Hands down, the best (imho) house to own in all of Tamriel, is the Sugarbowl Suite. =D

When you port/recall to it, you can see the Wayshrine just steps away from you. I port to this house sometimes dozens of times a day instead of hoofin it over land to get to a wayshrine. Saves a ton of time, and a lot of gold.

I guess I probably should show some love to it though. Not a stitch of furnishings except the candleabra it came with.

The Free house in Vulkel guard works just as good. step outside and you are at the wayshrine.

I don't think 'close wayshrine' was supposed to be part of " Best House " since it does not describe the house itself. Just a random location.

I mentioned I like to build "towers" to go up the height ceiling, and showed off the ziggurat I made in Moon-Sugar Meadow. This is the one I made in Fogbreak Lighthouse, a more traditional tower, though it's a bit wonky and shall we say eccentric, due to the relative narrowness of the giant rock/tor it's built on versus the need to make it an actual tower instead of just an endless stair up.

I still like the result, and Fogbreak Lighthouse is arguably the best house as far as "tower"-building potential goes. It has the fifth-highest height ceiling of any current home (22 High Isle Tilework Stairways from beach to ceiling, compared to 32 for Bastion Sanguinaris in first place), has a great view (both in terms of what you're viewing, and how clear said view is), and puts you as the tallest thing around (very important to my Altmer's ego).

Actually they asked what makes a house awesome for you.

I'm super into housing but not everyone is and for those, free teleport might be the only value they get out of them. In that case location and proximity to things like wayshrines might be everything.

I haven't decorated Mara's Kiss cos is it's super tiny but do use it for ports.

    Alinor Crest Townhouse
I love the light, the smooth walls for art, and the open spaces for decorations

I don't like the Alinor style externally. Too human / real world and completely dissociated from what we see in Auridon.

But I do like some of the interiors. Haven't bought this one yet but it is tempting for that.

My top two favourite houses is the Psijic Villa and Pariah's Pinnacle.

I love the perpetually light sky in Artaeum and is perfect for my house theme as a Temple of Meridia.

For Pariah's Pinnacle I love the Orcish retreat theme.

Hall of the Lunar Champion because of the water and room to build out.

But would like to get my hands on the Grand Psijic Villa because it looks like you could do quite a bit with it.

Varlaisvea Ayleid Ruins — Really beautiful property, and I’ve always loved the Ayleid aesthetic. I don’t find it too large at all and love the central pool! I only wish that we had more Ayleid structural furnishings to build with.

Sweetwater Cascades — I love this house, the layout, the water features, and the views! Perfection.

Moonsugar Meadow — Beautiful property, only wish that we had more open properties in different climates so I didn’t have to choose between the several builds I wish I could create here!

Gornir Estate — I love the trees and ambiance, the woodland sounds, can almost be made into an open woodland to build in.

Alinor Crest Townhouse — First property I bought with Crowns, very nice layout overall, only wish there weren’t some inconsistencies, including the absence of windows from the front rooms, and the view of Alinor is especially beautiful at sunrise.

Golden Gryphon Garret and Sugar Bowl Suite are my favorite inn rooms, with lovely window light, only wish we could upgrade the furnishing allotment, but I’ve found ways to work within the limits. A lot of the smaller base game houses aren’t to my taste, with what seem to me odd layouts.

As stunning as some houses can be, I honestly probably use the humble Snugpod in Elden Root the most because of how convenient a recall station it is.

Favourite house versus favourite build...... for me often different, often interchangeable.

When housing first released I brought the three Manors to get my Countess title, on release day, one is still as it was when first decorated, not because I like it but because it's on my "to redo" list, a list that if I'm honest is pretty long! The other two serve a purpose, Overlook is our yearly Halloween Party house and I try to refresh it every year just before Halloween. Ebonheart Chateaux is my Vampire's home and also usually set as my primary but that does get changed occasionally.

I love a building plot now, when Coldharbor Surreal Estate was released that began my interest in building rather than decorating, I cleared it and built a Treehouse, at the time I loved it, now it's on the redo list!

I had great fun with Doomchar and Moonsugar Meadow is currently under construction but proving difficult to actually finish, I find I often need to walk away from builds for a while so I can be more critical of the bits I am not happy with.

I love Hunter's Glade but detest the entrance and find the light in the Glade weird.

I was brought Grand Topal as a present on it's release but never liked the style of the buildings, finally last year I hid the whole island and built out over the water.

I turned Amaya Lake Lodge into a Disney-esque Princess Castle surrounded by cherry trees, it still makes me smile whenever I go there BUT omg I wish I could move the huge mushroom near the house's entrance!!

It seems I cannot pick a favourite house right now, all of them have things that niggle me, I would probably say Moonsugar Meadow as a great building plot BUT those rocks in the middle are annoying too! 🤔

Edit:- Oh I forgot Stillwaters, love that one, especially after I managed to disguise the imo horrible main entrance room...... it's now my gambling addicted, card playing Templar's gambling den subtly disguised as a Ski Chalet!

For sheer convenience, Snugpod. Quick access to wayshrine, Undaunted, alliance capital services, respec shrines, crafting, master writ turn in and a guard free skip to an Outlaws Refuge.

    And its cheap.

Agreed. Definitely the most beneficial house for easy access to all services (you forgot to include the Stables).
The features listed are what defines a good house for me. I don't furnish ESO houses as the editor is painful.

My first home: Mathisen Manor-the entrance way is divine and we don't see many stair cases like that.
Current home: Alpine lodge-the sky box is just so amazingly calm to look at

I also really like the Daedric life around Doomchar — roaming around and flying high above. And it’s another open plot to build on, although with a definite theme and feel, but I intend to eventually get around to building a wizard’s tower there. For now, it’s my crafting and parsing base (the iron atronach looks quite at home there), and I have all my trial trophies lined up around my Dragon’s Treasure Trove. B)

Psijic Villa is a close second. It has fantastic ambiance.

Id like to throw in my towel for Hunding's Palatial Hall.
Its a wonderful exterior and has this nice courtyard/patio. Spacious interior, too.
Has been my grand master crafter's home for years.

You can get into them! I used Fargrave Colonnade Roof, Barrel as a ramp to the one on the left from the terrace overlook on that side, then another one of those as a long bridge from the first tower to the second one.

You can use any sort of platform this way, I just used the barrel roof because its length means you don't need more than two.

I use that furnishing pretty frequently in my houses, just turn it upside down and it makes a great platform of any kind.

    Here's my three most favorite houses;
    1. Seaveil Spire - The main building is under water which is awesome and I love the elven and piano music that plays inside. The architecture is very nice as well! I haven't decorated much in here, but I plan to in the near future. Have some very fond memories of me and friends just having a great time inside this house <3
    2. Grand Topal Hideaway - This was the first house I set my eyes upon in 2018 when I first started playing ESO and remember me saying to myself "I want this house" as I was snooping around the whole island in preview mode. Today I own it and have made it a tropical paradise. Get nostalgia when I'm inside this house o:)
    3. Earthtear Cavern - A cavern with Yokudan architecture that I like very much, and I find the music relaxing. This was my primary residence on the Xbox EU server back in the day and I decorated it extensively. A true shame I deleted that account in 2019... I put a lot of gold and crowns on this house :'(

IMy first home: Mathisen Manor-the entrance way is divine and we don't see many stair cases like that.

I love everything about this house but didn't rush to buy it for 3 reasons. Mathiisen Manor isn't a "manor" and I expected something with a bigger furnishing limit to eventuate. Furnishing options were nice but limited. Its layout is unorthodox.

No Auridon style manor eventuated and I don't love the Alinor style.

Many more furnishings have been added to the game over the years and look great there.

Once I realised that I should treat the entire top floor as a bedroom, the house's layout made sense to me.

You have discovered the thirty-seventh Sermon of Vivec, which is a bending of the light, long past the chronicles of the Hortator who wore inconstant faces and ruled however they would, until apocalypse.

Grand Topal on pc NA is my go to. I’m all for the beach vibes. I’m slowly getting Sword Singer’s Redoubt in order, but that one is still a slow work in progress.

I’m slowly saving up gold on pc EU to decorate one of the few free houses over there. But maybe next year on that…

Hunding's for me! My one and only love!

I was inspired by a Youtuber's build of this house last year and hid the building behind rocks and palm trees to focus solely on the beach.

Creating the reef has been extremely fun and I definitely enjoyed using a diverse range of furnishings, some in unorthodox ways!
