I tried to solo one a year or two ago and failed miserably, and I don't usually group up with other players unless I'm reasonably familiar with the content and feel like I can contribute to the fight.

I usually solo too, and don't like dragging the group down. Having said that, my first Hollowjack fight I had no idea what was going on, and was one of several repeatedly dying and rezzing, it was chaotic and hilarious at the same time. Luckily a few players had it together and we didn't wipe.

There's a bumped thread here on the Hollowjack fight, you can glance at it to get an idea of what to expect. I think it's a fun fight.

Yes, I always enjoy it. Having most of the things I don't grind, but I get tons of skulls naturally and the furnishings are nice to have. I just do the normal stuff I usually do and get a lot of the event done while at it. Then at the end of day Jack and Crow which I both enjoy.

Yes, but I do NOT like two events running at the same time(witches/writhing wall).

With two different events running, my objectives clash. Like on one end I want to farm the coldharbour home/style page and do as many of the (crafting) dailies for the writhing wall event. And on the other end I want to finish+start the main storyline on two of my characters and farm the yellow plunder skulls(tickets/style page) for the witches festival. Can't really do both at the same time!

Also, each event has different rules and objectives. I have been playing for years and sometimes even I get confused in everything going on and what I have already done for that day/still need to do that day, for either event.

This event is pretty easy to farm at least some of the skulls at the same time.

Get your incursion skull and siege camp daily from the same fight.

Get your world boss skull and gathering daily from the same fight by killing a world boss that drops whatever it is you need to gather.

You can then kill an invaded public dungeon and delve as they may drop event furniture. They will also give you their respective yellow plunder skulls.

The trial/dungeon/arena skulls will require separate fights. And ofc so will the Crowborne horror and Hallowjack. But you can get half the yellow plunder skulls done at the same time as the event.

I like it but I wish there was more to do. For me the interesting part of festivals in games is having new activities to play, not just bonus rewards. The first evening I did the quests to fight Hollowjack and the Crowbourne Horror (and in the process got plunder skulls from world and delve bosses) and after that all that was left was getting the other kinds of skulls from things which are in the game all year round.

It is fun doing the quests with groups, whether that's people from my guilds or just whoever happens to be around, but it's over too quickly and then it's just repeating stuff for more drops.

In other games festivals have all kinds of unique quests, mini-games and other activities and I wish ZOS would do more of that. New Life and the Jester's Festival are the best for that, and I keep hoping they'll build out the other festivals a bit more but if it's coming it's very slow.

As it is most days I just log into a character parked at a world boss to get the event tickets, then carry on with whatever I'd normally do. It's not bad, but I'd love to be able to go through a whole cycle of activities.

It definitely hits different this year after we’ve been doing a bunch of grinding dailies on Solstice (but keep going, I’m sure the house is in the next box!). And we’re expected to keep grinding this through the end of November, conveniently right around the time the Daedric War event will start. And then another Vengeance test. And then New Life.

The game has set everything up to encourage a solid two and a half months of grinding. Sure, we can all choose not to grind… but we know people will because FOMO, and that means people will hardcore burn out by January.

Also what gives with this year counting the last year event style as a premium reward, to the point that most people are getting an old Crowborne page instead of a Wickerchain page? If I didn’t know better, I’d think that they just lazily copied in the old loot table instrad of spending a second and a half to think about it logically… which unfortunately tracks with a lot of recent decisions…

If it were not for this one detail Witches Festival event would be one of the best of the year: DROP COOLDOWNS.

Seriously, I hate the cooldown on plunder skulls. The cooldown would be ok if the skulls actually dropped a lot of useful stuff, but like 95% of the time you open one it's only inventory fodder. Just let me make up for that horrid RNG with an actually fun farm. ZOS employs the most fun-sucking invisible mechanics to drops all over the game too, and it's just holding people's enjoyment back and not respecting their time.

This is my first witches festival so everything is new to me. Hollowjack fight is fun/challenging. There's tons of backlog of rewards for me to chase and I get tons of plunder skulls from stuff I already do each day. I think similarly to someone else, I am not happy with there being two events at once. Yes some of it overlaps but I find I have a bit of event fatigue, especially since there's already a vast amount of other things I feel compelled to do each day without any events going on.
Pain is nothing but an infinite enemy upon my conscience

Well, I can't do the Hollowjack boss fight with my preferred playstyle because werewolves cannot sneak, and that boss fight requires players to sneak.

Then, as far as new cosmetics go, there's nothing that werewolves can use. For some reason, I expected there would be something more for werewolves this Witches Festival.

Overall, I'm really disappointed with this event and with the new content in October overall. I spent the first half of the month with other games which added a lot of werewolf content this year.

Werewolf themed rewards would be great, here's hoping the devs see this

I agree it's a bit much with 2 events running along side each other. There was a post on the forums addressing this and it was acknowledged by our forums manager and put to the zos team I believe. Hopefully tgis won't happen again, having 2 events running at the same time.

I just opened two of my 4 Gold boxes from Halloween event. They contained Glenmoril Wyrd stuff. Since you people seem to think it's so valuable, I'd like to return it to the appropriate person, if only I knew who that was.

🤣. Don't send them to me. I have gotten purple furnishing recipes, a body tattoo and some furnishings in my gold plunder skulls. I also got the undaunted hallowjack trophy.

SO MUCH YES!!!!!!!!!!! I got the Hollowjack BUST from the **FIRST** kill this year.... last year (I mean, obviously) I never got it, and tried SO MUCH! I'm so so happy to finally have that shiny statue :)

AND I've already gotten a candlefly furnishing AND I'm stocking up on all the spooky stuff (THAT I CAN NOW STORE IN MY FURNITURE VAULT HECKIN YAY).

Also I really love all the spooky costumes and housing contests. I made a monster in my Willow's Pond home just to get in the spirit of it all.

OH OH AND I've already gotten 1 piece of the new style, the FREAKIN HAT (which imo is the best part).......

AND I came into this event with 11 tickets (I think? maybe 9, but w/e day 1 I had enough) and bought the first part of the new Julianos home... which I previewed on the PTS and it's *stunning*.

This is an event I grind like a crazy lady just for all the fun furnishings. I wish I'd get more mushrooms, but I'm so happy to stock up on all these goodies that I can now ENDLESSLY STACK (basically).

    *happy witch sigh* 🎃🧙‍♀️💀

Yes there's some cool rewards and I'm happy you got some of those, grats on the hollowjack bust. I got the undaunted wall trophy and was happy with that but didnt realise there's a bust too. More incentive to do more dailies. I have got purple furnishing recipes, some cool furnishings and a body tattoo so far. Best of luck for more goodies for you 🦇

Absolutely. Decided to create some more alts and make use of the XP bonus. Even been doing those Wall Event crafting dailies for some quick levels on my newbies.

I already have the existing styles and motifs, but I am glad they’re dropping plenty. New style is ok, not really working towards it though.

I suppose it helps that I stopped doing the wall event shortly before Halloween started. I'm rarely motivated by rewards, I play games for things to do, not to unlock items so once I'd done all the quests a few times I lost interest and moved on to other things.

I do want to get the new house because I have ideas on how to decorate it, but once I've got enough event tickets I'll probably stop doing the Halloween quests as well (if that's before they finish, I'm not sure how much time I'll have during the event) and then I'll go back to permanent quests, or spend more time on other games.

I'm not going to waste my time on anything I don't enjoy doing just because ZOS tell me there's a chance I might get some thing I'll probably never use.

I don't mind the cooldown. I remember when there WASN'T really a cooldown- or at least there were ways around it- AND multi-boss "boss fights" could give multiple skulls (pretty sure this also no longer is a thing). There were a lot of downright exploits happening and even if you were on the receiving end, I'm sure probably felt dirty and wrong. You'd stumble through delves and see TONS of people doing weird stuff at the boss and then yelling at you to leave. It wasn't friendly and it wasn't in the spirit of the game. I don't mind a small hard cap. 3 minutes is definitely doable for me, personally. While it would be neat to get them a little more often, I definitely understand and was around for when they did not.

On a side note- I'm having **INCREDIBLE** drops luck this year in my plunder skulls and couldn't be happier :3

I LOVE LOVE the decor and everything everywhere - the rest of it - meh not rly.

As an aside I really dislike the whole event ticket system; just annoying. Has anyone made anything to show when pieces of what will be available? Due to my having the audacity to have a whole life to worry about, I miss *parts* of things that mean nothing is worth doing because you can never finish it.

I think witches festival is one of the better events but I'm also not really participating this year. When I was new, I would grind out most of the skulls... especially running maelstrom arena daily for the arena skull because the dremora motif actually meant something back then. With many style pages selling for approx 500 gold on PC/NA, it really is just underwhelming. Did they even add anything new this year?

I like the seasonal decorations, but let's be honest: For someone who has already been participating for a few years, the loot is worthless. So far I only got the same old style pages. Not sure why I would grind for that. I just get the daily tickets and a few golden boxes for a chance something new might drop (hasn't happened yet), and that's it.

This is generally one of the events I like the most, since it is simple and you can get your rewards from wherever you like. I’m really burned out because of the wall event though, and the miserable drops we have had for so long. I just do four gold plunder skulls for the things I can do solo and I have only got one new style page so far, and it’s one I bought from guild traders already.

Then I go to the Erstwhile Sanctuary house that I just bought and work on a custom build that I have been thinking about doing for years. It’s a much more entertaining and rewarding activity for me. Farming bosses and just sitting there doing nothing for 4:57 every five minutes is so boring.

ive been doing witches festival since at least 2016, so its kind of the same

the gold skulls feel like they are significantly worse drops than usual, mostly just getting dremora motifs and old style pages, get much better things from the purple skulls to be fair

this is the one event i usually use my 2nd acct to semi afk farm purple boxes (already opened close to 200 plunder skulls since event started)

would agree with the general sentiment that some of the old witches things should be moved to the grab bag at this point, and for the love of god delete the glenmoril wyrd treasure maps, those things are extremely awful to get because half the time i just get the glenmoril style page directly so digging up the map is like extra work on something that almost nobody needs nowadays
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities
