WS will either be a stealth success or a niche mmo. It won't be as big as GW2 at launch though. Why bring up GW2, you ask? NCSoft is the publisher.
Well considering what happened to GW2, that's not a good omen at all
Became the fastest selling MMO in history, even over WoW and all of it's expansions, and just expanded it's market to China.....
Yep...
Terrible failure that game is...
And the merged all the servers in one because....
Ah I got it, it's the tremendous success

PC Gamer's Chris Thursten gave the game a 94% rating, calling it "an accomplished and rewarding online RPG that does a great deal to reclaim the promise of its genre."[65] IGN's Charles Onyett rated the game a 9/10, commenting that the game is "one of the most exhaustively detailed and rewarding MMOs in existence, one that never unfairly penalizes and fosters an incredible urge to explore through a generous reward system and achingly pretty environment design".[64] GameSpot's Kevin VanOrd opened his review with "Guild Wars 2 is a paradise for explorers and thrill-seekers alike, and the best online role-playing game in years" and gave the game a 9.0/10.[61] Computer and Video Games Games Editor Andy Kelly gave a verdict of 8.9/10 closing with "An entertaining MMO that combats the dreaded grind with smart design. The lack of a monthly subscription fee only sweetens the deal."[59] GamesRadar's Hollander Cooper wrote in his review, "Everything a massively-multiplayer online RPG should be. It's original, massive in scope, and wonderfully social, removing many of the gates that held back the genre in the past. Being able to play with friends regardless of level or class is a gigantic leap forward, and one that, when mixed in with all of the other innovations in the genre, make Guild Wars 2 one of the best MMOs currently available." and giving it 4.5/5[62] and GameSpy's Leif Johnson wrote, "To Guild Wars 2's credit, its issues do little to detract from the immensely rewarding experience of the whole. It doesn't overthrow the conventions of the MMORPG, but it presents them in fresher and livelier packaging than its competitors."[63]
Time listed Guild Wars 2 as the top video game of 2012. Editor Matt Peckham noted that "Guild Wars 2 is one of those rare games that unexpectedly knocks your life off-kilter, like a meteoroid banging into a satellite", adding on that "Guild Wars 2 [has] the feel of a living world, and the sort of compulsive anywhere-you-go playability other MMOs only dream of."[66]
Looks pretty much succesfull to me.

agrees.

Dont know if you refer to me, but a) im not a TESO hater. I wouldnt have spent 300 Euros on three Imperial editions for me and my 2 brothers if i was, AND my max level character in guild wars 2 was level 35 when i discovered that the game does not cater to me cause i didnt like the autolevel adjustments. made leveling invalid and useless. Maybe, just maybe not everyone who criticizes TESO is immediately a Hater? Maybe some people are just very disappointed?

No one knows what this game will be like in 6 months, a year, or 6 years. However long it lasts it will evolve as it does so. So how about critics and haters and hell, even disappointed people like Lana here, just can it for a while, and see in which ways this game develops.

maybe because no one plays anymore? Oh btw let's go and look at the rave reviews of WAR and AoC should we
I can only talk about the AoC release, and that, to me was the biggest scam in the history of mmos, directly followed by Vanguard. Both games were released in a completely unplayable status, and what is even worse for AOC is that they sold the box, advertizing it had DX10, which wasnt even in the game.
Add to that that they only polished the tutorial area to make the game look good for the previews, they can be happy that they didnt get sued over it.
But it got rave reviews from the specialized press and bloggers, so that shows you how much you can trust MMO reviews done after one month or less.

Metacritic scores, while not the absolute last word, can be entered months or years after release. Eso is still getting ratings more than a month after release but the reviewer score and user score probably aren't going in the direction that the devs would prefer.

Eso has a metacritic reviewer score of 72. That's 10 points better than Goat Simulator!!!
Glass half full or half empty? Take your pick. The game has me in a state of flux.

And what should we do? Fill the forum of threads detailing how much of a fail is TESO like you do?
Can't see the point of it really

GW2 launched to rave reviews and praise, TESO is launching to mediocre reviews and disappointments. This is what happens when you spend 200 million to make an MMO, and most of that goes into advertising.
I've seen enough MMO launches to know where TESO is going, and it's not uphill.

My account name is Vivec, I know all about the fanbase. The fan base for Star Wars is many times greater than the fan base for TES, but that didn't save SWTOR, did it? If you want to stick around as this game goes f2p and starts pay-gating content through some weird cash shop, and still call it a "success," then that's your choice. Everyone else will move to other games where the Devs actually care about their game and it's players.
B2P downside is lack of income after sale so it will be few updates then sales tapper off unless they introduce an F2P style shop.wrlifeboil wrote: »wrlifeboil wrote: »LOL so I guess Wildstar being 'on sale' BEFORE launch means that game is dead, right?

GW2 was a huge success for a b2p.
That's not saying much now that they merged all the servers, does it?
B2P is the worst model for a lot of reasons, even F2P generates more revenue and content

As for Wildstar, I guess it will sell well however its so much an WOW clone it has the WOW clones downside, has to do lots of things better than wow to keep many playing if not why not play wow.
It got serious hype in Norway as its made by an Norwegian company, pretty obvious they don't have the muscles to make an modern MMO.Lanatireb17_ESO wrote: »https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/

Perhaps the 1 billion strong but mostly very causal Star Wars fan base was one of the reasons to go F2P. most of them was not the gamers who bought many games but would try an free one.Requiemslove wrote: »Requiemslove wrote: »...and maybe that game has been out since 2012 and this game came out...a month ago. At least that was that EA thought.
