TESO Console Launch Pushed Back 6 Months

The TESO FAQ page was recently updated to show that TESO will not launch on consoles for another 6 months. They very quickly took this down though, probably because they knew how ridiculous they've handled all of this. Here is a screen of the FAQ page before it was changed.

I never thought it would be possible, but between the massive droves of people quickly leaving this game, the slew of poor reviews, the console version which will undoubtedly now be DoA, and the very poor customer support and communication that ZO has been providing, ZO has actually messed up more than Bioware did with SWTOR.....

Well, that was the other shoe-sounding thud I was waiting for.

I've been through a number of MMO launches, most recently SWTOR and TSW. All the game's blindered fans can defend all they want, but this game's many bugs, unfortunate post-launch developer decisionmaking, ineffectual customer service, and ZoS's inability to combat the bot infestation are rapidly culminating in a disastrous launch.

Don't get me wrong, I like (not love) this game and have subbed for three months, and I pray ZoS can get its head out of its aft discharge assembly, but there's absolutely nothing in their track record to date giving me heaps of confidence (aside from nice messages and vaporware).

I can't see the graphic because I'm at work and we have not got the right software. If this is the case then I would like to hear an explaination from Zenimax before I make up my mind if this is the end of the world or not. It might be something MS or Sony have stipulated that is out of Zenimax's control, could be a totally unforseen technical issue. It's not good news at all of course but I would like to know more before I can form an opinion of just how dire it is. I'm enjoying the game on PC and I really wish console players could experience it too.

Looking at how much issues there is on PC, I'm not surprised. I think it is good thing that they use the knowledge gathered from PC to make the Console launch better and bug free.

Most likely it is not as simple to drop patches on consoles as it is for PC so they need to have bit more polished game there before launch. Of course console gamers will be sad about the decision but also I'm sure they will not want rushed product.

6 months was a very long delay, I wrote 1-3 months in another post.

3 months would be enough time to finish the port, fix bugs and add more endgame.

If it delayed a half year I think ESO are in big trouble. The bland reviews combined with so much negativity from PC gamers will not help ESO sell on the consoles.

That combined with the consoles getting a bunch of new games in that time frame could very well be the DOA stamp for ESO.

How about the link to the blog, the one who took the screenshot should also had read the blog and it should be in his browser cache and easier to get than a screenshot.

And yes this post make me belive its a hoax:

I wish people would stop using Bioware's SWTOR as an example of a supposedly failed MMO. SWTOR is healthy and thriving!

On second thoughts, carry on... ;)

Not necessarily a gold seller. Maybe just someone looking to cause problems and create a crap-storm.

I have played SWTOR since before launch. The game is perfectly healthy. We just got space combat pvp and soon they are introducing housing. The population is steady at around 800,000 active players with about 33% of those paying a sub.

Only thing making me think this isn't trolling is the lack of an immediate denial from Zenimax. That's all it will take to put this to rest.

This has me wondering as well. Even if it is true honestly who cares? We are all PC people. We will be unaffected by the console version.

Why do you need a Zenimax employee to put to bed something which is apparently true?

If you look at the shopping pages for the console version it clearly states:

    Pre-order Released on 26 December 2014

That is for both the PS4 and Xbox versions on play.com: http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox-One/4-/47409747/The-Elder-Scrolls-Online/Product.html?searchstring=elder+scrolls+online&searchsource=0&searchtype=allproducts&urlrefer=search

The wording in that post is questionable. I would say that nobody's PR department would allow that wording to escape the first draft, but then I remember that ZOS doesn't seem to have a PR department.
Every time someone swears, it gets replaced with three asterisks. There's only one three-letter swear word that I know of. I read that in the place of every set of three asterisks. It makes for some amusing sentences.

Amazon and GameStop both have 6/30/14. Pre-order release dates on commercial sites are not always definitive.

Who cares if they delay it?

Make a thread to whinge about a 'bugged' release, and then complain that they are delaying the console version to make sure they get it right.

    What a cancerous thread.

So, do you console people want a decent, bug-free game that's a little late, or will any premature, buggy release do? Me, I'd rather wait and be assured a better experience - good things come to those who wait.

Whatever they do, someone will complain it's too late, it's buggy, been released too early, yada, yada. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I would think if it was fake the thread would be closed, but who knows.

They would be wise to delay it though imo. The game wasn't really ready for release on PC, if they can take more time for consoles, they should. It's a much bigger market.

PC version was delayed the same way when they announced they were also going to launch console versions. I don't see the issue TBH.

People either complain that it is delayed or that it launched before it was ready... can't make em happy.
