This one. You two need to be in the same instance. Your friend doesn't need to be at the boss, but they do need to be in the same instance as you. (Busy zones will often have multiple instances of that zone, hence this distinction. When in doubt, use travel to player to make sure you're in the same instance.)

I came here to say I’d love an update to the event system in general. Namely in a couple things:

1) Remove the ticket cap

2) If we’re going to continue to do this pet morph into collectible item X (eg, mount, house, costume), I’d enjoy it if it was simply a prerequisite to have the pet, but we didn’t have to reform the pet every single time. Also, multiple options so we can choose would be cool!

This was complained about last year too when they did these changes.

We finally got an event focused on crafting and trading, and the next year they changed it so it's just like the other events.

To be honest, I feel like the playerbase pretty much brought that on themselves by the way that some players were farming an outrageous number of event coffers each day of the event. That basically left ZOS with two choices-- either limit the number of event coffers that players can earn each day, or severely nerf the contents of the event coffers. Personally, I'm glad they chose to limit the number of coffers rather than nerf their contents.

It was the first zenithar event. Those players who did get hundreds of zenithar boxes, also did the work the rest of the year(s) to create those master writs in the first place.... which takes a lot of time, resources, skillpoints, research, learning motifs(keeping up with motifs or we can't complete master writs), inventory management, etc. It is not like master writs simply appeared in one's inventory, or that players could magically complete them all. These are things most players often forget, all they see is the endresult.

Also, master writs can only be completed once. After that one time they are gone forever, it is not an infinite supply. Even players buying master writs for this event, can't buy those forever as master writs are a limited supply. If the zenithar event would have gone on in the state it was first released in, the number of master writs would have decreased by a lot year over year. So much so that doing hundreds of master writs would have become impossible for almost all players except real crafters.

All this crafting work and effort finally had an event that rewarded crafters, until ZOS changed it. ZOS could have done nothing, and master writs would have filtered themselves out of the game eventually. Except for real crafters, who would keep creating master writs.

PS: ZOS could add a character achievement and set this achievement as a condition to receive unlimited zenithar boxes from master writs. An achievement of being a full 9-trait crafter and all crafting skilllines maxed with skillpoints(basically the conditions to receive master writs in the first place). This achievement would only allow full crafters to gain multiple zenithar boxes per craft.

I also noticed this and it is a touch annoying since I am in a timezone where I could normally stay up slightly late and get the tickets after the reset, but there is no way I'm going to get up 30 minutes before end of the event in the hope that the servers are back up.

Feels like last day of event was yesterday !
