you will hardly meet anyone there.

Yes, we're solving people queueing out mid-combat with a keybind as soon as they realize they can't win the fight. That's a game-breaking issue that's been ruining PvP in the zone ever since they split IC off from Cyrodiil.

PvE players appears there and do quests mostly in event time. And main rewards for this quests are event tickets, not tel var or what is given in boxes.
So no matter what quests will be like, PvE players still will have to do them to get all tickets (trade bars after update).

Another thing I saw mentioned is this change will likely increase and encourage base door camping.

Also, as mentioned before, some PvPers won't participate in IC anymore with the Tel-Var change because they were using IC to wait for Greyhost to pop. That way they could still be PvPing.

Because no ganker on any side of the planet will be sitting there with 10K telvar. Or any, for that matter.
Gankers don't need to carry telvar, which is part of the issue. If PvPers DID need to carry their own telvar to take yours, I'd deem the mode more fair, but PvPers don't like this idea of course.

While I personally think there are better options to deal with this, I will say out of fairness, that such a change would reduce this issue. One of the reasons gankers don't risk Tel-Var is they just queue out.

They still can queue Cyro, just need to bank Tel Vars first, then queue for Cyro - and you can do whatever you want, reaching any amount of Tel Var will not cancel the queue.

How will they bank it then? Logout? And they will not bank any amount of Tel Var, they have to pile it a bit, at least 5k, and then probably bank, logout or walk to their base.

I am OK with changes you offered, because it will hardly change anything for me, 1k Tel Vars to get 40% of target Tel Vars - it is less than before, but OK, just a little bit less. I hardly can image myself will less amount anyway. But how this will help with gankers? 1k is nothing, ganker can just take 1k from bank and then continue ganking. If they lose some of them, it is easy to farm from mobs and then he continues. Or you expect all of them sitting with 0 Tel Var near the base and ganking for 20%? No, they will always take 1k and virtually nothing will change in this equation, you will still gonna die from them, because you are looking for a problem in the game, instead of fixing problem in yourself.

As reported by them in other places/threads, they were queuing for Grey Host and then doing IC while they waited for it to pop. Grey Host kept getting mentioned and I've seen queue times for that campaign be quite long. So I'm assuming that is why they were messing around before waiting for the queue to pop. Whatever the case, I've seen some PvPers express that they will no longer be using IC for this use case when the change goes through.

I have not seen these, I tested it on Week 1 of PTS, and on top of that, you still can queue dungeons, BGs, etc. no matter how much TV you have, so it will not be the problem, I doubt they will stop it.

I saw one message what IF gaining 100+ TV makes them leave the queue automatically, they will not play IC, but since it is not the case now, they 100% continue playing normally.

Here's an example from a different thread.
I play while queueing for Grey host usually. When this goes live I simply won't bother

Problem solved for me. I expect IC will be even more dead than it currently is when this goes live

I was under the impression that you can't accept a queue if you have more than 100 Tel-Var, not that it would take you out of it automatically. Is it not the case?

As I said previously, "reaching any amount of Tel Var will not cancel the queue". You can't join new queue, but you still can accept any existing queue. At least this is how it worked during Week 1, there is no Cyro during second test week, so I will return to this question and probably capture the screen to show how it works in details.

    1. You can join queue to any campaign without Tel Vars (bank them probably), then you can earn any amount, and you still be able to accept the queue (tested near the bank, banked all Tel Vars, queued, took ~10k Tel Vars back -> still was able to accept it and port to Cyro). So, you can join GH and IC queues, accept IC queue, play while GH queue moves slowly, when accept GH as soon as it pops (at least this is how it worked for Week 1 :)). I think it is intendent behavior and it will stay as is.
    2. You can join dungeon and BG without restrictions, only can't q to Cyrodiil and another IC.

Then how will PvE players earn telvar to buy leads? There are only two vendors that sell leads: one in IC for telvar, and one in the IA for fortunes. Antiquities is a PvE activity, so to effectively remove one vendor from PvE players wouldn't be right. Leads at the IC vendor are already grossly overpriced for PvE players who don't engage in PvP but want to buy leads.

(unrelated, but there should be other ways to buy leads. PvP and IA are pretty specific activities that quite a few players don't engage in. Is there a reason why digging up an antiquity doesn't provide some type of antiquity currency that can go towards buying leads from an antiquities vendor?)

Has something changed for leads? You can get them entirely from PvE with rare exceptions, e.x. one lead for DDF and Malacath drops from IC. But if you are PvP player, you can buy them instead of farming in PvE, that is how it works, and IA is an additional source for PvE grinders.

You are trying to get them the most inefficient way for yourself, trying to grind PvP, which is harder for you, than grind them from PvE. Why?

You are trying to get them the most inefficient way for yourself, trying to grind PvP, which is harder for you, than grind them from PvE. Why?

I'm not trying to get them through PvP. I get telvar through doing PvE activities in IC. Someone suggested removing PvE quests, which is one of the better ways to get telvar for PvE players. Yes, there's the IA, but while I like the IA, it doesn't have a save feature. Due to physical limitations, I can't do more than 1 arc at a time (i.e. per day, and if I were to do that every day, I'd aggravate an injury, so realistically I can perhaps do an arc in the IA twice a week, three tops). So while I can earn enough fortunes to buy a lead or two, it takes a while. And there are PvE players who aren't interested in the IA at all.

As for grinding them from PvE activities that actually drop the leads, I do that, but the RNG for some leads is crazy bad, and when there are leads within dungeons and trials, it's even worse. You can spend half an hour to get a chance for a lead to drop in a dungeon. Now do that over 100x. And there is RNG within RNG for leads locked behind treasure maps. The grind is excessively bad, even for the tiny number of players who enjoy grind.

ZOS wisely realized they needed antiquity leads vendors. But we only have two, one in IC and one in the IA. Because there's only those two, if PvE players are discouraged from entering IC to earn telvar, that will leave only the IA vendor, which won't be enough. It's also why I think the cap of 100 telvar is really unfair to PvE players who just want to earn a little telvar towards their antiquities leads fund. ZOS is forcing us into IC to do this because of the lack of a leads vendor for PvE players who don't like the IA or can only earn fortunes slowly.

IC is a PvPvE zone. I think if someone wants substantial amounts of Tel-Var then it's reasonable that they have to take risks and challenges it comes from.

PvE only players have 2 sources for the leads. PvP players have 1. Both will need to sometimes engage in activities they may not find as fun if they want a specific lead because they drop from all content. It's good that the devs want to fix an exploit that allowed people to run away with vast amounts of Tel-Var because it had a very negative experience for PvPers.

I just think it needs to be a tiny bit more forgiving for people who were using the queue the way it was originally intended because they were engaged in low reward busywork.

I am pleased to hear that you can at least accept a queue. That should help the PvPers just waiting for Grey Host to pop.

Maybe reducing the cost of the retreat stones would be in order as well as an overall increase to tel var drop rates in general. That might make people visit IC more, it is rare to catch me in there beyond a bit during Midyear Mayhem. With these changes it will probably be even less, but I already have most of the things I want from the vendor anyways.

10k isn't much if you are in Cyrodiil a lot with a guild farming flips, but not all players do so. Not super worried either way, I don't think this will increase the interaction unless they add more incentives.

This is actually a pretty fair trade off. Good idea. The other option is to drop the retreat stones to only 2k AP or so. That way it's basically free to port back to base except for those few seconds while porting and you can't stealth.

It would be great if ZOS could provide insight into why they want to implement this change.

1-Do they want to stop people using addons that apparently allow you to auto-queue to Cyro, so that you can effectively escape with your Tel-Var assuming that you don't die before being ported.

2-Do they want to stop people that hide and queue to Cyro so that they can avoid going through the Sewers and potentially lose half their Tel-Var along the way? (the ability to do this already makes the ''Sigils of Imperial Retreat'' largely irrelevant)

The proposed change also doesn't say anything about queuing for Dungeons. What is stopping a player from doing something like queue as a Tank to a Random Normal and then leave the group and port to his house? A bit riskier in scenario 1(assuming that people don't just make an Addon for it), but largely the same in scenario 2, just slightly more annoying since the queue wouldn't be instant like for a dead Cyro campaign, but you could still do something like wait the queue in a safe zone.

I remember back when Playstation IC was still busy, I could be killed repeatedly trying to get into a crafting area. Other times it was doors to quest areas. This was the main reason I started collecting attuned sets, so I wouldn't have to go there just to craft. People will definitely camp at exits the same way they did then. Especially will cross play coming and even more targets.

Dedicated PvPers and farmers will still be ok. They'll find workarounds like they always do. At the very least they have a steady supply of AP they can use for as many retreat stones as they want.

This will mostly hurt casuals who are maybe only there for event tickets and comparatively tiny amounts of telvar. They probably don't even know about the exploit this is intended to fix
