I think your thread is nonsense.

They are dragons because that's what they are called in the game. The rules of some European writing/heraldry doesn't apply to all depictions of these creatures in all fiction. There exists a wide variety of what constitutes a dragon across cultures, times, and different fictional worlds.

Also, I think that dragon tends to be an 'overarching' name applied to creatures like this.
Wyverns, Drakes, Wyrms and many more can all, and often are, considered types of dragons.
Sort of like the 'all Square are rectangles, but not all Rectangles are squares'. All Wyverns are dragons, but not all Dragons are wyverns.

Why don’t wyverns stand up and claim authenticity in their own right!??? It’s time wtverns come out of the shadow if the dragons and embrace their own fierce legacy as wyverns!

Maybe not being seen in their own right is part of their plan. That way instead of seeing dozens of 'WyvernKnights' popping up and running around hunting down Wyverns, they see DragonKnights and then when one shows up on their radar, they can go 'actually, I am a Wyvern, you are looking for someone with 4 legs, I, as you can see, only have two' and the dragonknight would go looking for a 'true' dragon?

I guess Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim got it wrong also then, because its dragons also only have 2 legs. All hail the Wyvernborn!"Knight-of-gigantic-leather-skinned-creatures-that-may-or-may-not-resemble-a-mythic-entity-commonly-known-as-wyvern". Because they aren't dragons. The aedra could not create the mundus and all that's in it then send dragons which are aedric to enslave the people then give people a thum to battle the dragons. It's preposterous.
According to the Anuad, humans were never created, but descended from wandering Ehlnofey. Also, dragons existed first.
