I always wondered if this was something they'd go for, but I assumed Scribing would remove the likelihood. Now that it's confirmed, I'm EXCITED. Just wanted to share that this sounds cool. Hope the subclassing is delivered well

This sounds like exactly what a lot of players who love theorycrafting and build experimentation would love--and exactly would drive players who think the game is overly complex and overly unbalanced away for good.

They didn't learn unfortunately. More customization actually leads to a homogenous game as we saw with hybridization. Hybridization reduced the number of classes from 14 to 7. This will basically reduce the number of classes to 1 or 2. Why would you not put Merciless Resolve on every class for example? There's clear best choices within each class that can now be combined.

It is actually restrictions and forcing compromise that creates new playstyles. Something like a Magplar and a Stamplar used to feel very different because Magplar didn't have a good heal over time and that fundamentally changed how the two were played.

I don't think this is a good idea, but it's too late now.

This is an excellent idea.

Min/max players will continue to min/max and continue to pretend like build diversity in endgame was ever a thing.

People who make creative and fun builds will have a lot more options to play with.

So, there is going to be only 1 meta class I guess. And obvious thing is - something like this will break the game & most likely will result in more nerfs than it is worth it. One thing is for certain. A lot of classes will become obsolete - both in PvE & PvP. Like for real, imagine DK with cloak. Yes. Every one will be picking up NB's Shadow skill tree just for this specific skill. While on NB in itself it is somewhat balanced, it wont be on other classes that were never meant to have it as they are more tanky. Like for example DK will be able to rest fight just like NB is on top of being tanky. Sorc ? Same thing. You will have streaking NB's & cloaking Sorcs... that does not sound fun. As mentioned - same thing will happen in end-game PvE. There will be only 3 builds - DPS, Tank & Healer....

I was really hopeful after I saw necro was getting pvp buffs in u43. We got 10 extra seconds on the armor and corpses now don't work outside of combat. Then u44 announced new bgs and we got a downgrade. I'm very cautiously hopeful about this, as it means I could finally get a stun on my necromancer. That said, I know zos is going to find a way to screw up, at least for the pvp balance side. Mark my words

Tbagging wardsorcs after killing them on a ward spamming necro would be cool though

I'm looking forward to it. Templar spear for other classes...thats about as close to new weapons as we're going to get, sadly. I really wanted an actual crossbow

I totally agree.

I want all my characters to be different, but that has always meant simply taking say a nightblade and having either a dual-wielding assassin or a bow-equipped archer. Now one can have a bit of sorcery while another has a bear fighting alongside him/her. That's totally different to turning a nightblade into a sorcerer or warden.

It sounds great, if that's what it means - but, as always, the devil is in the detail, not to mention the implementation, as well as the implications for performance.

All damage dealers will now be Arc beam 100->40, plar beam 40->0 with DK standard for an ult

Will be interested to see how the trade offs work. Wil certainly make overland play more fun with a character that really fits what I envision in my head.

PVP and End Game will be interesting but at the end of the day the top tier groups do similar with thier set ups anways.

There wasn’t a lot of details given. But in their showcase you could see one character using Necro skills with sorcerer skills and Templar skills all at once. So I assume you can just combine three skill trees together. No idea about passives but I would assume you get those too with the skill tree you choose.

I would agree except I kinda expect we'll see massive nerfs as part of this.
