As the title states.

One Sorc with their pet's wings flapping in your face. Slightly annoying.
Two Sorcs, increasingly annoying, and feelings of visual impairment creep in.
Three Sorcs, it's become visually distracting and unappealing, and obstructions to interactables in the area start to occur (e.g., vendors).
Fours Sorcs, its rare granted; but ends up being a thread on the forum where solutions are requested. (Hint: this thread ;) )

It really doesn't work very well. Once you're away from crafting stations and the crafting turn in area it really doesn't help.

They ought to fix this for sure. Yes, I summon my pets only for combat (or when I'm out in the world and expect I'll run into mobs) and unsummon them before heading for town - but that's just me.

Not ruling out the possibility; but I thought that was for companions, and it was the owners option?

If there's an option to turn someone else's familiars and pets off; I'd love to be pointed to it and we can close the thread. That's not sarcasm; that's a request for knowledge.

It's in Settings somewhere - hang on, let me look....

Okay: Settings/Gameplay/General: Limit Followers in Towns. Toggle to on. Companions are auto handled by the game itself, they disappear in towns, but not always at wayshrines.

As I said above though, the Limit Followers thing doesn't really work well/do a great job. But good luck!

    Absolutely, will do.

I usually loiter around the VG wayshrine in Auridon or Belkarth in Craglorn, it gets decently busy in the evenings (PS NA) there.

I'm positive I'll have the opportunity to test this tonight and give feedback on the experience, keeping in mind what you've already shared about it not being all that great.

No. You do not get to curate other people's gaming experience. The Winged Twilight is a classic and beloved part of the entire ES series that many players of ESO happen to like. If players want them active and following them around town or anywhere else in the game, that is their right and their business. If you don't want to see them there are already settings options for that.

Except those settings options don't really mitigate the problem y'know?

The settings do do jack in my experience.

Have guards stop you and ask to "leave your pets at the gate"

    Do the same for Wardens.

Agreed. As I stated above, I dismiss mine before heading for town (and honestly, they don't really bother me in towns, but I do know they are painful for others).

    ZOS should fix this.

Most annoying and most loathed, used by a minority and resented by those forced to use it; there's no argument can be made against that thing getting a re skinning, re thinking, shrinking and landing; a foolish feature of zos' benighted and neglected treatment of sorc.

I find extremely bright glowing effects way more annoying.
However I agree they should be reskinned and reduced in size.
Preferably, there would be an option to hide other peoples pets (companions, pet, Clannbann e.g.)

I have one sorc who has pets (I begrudgingly use them because I hate them) and I want to summon mine when people have theirs out in town, but I don’t. Just to get in their way.

That got me thinking, if ZOS isn’t going to give us an option to not display other players combat pets, then we all should get an emote that gives us combat pets regardless of class to annoy them.

So many years of sorcerer feedback regarding pets, so many years of ZOS doing nothing about it. It honestly amazes me, no other company is like this. It's been almost ten years, and the minimal changes to classes, updates to effects, animations etc. is almost shocking. Well, Arcanist is around, the way it looks and plays puts other classes to shame, so here's hoping they do find the courage to change stuff soon, sorc pets included.

I try to dismiss my pets when I'm in town because I know it is inconveniencing others if I don't, but I don't always remember to do it. Auto dismiss would be great.

I generally love pet classes but in this game, I don't like the appearance of any of the pets (How ZoS? How did you manage that?)
I would dearly like to be able to reskin them. Ideally via in-game means but I'd pay real money for a smaller warden pet and something to replace the awful flappy bird.
However, since ZoS seem determined not to change any of the pets or offer new skins, auto-dismiss would be wonderful for keeping them out of my face and other players' faces when they're not needed.

Though it can be annoying at rare times, ZOS can't do this. As many quests/combat takes place in towns, and players need to be able to fully use their skills there.

Personally I wouldn't be against a new skin/look for the sorc summons. With less flappy, and more hovering, maybe somewhat smaller. Could even be a crown store item, like the different recall animations.

Really hope they don't. The old stuff works, and there is no reason to mess with any of it, besides small balance changes. Messing with things like these may anger more players than they may please. (case in point: Templar jabs)

a number of people have complained about being triggered by those wings. while its not my trigger i totes support being sensitive to people who have that trigger. i hope you get a positive outcome even if its an annoyance to you rather than a trigger. have a nice day.

also fwiw, i choose to not play sorc or warden with pets to avoid triggering anyone in a dungeon or overland or in a trial because it just aint fun to play this game knowing im triggering someone.

just hotkey 'unsummon pet' or whatever it is called. i have it on my sorc....i just hit 'L' and she makes a whimper/cry sound (which breaks my heart every single time!) and disappears.

easy to do and not sure why others do not just 'unsummon' their pets.

and my sorc is just an alt...so i do not play him too much because i kinda hate dealing with combat pets.

im used to having a lot of pets around me (my previous mmo was city of villains and my favorite class was the mastermind so i frequently had upwards 6+ pets running around me at all times)

one of the few times ive ever really had lag in that game was when there was like a zone event with like 40+ players all using master mind (minimum of 6 pets per player, thats 240+ pets on screen lol, likely higher due to other temp summon abilities too lol)

    those were good times
    plays PC/NA

    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

the flapping abominations need a complete overhaul, which is undoing their constant flapping.

It's not only a major annoyance and often immersion-breaking (for example while questing) but causing health issues for many of us (headache, nausea, motion sickness).

@ZOS_Kevin it's really not understandable how these major issues with this skill aren't adressed, while arcanist's crux was almost immediately changed due to similar issues.

Not even talking about less necessary (because purely aesthetic) changes of class skills like templar jabs or nb's grim focus.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

The entire look of the flappy annoying thing needs to be reworked. It's seriously ugly and large. I play a sorc and even I can't stand it, especially while interacting with anything, fishing, writs, banks, etc.

While I 1,000% agree that we should be vocal and continue to advocate for changes we'd like to see (and not assume ZOS didn't listen because what we raised didn't happen in a specific release or on a specific timeline), this is revisionist history with regards to orbs.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/490953/u23-combat-q-a/p1

Orbs was primarily changed because they thought it would improve performance. It was secondarily changed due to the initiative that standardized abilities. It was not changed due to people being upset because the ability was spammed, or how it looked when they were spammed. Literally the answer is in an FAQ.

I feel extremely strongly about this because, during that time, speculation was rampant on the forums that the changes to healing were because healers weren't "skilled" and tended to "spam" abilities, resulting in a lot of negative comments towards healers and how easy their job was. People said ZOS changed these abilities to make the healing role harder. It was unfair, untrue, and patently false. Eventually ZOS came out with this FAQ, clarifying that the healing changes were part of the performance initiative, but it took a long time, such that healers were subjected to criticism and insults for many weeks on the forums.

So no. It's not OK to say the orbs were changed because they were being spammed and it looked problematic. They were changed as part of a broad initiative to reduce server calculations. Some of the most skilled healers at the time of the change created a petition to try and stop the change, because of how difficult the healing role was in harder trials before the nerfs. I won't link to it since I believe it is now against the TOS to make a petition, but in the end both the Healing Springs and Orbs changes went live, specifically in the name of performance.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.
