My Breton knight (templar) can pick up some forest vibes from the warden class, my traditional Breton wizard (sorcerer) can finally ditch all the unused daedric lines and exchange them for elemental ones, my Breton druid (warden) can swap ice for the much more appropriate lightning, my Imperial necromancer can pick up some daedric summoning, my Nord dragonknight can actually get that ice storm ultimate.. I could go on and on and on, shaking things up with unpredictable new stuff like this was exactly what this game needed! :D

I always liked the idea of my khajiit being a generalist mage, mixing necromancer he started with, with sorcerer or arcanist, drawing from pretty much wherever he can. Plus, I have hand tremors and can't do weaving at all, so being able to bring tons of pets in open world will be useful.

What I DO NOT WANT is for Zos to spend the months between now and subclassing launch nerfing every stand out skill into oblivion.

That is my one big concern. We've seen them nerf sets and classes prior to launching competing sets and classes before, and I worry they will spend time with the dreaded spreadsheets and nerf Jesus beam, arc beam, etc to the ground as a way to try to prevent totally broken builds.

Like no. Let us have the broken builds. If they are going to do this ridiculous thing, don't do it halfway. Let us have the OP builds, otherwise what is the point? Besides, if Templar mains get ONE MORE NERF they are probably going to storm zos headquarters with pitchforks and torches.

2 x necro pets, 2x Sorc pets, and Bear ultimate

    🤣🤣🤣

Correction: 2 sorc pets, bear, netch, skeletal mage, blastbones, shalks, cliff racers, maw of infernal, mad tinkerer, defiler (or morkuldin, scavenging maw, etc.), so....12 total?

EDIT: missing a few, forgot all combos.

What subclass? This is just class mixing/swapping from what it looks like.

Maybe go in the direction of secondary class by limiting skill line swap to only one instead of two.
On top of double skill point cost also limit secondary passives.
Also do not allow ultimate to be used other than the main class.
There are some ways to to make the class feel primary.

Excited and worried at the same time.

This is….. just not for me. I get how it fits an Elder Scrolls game- and even could be cool for a new player, but as someone who has played 10 years and likes the differences in the classes- I have two characters of every class… and I really like how they are unique.

Oh BUT the penalty is, you must use 2 skill points and not 1 per swapped skill. Better get skyshard hunting.
An valid point but its over 500 skilpoints in the game, all are easy to get outside the Cyrodil PvP level who is very grindy to get to overlord but easy to get to 10.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I'm just bracing myself for the upcoming changes to skills and passives...

Last time Rich and Matt 'went on record' saying that they had no sweeping changes in mind, shortly after we got U35.

Wish I'm wrong, guess we will see on Monday.

Does anyone know if we can use skill styles on sub classed skills?

Subclasses sound good in theory and I hope they work. But since ZOS is still trying to balance classes that have been available for 11 years, I'm concerned that subclassing will turn into a mess. In the livestream, they said there will be more than 3000 possible combinations. I worry that skills I use all the time will be changed or nerfed constantly as ZOS tries to balance 3000 combinations, when they haven't managed it for the small subset that exist now.

So I agree with those that say this will either be a wonderful thing or a mess. Interested but apprehensive sums it up.

There's no reason we shouldn't be able to. ZOS said on stream that subclassed skill lines work the way we'd expect them to — so I assume that means the applicable Skill Styles will work.

Besides, that event last year where we had to level two Classes to 50 to get a Skill Style pack for all Classes was most likely to prepare us for Subclassing this year. We'll get to use those Skill Styles with Subclassing.

Amazing, now pvp would have sorcs streaking into cloack and nightblades with ward…

Perhaps this means they are going to push Champions/Vengence to be the focus of pvp, making subclassing not apply to it.

Probably this from a pvp perspective^

I prefer that much more anyways. No ball groups, no infinitely immortal solo builds, etc.

My hope is that they will just leave everything alone because if any skills are overpowered, everyone can use them. After seeing DOT standardization, hybridization, scribing, etc. being done so poorly, I have a feeling subclassing is not going to be nearly as much fun as people think it will be.

Even ZOS just want to make money, they should increase diversity not killing it. It will interest player to try something different and spend time and money on.

I just hope ZOS is not going to kill ESO for upcoming elder scrolls 6.

haunting curse + merciless resolve + shalks + any kind of stun = instant bye bye, i legit dont think there is a counter to this combo, health goes boom boom and boom.
sorc shield + warden shield and sustain = u can try and get me low
sorc + blue betty = no more sustain issues with maxmag builds, oh and sorcs probably can drop that dark deal now that theres actual sustain options. good job zos, i can finally drop dark deal, no more interrupts with that stupid 1 sec cast time.

all those options up there still pairs well (prob) with maxmag sorc sets, its gonna be even better and more broken than whatever you've witnessed in pvp alrdy

lol its joeover. it opens up too many possiblities, my armory is gonna be happy with all the updated combos.

it'll increase the diversity of ways to insta-kill and insta-heal, thanks zos.

the wtf reaction towards broken playstyles will go beyond the charts.

the only thing i see as an issue, is having too many options now to test around. but again, the meta will settle sooner or later. and dont any of you worry abt meta abusers, i will be first in line to hand out those hard spankings

ggs, some players just got promoted to godly-hood. rly shouldn't have further enabled min/maxers

corrosive + shalk sounds great too, bring back the 1 man dk bomb now paired with warden heals and bursts, oh and heroism too so corrosive can just come back up asap.

to be optimistic, there will probably be more meta combos to choose from. make everything broken, im fine with that.

all we need now is optimism. look into the depths of hell with a smile on ur face, fellow adventurers. the path is predetermined. molag bal wont be taking souls anymore, he can rest for a bit now, the meta abusers will take over that role once subclasses kick in. ensure the mass population to remain soul shriven till the end of time.

there is no room for casuals to exist anymore. either sweat, perma turtle cheese tank, or get 1 shot.

petitioning to start theorycrafting to show zos just how broken broken can get in pvp, so that maybe, their eyes will open. non of them know of pvp.

also petition to let all staffs to experience pvp in GH once subclass meta is set, so that they can get their butts whooped sideways and see for themselves the monstrosity they are creating. let brian wheeler hold his cheese shield

I understand it can turn out quite messy, especially in the PVP field. Personally, as a player I do only solo PvE stuff and try to keep my playstyle lore-friendly and roleplay oriented, and I'm pretty excited for this new option - it could bring a lot of new possibilites in character designing.

Let's say I want to play as a lore-friendly Altmer or Breton mage. Both cultures are stronly connected to Magnus' magics and Aedra-oriented, with Daedra wroshippers being rather scorned. Yet right now, the only options closest to a classic fantasy mage is sorcerer, which has rather dark magic connotations and has strong Daedric vibes, with an entire skill tree dedicated to Daedric magic. Enters subclassing - you can keep the Storm Calling tree with elemental lightning magic, add Winter's Embrace tree from the Warden class for ice magic and some protection utilities, and I don't know - maybe Ardent Flame or other Dragonknights tree for some fiery vibe - et voila, you have a classic elemental mage, focused on Destruction magic school from TES games. Maybe Dawn's Wrath from the Templar for an Altmer mage to give them some Sun-based Auriel magic (although it sounds more like a priest rather than a classic mage).

Or let's say I'd want my orc warrior to have a pet bear, but I prefer him to use fire-based skills of Dragonknight (resembling the connection between orcs and forges) rather than Warden's Winter's Embrace or Green Balance skills.

And can't wait to combine Arcanist, Sorcerer and Necromancer (or maybe Nightblade with its siphoning spells) skills in order to create an ultimate dark magic wielding warlock and find out how this would work in the game.

I do hope this system works out and it won't create unnecessary mess.

I wonder if any of devs considered combination of NB cloak + SORC crystal weapon + some heavy attack set (for example Knight Slayer), this sounds broken for PVP. High burst damage, easy to play and easy to make such a build

ya, the issue here is at the 1500 crown pack price, you are paying 15 dollars PER CHARACTER, AND PET SLOT to get more armory slots.

If you had 20 characters (I have 18) and put bought 8 additional armory slots for each character, at the 1500 crown pack price you would pay $2400.00, yes Two Thousand Four Hundred dollars,

Is that kind of montetization really necessary for a game you pay for, for a game that *requires ESO+ (for housing slots and craft bag), and for a game where you pay for the yearly chapters.

Seems excessive to me. At this point, armory and character outfit slots should be base game.
