Would you like a toggle for holding the item on the ''held item'' mounts?

I just unlocked the jubilee horse today and it made me think of this.

Some mounts come with what I can only describe as a ''held item;'' when you're mounted, your character holds something in one of their hands instead of the hand falling at their side. Examples are the Baandari pedlar mounts (holding a blue globe), the Hollowjack mounts (holding a jack o lantern). With the new jubilee horse, you hold a plate with a slice of cake.

Despite the messy horse anatomy in ESO, horses are my most used mount type of my characters, and I really like them. I especially like the red and gold, red diamond themed tack on the jubilee horse in particular. I don't really want the slice of cake though, even though it's cute.

The untoggleable ''held items'' on certain mounts like these have stopped me from spending endeavors on mounts in the past. But I do think the held items are cool sometimes. A toggle would be awesome if doable. I don't know anything about videogame programming or whatever, so I have no idea how doable this is. Part of me thinks if it were, they would've added it from the beginning of these kinds of mounts but...

Anyone else interested in a toggle for this kind of thing?

This has put me off getting certain mounts before, so yes I'd very much like the option.

I didn't realise the jubilee mount did that. At least it's not huge and isn't glowing, so maybe it won't be too noticeable, but I'd still prefer the option to have the mount without it.

Does the Jubilee mount have a character-held item....?

I'm suddenly much less interested in getting it.

I dunno if it helps but I saw someone last night with the horse and looked at it to see if I liked it. I had no idea it had held cake until this post. So to me, it's a lot less obvious than some.

Ugh, why do they do this??? Would anyone ride around on a horse holding a plate of cake???

In general, I don’t like my characters to be holding anything while ride but the reigns. I weapon at the ready could also make sense. Certain things could make sense to carry for situations other than galloping into combat — like a basket of items you’ve been gathering, the Baandari compass, or even a bouquet of flowers or a parasol for promenading through Alinor. But like a snowglobe? No, that’s ridiculous. It’s too small to be something you’re supposed to be showing off while riding and isn’t something you’re using — it’s just silly IMO. Same with a slice of cake. :expressionless:

I saw someone on the mount yesterday and I didn't even notice the cake, so it might not be noticeable .. all I could think of was that they were farting confetti!

Wha…. Here I was thinking the anniversary mount was a stylish horse, not something gimmicky. Oh well, not like I missed out on something else with my tickets. What I don’t yet have will still be around…

I think performance would likely take a hit if literally everything had a toggle. There's so many mounts in this game, it seems simple enough to just ride a different one if you don't like an aspect of a mount. The ones that are holding things, it's the point of most of them.

Yes, the character effects can be a bridge too far, I feel. It made sense in the case of the Hollowjack mounts, since their whole thing was mimicking a headless horseman. (That being said, I do wish there was a toggle so I could ride the lovely horse year round and retain my head!). I think the worst example was that void welwa from a few crate seasons ago. The inclusion of the Selene style spider legs was baffling, both thematically and also in that I just couldn't imagine why anyone would want them bursting out of their back Doc Ock style.

I'm glad some people say it's not that noticeable, this would make me reconsider getting the mount, but I've already spent tickets on the confetti because you need 15 tickets worth and can only hold 12 at a time, and I didn't want to leave it to the last day in case something happened which stopped me logging in.

Under the circumstances I just hope it's not too distracting, but it already sounds like a mount I'll only use occasionally in towns.

(I was going to say maybe this is why they didn't have a 'display model' like they normally do for event ticket items or a way to preview it like you can with other collectibles, but that doesn't make sense - if they thought forcing you to balance cake while riding a horse would put players off I assume they wouldn't have done it. Presumably ZOS thought it would be a nice extra, so I'm back to wondering why they kept this mount hidden until we've already committed to unlocking it.)

I've avoided certain mounts due to the held items as well.

I have an account with the big glowing Elk and the rider carrying a crystal ball.

    The Elk looks Great

carrying the crystal ball, or anything IMHO, just looks silly.
