It's irony to be offended by arrival of yet another easy to use set that is meant to lower the amount of attention paid to the combat while oakensoul belongs to the same group.

Not even remotely. They serve two completely different functions.

Oakensoul allows for players who have low ping/arthritis/slow reflexes (due to age) to still be SOMEWHAT competitive. This set nullifies the oakensoul player in the PVP setting.

Going by this logic this set also allows people with mentioned conditions to perform better because they need to pay less attention to micromanaging their setup and be SOMEWHAT competitive. It's basically the same bracket as oakensoul.

My issue with this set is that there isn’t a self-balancing element to it. A goood example being not being able to swap weapons when benefiting from Oakensoul buffs.

If the goal is to hate on ball groups, then it should scale with the amount of damage shields and heal over time effects that are active on the enemy.

Major Gallop = 1
Major Resolve = 2
Major Evasion = 3
Major Expedition = 4
Major Savagery = 5
Major Prophecy = 6
Major Brutality = 7
Major Sorcery = 8

If you use a Tri-Pot you'd be at 11.

If you use Sea-Serpent's you'd be at 10.

Daedric Trickery could raise you by a bit as well.

it's definitely more that it's named Oakfather's Retribution and that with Oakensoul you always have 15 major and minor buffs active even outside combat.

we know everyone can have multiple buffs and even more active, but the naming and the fact we always have those buffs active make it feel particularly not great towards Oakensoul.

Yup! As an Oaken and non Oaken player I was thinking more about breaking cracks into ball groups (not that I'm some uber PVPer lol)

I BET some Bomber builds will wear this specifically for that reason.

When Oakensoul dropped, PvPers complained about it.

Oakensoul was nerfed. PvPers still complained about it.

Zos introduces a PvP set that counters Oakensoul, Pvpers STILL complain.

There is no pleasing PvPers. It is a folly to try.

Maybe the best solution is to separate PvP and PvE gear completely, similar to how Guild Wars 2 does it. But someone is sure to complain about that too.

It will be stronger against non oakensoul users who have optimized builds.
And even stronger against coordinated groups.
But I think it would be fine if it also doubled these values against targets that can't bar swap (aka oakensoul users).

when i saw this set my first thought was it would be a good counter to oakensoul

but in my experience i dont usually see a lot of oaken users in pvp

most of them are NBs focused on bow ganking, or the occasional likely non-pvper HA sorc in IC

i agree that this set would also be of use against most optimized players/groups as they usually do have large numbers of major/minor buffs running

I don't see why there's any fuss over this set. New Moon Acolyte already gives 530 Weapon damage and 1487 Penetration, plus a line of crit without having to do anything. This new set is only slightly better against oakensoul players with 607 Weapon damage and 2245 Penetration. It's not like oakensoul users are so weak that this minor bonus would be enough wipe them out of PvP forever. That's just hearsay. Honestly I'm not sure if this would be that good at breaking up ball groups either unless they are stacked with every major and minor buff in the game.

It's a little better and a little worse than a few other similar sets,Stuhn's,New Moon, Titanborn.Do we know if it'll work in NoCP? If not,it'll be a niche or junk set for PVP.

As someone who runs oakensoul I don't see this set as an oakensoul counter, since people in a pvp setting are going to be sourcing those same major and minor sets from other places. I see this as an attempt to make a set that can be powerful in pvp without effecting pve. The name likely comes from the fact that both sets reference major and minor buffs, and that it feels like counter to oakensoul on the surface level is likely just incidental.

So you don't want to pvp anymore because someone would get 2.2k pen and 200 weapon damage against you on a 5 piece? Have you seen what 5 pieces normally give? This is about the same.

Edit: Late to the party, many people covered it already. Stuhn's, New Moon, Titanborn, all very similar towards Oakensoul builds. Everyone in this thread threatening to quit because of this set need to chillllllll.
