No offence, just curiosity. If you're experienced healer, then tell your impression against
no self healing DPS.

I have [1Tough tank] [1StamSorc-DD] [1Necro-DD] [1Real Healer]

But, I'm Tank main player. Recently I'm doing Healer.

It's OK. But I don't want to save them from non lethal situation regardless good or bad damage dealer.

    i still heal them,
but if i die due to fake tanks or mechanics not being followed by the group then the Damage Dealers without heals might die before they can resurrect me (which they sometimes neglect to do anyways) and then the whole group dies one by one.

I don't care if a DD doesn't have a self-heal. It's my job as a healer to heal them, regardless of how much damage they are doing or not doing.

Are there times when I have to slot a few damage skills to help out? Yeah, it happens, but not everyone is doing insane numbers, and you don't know who is running a dungeon for the first time.

I try to treat every run like it's a Vet hard mode Trial and heal as if I'm going for a no death run, cause that's my job, not to judge people or make them feel bad for not hitting certain numbers or having certain skills.

We all start somewhere, and if I have the privilege of being the first healer a person ever runs with, I want them to have a good run and a good time.

I may have misunderstood the options. I prefer when DDs don't have heals. I've had far too many situations where the DDs in my party are built like healers (and spamming radiating regeneration) and we fail DPS checks as a result.

I don’t see an option for “I prefer them to not self heal”. Its your job as a healer to heal them, they don’t need to have a self heal. They usually shouldn’t.

That said, I hate healing and one of the signs that I ignored is that I would get frustrated DPS wouldn’t just heal themselves.

Honestly say, most of skillful DD know about best position to take effective healing.

So they keep positioning opposite side of the tank, and can do emergency escape
    If they find dangerous AoE...

But most of wrong DD keep standing too much far from team member, and
keep kiting dangerous foe by "alone"(you're not tank, right?).

I can't do such a super wide range healing by solo healer.

Each time I join 12men trial group with another healer, then I notice other healer
    was doing lazy job... :'(

That’s my job! Of course, there are mechanics that DPS need to mind as there are many things that can’t be healed through, but so long as they’re where they need to be (not in stupid but also not far far away), I’ve got them covered! Rather, I expect DPS to not have a self-heal unless they need to do an independent mechanic (shelve books in Scriveners’ Hall, portals in trials, etc.), although I certainly don’t fault PUGs for slotting a heal just in case.

Did I get frustrated sometimes with DD's in a pug? Yes.
Would I ever even think about initating a kick for...one of the reasons you posted?
    Absolutely not.

I don't think we should think this hard about more potential to gatekeep or exclude people.

No heal? We can manage. Vigor slotted? Cool, same. Some heals slotted? I'd rather you do damage, but whatever.

I did even see one DD use a resto staff, just blasting away with it until i asked wth they're on about. But still didn't try to kick them.

So much concern about how other people play. If the content in question is so difficult that a dps slotting vigor instead of an extra damage skill is actually a concern, it may be better to find a coordinated group.

This would be my answer as well.

If I am in group content that clearly requires the DPS to have a self-heal due to mechanics and too many of them don't, such that we clearly won't be successful, at some point I may pull the "sorry, last try me for me" card, but I'd keep healing everyone until politely bowing out.

The only thing that truly offends me as an experienced healer is when people go into group content and don't remove the Ring of the Pale Order. I'm a healer, I want to heal you, please be respectful and don't wear something that keeps me from fulfilling my purpose. Obviously sometimes people will forget to take it off by mistake, but I'm talking about folks who do it on purpose.

As healer main the only thing I dislike is when party members are wearing the Ring of the Pale Order. Self-Heal, no self-heal, doesn't matter, but for the love of god do not wear the Ring of the Pale Order, especially against bosses. Most of the times I bring it up someone will take it off which is nice, but there are people who don't remove it even after being notified of it, those people die and then sometimes leave as a result when it's no fault of the healer.

One round I had a tank whose second bar was all healing abilities w/ resto staff though, that irked me a bit since I'm an Oakensoul healer and can't exactly change my build on my fly, was left doing practically nothing, and then that tank ended up randomly leaving at one point too... I don't like if a char is completely suited to using like a full bar of healing abilities, but regular self-heal on a couple or more abilities that also have offensive function or 1-2 pure heal abilities is fine.

If I were a DPS, I would always bring my own heal as insurance.
If the healer or tank spills coffee on the keyboard, there is a chance I can manage.
Of course, if the healer tells me that self-healing is not necessary and to focus on DPS, I will gladly do so.

I get offended as a healer if a dps is using heals or a shield, especially in easier content, they are wasting a slot and a GCD. Joking aside, I do get the need for insurance, especially in random groups, but if there's a full fledged healer doing their job well, and a DD is still wasting casts to heal, it's not the most efficient play, imo.

A healer should expect that the DPS doesn't have a self-heal. Else why bother to have a healer at all? It annoys me when I see DPS healing, that's my job.

Also that's a skill slot that not providing damage, hurting the entire group.

Why wasn't "DPS shouldn't have to have a self-heal" included in the poll?

This is situational for me as I rarely get in groups with a bad attitude DD, which is generally the only time I'll vote to kick someone.
As far as it goes I'll heal everyone. I tend to have area effect heals on anyway which does not make it an issue.
If it does however get to a point where I have to prioritize a tank during a boss I'll let the DD die if they can't dodge it or get into the "Safety circle".

It totally depends on the situation. If pugging easier dungeons, even on vet, then the healer should have one bar of dps and be able to help with dps. If running in a fixed group of known players then it's most likely better if the healer only heals and wears healing only sets.

If your pugging as a dps, not wearing a self heal is asking for it. If the healer turns out to actually be good/real, then I'll either take it off or just not use it. One wasted skill slot isn't gonna destroy your dps. Or at least, it shouldn't.

    I seldom play heal ..

But as long as the dd isn't jumping recklessly inside AoEs, a healer's gotta heal.

As a group-content DPS, though, I don't heal myself. Common sense and a competent healer are enough to keep me alive.
It's not that hard to stay between tank and heal.

As a dps I almost always try to prepare for the worst when pugging and have some sort of self survival. Some of my builds can pretty much be a healer or backup without the buffs/debuffs.

As a healer, if I blink and they die. It is what it is, lower CP in vet don't have full passives yet and tend to take more damage. Also if they tend to stand behind me or run around in a panic, it kind of is what it is.

If you are pugging or vet with 3dds then DDS should have one and only one self heal (selfish vigor). Organized groups with healer usually don't require DDs carry self heal.if you can't handle that then get better with mechs.

I think every experienced DPS should know to have some kind of self heal, especially when running hard content or random dungeon runs. I've never relied on a Healer to keep me alive and never will. When I run my Healer(s) in random runs I often run into those DPS that think no matter what they do or where they go the Healer should keep them alive.

Uh, no, it doesn't work that way. My best example is running Vet DLC dungeons and the DPS just stands in one place being pelted constantly with damage and never moves, blocks, etc. then gets angry when they die. That has happened quite a few times. That is not the job of the Healer to keep that player alive when that player just stays in one place usually standing in RED and complaining they are taking damage and dying.

Assuming everyone likes to do some solo overland and maybe not everyone likes to change skill slotting for groups, I think it is a good idea for dd's to have a self-heal. Even in an organized group, I think it's not a bad idea for dd's to contribute to their own healing depending on the situation, just as I (as a healer) contribute to dps for the group.

What distinguishes the healer is that we slot several 'heal other' skills so the dd's can prioritize damage and worry less about (but not ignore) self-healing. My focus is spread over the health of several characters while not ignoring my own health (a dead healer is useless) and my priority is generally the tank.

As a healer, if I see a dps casting vigor ...I feel slightly insulted, but I get it. Padding helps in pugs especially in vet DLC stuff. Still would rather you just slot a DoT or something, but you do you.

If the dps whips out a resto and casts regen, I ask 'what is this dumb expletive doing' and either kick or bail. I'm usually pulling 30-35k on healer; in groups where I'm doing 40%+ group dps because someone's back-barring resto while their buddy spams bow light attacks, that gets *painfully* slow.
