Ulfsild's Contingency - growing impact bug - MAJOR AFFIXES NOT WORKING

With a recent change it looks like banner bearer was nerfed so that you couldn't share the affix script major buffs with allies, but in the process Ulfsild's Contingency has become bugged. I'm not sure if this was an intended change for banner bearer, but due to this change it appears that you can no longer share the affix script major buffs with allies using growing impact on Ulfsild's Contingency. If you use the heal focus script without growing impact allies allies will still receive the buffs. While using growing impact if allies stand in it and you don't then it will constantly refresh the buff on yourself while allies receive nothing.

This has seriously screwed up our PVE 4 man and trial group setups. Can we get a fix for this ASAP?

    I just tested and this seems to be the case, I don't think this is a known bug yet but it has huge impact in PvE and PvP, @ZOS_Kevin is the team aware of this?

    I tested this and can confirm the issues with Ulfsild's Contingency. The recent change to banner bearer seems to prevent sharing major buffs with allies when using growing impact.

    I just came to the forums to report this when I saw this thread. I bet most people don't even realize they aren't giving the buffs to other people anymore. I'm finding this bug to be incredibly frustrating. Can we get an acknowledgement that this is a known issue or is being looked into?

    Yeah, I'm totally with you on this. We’ve been running a 4-man and trial group too, and this issue is wrecking our coordination.

    The fact that the Growing Impact buff isn't sharing with allies anymore—while it's still refreshing on me—is really throwing a wrench in things. Like, I can see the buff popping up on myself, but no one else is getting it.

    It’s a huge pain when you have to rethink your whole strategy because of a bug like this. Really hoping the devs fix this ASAP because it's seriously screwing up how we run things. Would love for this to be patched soon so we can get back to the setups that were working before.

    *EDIT: Might be a bug who knows - let’s wait and see what they say about it! It seems multiple scripts are bugged atm so most likely it’s another bug (ex: cavalier’s charge script, movement speed bonus damage is being calculated incorrectly).

    How could it be a fix? It is extremely bugged right now. Why would I get the buff while I'm not standing in growing impact, but my allies standing in it don't get the buff?

    Also, how was growing impact effecting banner bearer? Can you show me the dev statement or can we get a community manager person to comment on this and explain it?

    This is definitely a bug, 100%. The issues with Ulfsild’s Contingency clearly aren’t intended and are impacting group play in ways that don’t make sense. Please stop spreading misinformation—it’s not helping anyone trying to figure out what's actually going on here.

    This is the only note I can find for banner bearer. That doesn't explain why banner bearer is bugged with major buffs and why contingency is bugged as well.

    Banner is broken in PvE as well. Immobilize isn't working, and the group ulti building feels like it should be tested further.

With the fix, it will grant its listed amount instead of a percentage amount. This fix is going out with the next incremental patch for PC, and will be in the first incremental patch for consoles.

    For Ulfsild's Contingency, the team is requesting more information on what seems bugged or has changed. In looking at the tooltip for the Brutality and Sorcery Affix Script for Ulfsild's Contingency, it says "Grants you Major Brutality and Major Sorcery for 10 seconds, increasing Weapon and Spell Damage by 20%."

    I'll make a video tonight or tomorrow demonstrating the Immobilize focus script failing in PvP.

    I ran it last night and was catching tons of Immobilizes.

    (This is also exclusively in the context of PvP. AFAIK, the affix works fine in PvE.)

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom The tooltip of the affix is not relevant here. It's the tooltip of the Growing Impact signature (which can be used only with the Ulfsild grimoire) that is relevant: "Creates a rune of power on the ground for X seconds which applies the Affix script in an area."

    I.e., this signature is supposed to make the Affix behave as AoE rather than single-target, but now Affix scripts are behaving as single-target regardless of whether this signature is in use.

    The tooltips for scribing in general are quite confusing, if the poster was referring to Major Brutality and Sorcery only then that behaviour hasn't changed with growing impact, (even though the wording of growing impact makes it seems like it should work the way @code65536 posted) it never worked to spread Major Brut/Sorc to others - which is really a shame.

    @YandereGirlfriend it might be worth checking whether it's when you are rooted at the same moment you bar swap or if it's only because you're in the other banner's influence zone.

    Hello! Following up again, we’ve done some testing using combinations of Ulfsild's Contingency, the Damage Shield Focus script, and the Growing Impact Signature script. What we are seeing is that any of the "Grants Minor..." Affix scripts (as opposed to "Afflicts Minor..." or "Grants you Major...") is granting some variation of Warding Contingency.

    We then cast Warding Contingency, shield bash a target to proc the ability, and then either had a group member within the AoE to pick up the Minor buff, or had them start outside of the AoE and then walk in to pick up the Minor buff. In all our test cases, we are seeing Minor buffs apply normally to group members.

    Are you seeing something different? If so, could you provide details on what you are observing, like how we have here, including where you are seeing different behavior and exactly what Focus/Signature/Affix scripts you are using?

    Just confirming what I'm seeing here:

    Ulfsild already applies beneficial minor buff affix scripts to your friends in an AOE - 8m radius - so the benefit to the "growing impact" is that it creates an area on the ground where someone who wasn't close to the caster can come over and pick up the buff after the fact.

    If I pick a major buff as an affix, I cast it on myself, it applies only to myself, not my friends.

    If I pick a major buff and use growing impact... I don't cast it on myself anymore, I cast it on the floor, but it still applies only to myself, not my friends.

    I think that's the confusion - growing impact with a major buff is essentially a wasted signature script. It feels like it should turn a self buff into an AOE buff, but that would mean a single skill could replace olorime which I'm sure isn't wanted. Might want to disallow growing impact + major affix, unless there's a bonus there that I'm missing.

    The major buffs were the ones having issues. The minor buffs are working fine. I'll upload a video in a bit with a demonstration.

    In the previous patch the major buffs were working with growing impact and were effecting friends. In the last patch or with a hotfix something changed and you can't give your friends major buffs with this skill even if you use the damage shield and healing variations and cast it right next to allies.

    The major buff allies only to yourself. If you use growing impact it continues to reapply to yourself even when you walk away from the growing impact buff, but only when an ally is standing in the growing impact.

    In the below video you can see all the problems at once. The same thing happens if you use a damage shield or healing version of the skill. In this case I used the damage version for testing.

    I've heard the major buffs from banner bearer don't work on other allies either.

    TLDR it seems like you can't give allies major buffs at all with scribing skills.
