Maybe I'd use companions more in combat if they didn't have such quirks as "I'm gonna dodgeroll out of the aggro range of the boss and reset it" or "I'm gonna rush to attack that mob even to it hadn't aggroed and wasn't going to be"...PC-EU (Steam) - CP 2300 - I was a tankblade main...2

✭✭✭✭✭OtherI want new companions, improvements to the companion system, and updates to old ones. They probably wouldn't do all 3 at the same time. But I don't see why we can't get new companions and a letter furnishing for Bastian and Mirri at the same time, for example.
They could drop new companions for Chapter and QOL improvements during Q3. Isn't the entire point of no new major content in the third quarter so we can get improvements to existing systems without having to give up new stuff?Edited by spartaxoxo on September 26, 2024 8:16PM1 -

✭✭OtherI would like for them to update the older companions to the level of the new ones. For example, Bastian and Mirri need the Letter furnishings and some more reactions. I noticed, particularly with Azander that even though he says the same lines, they have different tones so they sound more varied, even if they're the same words.3 -

✭✭My priority is new companions *with* additional improvements to the companion systemEither they start adding to their unique characters that are companions like they said they would or scrap the helmet and other appearance limitations.
The way they made them sound originally was that they would get more quests at the bare minimum, perhaps more skill lines and abilities, later down the track.
Well it is almost the release of the 4th batch of companions, about to come full circle with one of the same classes used again, with nothing new for the older ones, if that isn't time enough to do something I don't know what is.2 -

✭✭✭I'd like a Werewolf Companion, preferably with a separate Werewolf skill line from their Class skill lines.
As interesting as Tanlorin's toolkit is, we really could've gotten three Dragonknight skill lines and left the Soul Magic skill line as a separate skill line in the World category. I fear if we were to get a Vampire Companion, they would invariably be a Nightblade with one of the skill lines replaced with the Vampire skill line, following after the example set by Tanlorin.

This poll is an example of the backlash against paying for more companions without improving the underlying system. If new companions were "sold" with the implication that player's investment would further develop the companion system as a whole, it would have met with widespread approval, even by those who don't want companions, as they won't invest time or money in them.

Well, here's the rub about if these are 'paid' or not.
I subscribe occasionally. I was planning on another 3 month sub to get enough crowns for a Banker. I find I no longer have a use for a banker. So I'm considering a 1 month to re-enable the existing four companions that I have previously started on now-deleted characters.
So, here are the options:
Buy West Weald outright.
Buy 1500 Crowns, just for the non-binary effect.
One month's sub.
I still need to get the sub to unlock the first four companions.
It's 25% cheaper than just buying the crowns.
The Sub will give me access to West Weald (apart from Ink)
Buying the game won't enable the new companions (at least that's what I think).
Buying one companion won't unlock the others.
The real problem is that I have to wait now for U44 to drop before I can re-sub.
But I'm not sure that the arguments about "pay for companions" is really valid.
Just Sub for one month is the cheapest option and there's a few extras if you smart about it.

When Isobel and Ember came out their story had so much more depth it made the originals seem like an after thought. Sharps and Azander were both another step deeper but the delta between them and generation 2 vs generation 2 and generation 1, wasn't quite as large.2

✭✭✭My priority is new companions *with* additional improvements to the companion systemI prefer more companions over additions to the old, even though I'd like additions, because I want to see more archetypes to choose from. Including the upcoming Tanlorin and Zerith-var, there's still no companion of an archetype I'm looking for.
I want to see someone scholarly with a personality like Verandis, Lyranth, or Meer-Ta (an argonian from one of the Blackwood settlement quests) or a mixture. At first I wanted to see this in an altmer woman, then I started getting less picky and would've taken altmer man or woman, but now finally after 8 companions, I don't even care about race anymore. I'm just so desperate that they hit this kind of vibe before they quit with new companions.
And there's other archetypes and personalities the devs still haven't hit as well, which they'd never hit if they stop making new ones.
I do really also want improvements to the old ones as well though. I started using Bastian this past year finally and I like him a lot, so I'd love to see more for him. Mirri as well. But if I have to choose, then I'd prefer more companions.IGN @ emilypumpkin
