Having no fondness for dragons I’d prefer we drop the dragon reference. ESP since dragons clearly desire to enslave all peoples. Why in that case have a class emulating their nonsense?

    Since Aedra are grossly absent from the game they rely on people to represent their will therefor there should be a class of knights dedicated to their cause, Aedric Knights. This is one aspect of the lore I’ve never understood, the lack of Aedric Knights.

    Dragon Knight rather makes sense given their abilities… but it would be nice if there were supplemental skill lines one could choose from which represent dedication to different Aedra or Daedra.

    It's fine the way it is. Some way to choose what to represent (like the dragons we helped/who helped us in Elsweyr, or an Aedra) would be okay.

    I love dragons, and I'm not fussed about how they appear in TES/ESO.

    I think "Dragon Knight" exists in the game because it sounded cool, especially to Skyrim players. :smile:

    Battlemage would have been a better choice, as that is really what they are.

    Templar. You’re thinking of templars.

    Dragonknights aren’t based on the Dragons of Akatosh (which yes, Dragons are Aedric), they’re based on the Tscaesci— an Akaviri race.

    Edit: Reading the lore article again, I guess the Tacaesci attribute the magic to the Dragons but that doesn’t change the fact that the origin is Tscaesci and the Dragonguard hunt Dragons. Its not a Dragon worship class.

    So that brings up another error. If the dragons are aedric then the aedra did not create the mundus. The aedra could not create the mundus and all that's in it then send dragons which are aedric to enslave the people then give people a thum to battle the dragons. It's preposterous.

    According to the Anuad, humans were never created, but descended from wandering Ehlnofey. Also, dragons existed first.

    Yes, and they should have been Battlemages, not Dragonknights. :smile:

    In ESO lore, Battlemage is more a Position/Rank/Mark-of-Authority. Pretty much any class can become, or aspire to be awarded the title of, a Battlemage.

    Who’s created first doesn’t matter. Except to the dragons. In any case the lore is off it’s rocker

    Templar is the Aedric Knight class. They literally have a skill line called Aedric Spear.

    Gods are not so black-and-white. The mythology of TES is rather complicated due to every culture having different stories and experiences along with the detailed metaphysics that’s difficult to understand but generally my understanding is that the Aedra did not birth the Mundus out of love for Humanity (which did not exist yet) but because they were tricked by Lorkhan. People may have different interpretations but mine is that they are chained to Nirn and cannot leave, not that they really want to be there.

    Edit: Either way, Akatosh was not the brains behind the formation of the Mundus. Lorkhan and Magnus were.

    The Aedra can decide whatever they want. If their decision is "Oh, on the world we were tricked to create some little two-legged creatures showed up now, let's give them something to defend themselves against the dragons and watch how it'll turn out", then that's their decision.

    Dragon Knight is an eronious name, as the class has very little to do with dragons.

    Giant back spike things, spooky ghost mode (with giant heart included), weird chain attack, earth magic for some reason... I have no idea what you would call this. Volcano Knight? Heart Palpitation Soldier? I don't know what this is.
    Struggling to find a new class to call home.Please send help.
