Do you prefer a Speed Run or a Slower Run for queued Dungeons?

I'm happy at slow, moderate and a nice brisk pace. My mindset is very much to stick with the majority of the group, especially as I've been a healer for a while. I stay where there is a "team" and if a speed runner runs ahead I stay back with the team.

It's the insane warp speed runs I tend to find annoying. Often because the most impatient players are so disinterested in working as a team on boss fights, they can be quite disruptive. A fake tank/healer who dies repeatedly just makes work for the rest of the team. Where we'd finish sooner if they had stayed with the team and worked co-operatively and known mechanics.

If the actual information will be in the comments, then the poll is useless, because it won't tell what a majority of players prefer.

For instance, if I preferred not to speed run but leave out optional bosses, this poll won't reflect my preference.

So if the poll were to result in 10% preferring speed runs and 90% preferring slow runs, this would mean absolutely nothing if the ratio in the comments were reversed.

Not sure what the purpose of the poll is, other than having a poll appear next to the thread.

The purpose of the poll was to find out what players prefer and why. The actual poll results don't mean as much as the comments, which is true for most polls.

While my personal preference would be a slower run during this event I've experienced a lot of fast runs.

Some were very good, others not. Queued mostly as DPS for characters on both servers who have not maxed Undaunted skill line. I would put the ratio of good to bad fast runs at 80%/20% noting that the majority of runs are what I would call medium and have never ever experienced a slow run in a random group since I started running group dungeons again for skill-points needed for subclassing newer characters.

The good runs had competent fast runners and I stuck to them like glue while we ran past all the trash to whack the boss. Here's where “Joining Encounter in Progress” was golden as those who were stuck behind a wall of thrash mobs were auto-magicaly ported into the boss fight. These runs are the fasted I've ever experienced and were rather enjoyable.

The bad runs had less competent fast runners (noticed this in CMX as my percentage of group damage was very much higher). I still ran right behind them but we got stuck in many mob swarms so these were not fast runs at all.

"Skill Issue" as my bestie Sharp is wont to say. I wryly reply that we've all started out unskilled and he just grunts softly (I take that as grudging agreement).

It depends. I prefer a 'speedrun' as described in the achievement.

Go through the dungeon as fast as possible while killing all mobs and bosses along the way. I absolutely hate it when groups run through all the mobs and die to reset them, skip as many groups as possible, or wait in stealth until they can use a door.
However, I also dislike when groups take ages to kill enemies (due to low damage), go on sightseeing tours, or loot every little corner.

If I'm doing a random, it's not for the story experience. It's for transmutes, XP, and/or some kind of objective likes Endeavors or a Pursuit. I want to accomplish that ASAP and on as many toons as possible.

That being said, I really do get irritated when players spend time jumping in front of doors that don't open, instead of just killing the enemies.

Do you prefer to speed run through queued dungeons or take it slower and do optional bosses?

Speed running with optional bosses, if someone wants to do them.

But please for the love of your illustrious Tank (me) SAY IN CHAT THAT YOU WANT THEM BEFORE WE START. Ive been in 3 bgf randoms these last few days where some dps runs off to side boss and doesn't let me mine any gems so now I'm stuck running my fat ass back through trash looking for a node because why cant I have buff too?

"Hi, can we do side bosses?"

    "K"

Believe it or not, this question isn't binary. You don't have to either mosey along--hitting all the side bosses, looting every backpack, and admiring the scenery--or blast your way from boss to boss. I'd say most folks I know prefer an efficient run but also want to actually kill the adds and loot chests, for example.

    always time for chest.

I enjoy getting the full experience as it was intended, especially if it's the first time thru. It's only when I'm trying to farm the Dungeon either for an event or an armor set where I would prefer to get it done quickly, but I'm not going to hate the world if it slows down for whatever reason. I'm definitely not going to get angry if someone else in the group is doing the quest.

I don't think this question can be answered with just the two responses because this question basically never has an absolute.

FG1 can be done in like 2 minutes if you jump off the waterfall, and I'd say 95% of the time people do the dungeon they prefer to do that.

But then running past enemies often makes the dungeon take even longer than it would otherwise because then you spend 10 minutes at the end of Direfrost Keep unable to go up the ladder because you're still in combat.

Unless you run with experienced groups most people don't "speed run" Veteran DLC dungeons because if they pull before the tank they probably die instantly.

After doing 50 non-DLC pledges you want to spend as little time in the dungeon as possible so you "speed run" it.

Whether or not someone “prefers” speedrunning entirely depends on the scenario.

The poll doesn't make sense because it's too general. There are differences. Almost everyone wants to take it slow and explore things in new dungeons. Most players have gone through base game dungeons many times and want to get them done quickly. Speedruns are also not ideal in many DLC dungeons. You should rephrase the poll, otherwise you will get a result that is not really representative. However, I think you deliberately chose to do this so that the poll would go against speedruns. If this is not the case, you should rephrase or at least add a third option. For example, “Both, depending on the dungeon, I don't care...”
I would like to point out again that the forum community and the people who read this and participate are not representative of the entire ESO player base. What people want here in the forum only partially reflects everyday life in the game. I experience this every day. I use the dungeon finder several times a day - every day. Most BASEGAME dungeons are done even on vet in speedrun mode. Sometimes people complain or leave the dungeon, but that's the exception. This is less true for new dungeons and many vet DLC dungeons. There are tanks and often healers and moderate speed.

I pick on this option while stating that slow run is not “open every container including regular sacks and baskets that contain only junk and actually reading word for word every lorebook” because that is the extreme comment that always surfaces when there are complaints about speed runs. The setup is like those late night infomercials about an “As Seen on TV” product that when used improperly causes you to burn your house down.

I like to pick up the quest
I like to complete the quest, clicking through dialogue as fast as I can so as not to inconvenience others too much
I like to be able to complete the pledge if rerunning the dungeon
I like to arrive at the boss with full stamina so I can have resources
I like to be able to quickly click on lorebooks just to get credit for finding them and read them later

If I don’t get to do #1-3 I have to requeue and wait another 30 minutes because I don’t fake tank. I don’t complain about speedruns and just go with the flow because I don’t have a group anymore, but it makes the 30 minute wait harder to take. As such, I have just queued for easy dungeons during this event to save time at the expense of getting more dlc gear drops, which I don’t have much in the stickerbook for yet.

Advance as group, kill what is in the way to the end of the dungeon, I don't go out of my way for optional/secret bosses unless someone speaks up and says they need them for the quest of achievement.

Can't stand speed runners that just try to run past everything, before the joining encounter thing was added, had more than a few bad experiences where, half the group would get killed trying to keep up and be left for dead at one of the supposedly unneeded bosses happened quite a few times in Falkreath Hold unable to revive while the speed runners just kept going, had no choice but to leave group, it is one of the reasons for the most part I stopped bothering with DLC dungeons, unless there was gear I wanted to use.

Both and neither. So long as it gets done within a reasonable time, and I dont get ridiculed for how I play during the dungeon... I really dont care.

Too many variables and not enough options in the poll

When queueing for a dungeon, which do you prefer? The only options are a speed run or a slower do all bosses run. There is no way to list every possible variable so I kept it simple and to the point.

I use the queue mainly for random normal - speed run every time

If my group queue for an extra person for a base game pledge (and therefore hard mode) - speed run every time

DLC dungeon is different and depends on the random person/s we pick up. We might need to do extra bosses for the buffs in order to do HM, or we might decide hard mode is off the cards and speed run it is.

It depends. Both options are fine. By default, I prefer speedrunning. Unless someone mentions they're doing a quest, working on an achievement, or needs to go slower. Whatever the group decides. But if no one says anything, I'll go for speedrun, because it's the most efficient.
