Dungeons shouldn't be designed around random group finder and it's issues.

Wow, this is a new low. LOL I bet the hate for it is because they can't jump up to the last boss. The alternative way is to jump up at corner of the second last boss and run over the bridge. It is very easy.

I love the idea. Punish rushers.

It's not like there are difficult fights waiting in Fungal Grotto. The truth is there are players who cannot be bothered to make one little contribution. Even if that would only take like one minute.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

    Greetings,

This thread has been moved to the Dungeons, Trials & Arenas section, as it is better suited there.

    Thank you for your understanding.

The problem is that ZOS is absolutely trash at teaching new players how to play their game.
It should be absolutely basic knowledge how to use the chat, the grouping tool and what composition is needed for what, but it just isn't taught anywhere in the game.

Obviously they're gonna have problems in content that isn't brain dead easy.

Claiming ZoS don't teach players well won't change the fact.le?

And if ZOS did find ways to properly teach players, it would certainly help.

    y.

I think reading tutorials is cheating. I like to play games hardcore. I never pay any attention to the starting tutorials in games.

As a result I played for years with no knowledge of how things worked. I was happy, but probably caused no end of frustration for other players who happened to end up in a group with me.

I just learned how to scry properly yesterday. Could have saved myself hours of wandering around if I had only read the tutorials.

Great that the time of people you group with means so little to you that you can't even be bothered to learn the most basic of mechanics in the game.

If you want to play like that, do it by yourself and don't force other people to suffer because of you.

Sight... Another random normal has gone wrong in FG1. I lead the group to the entire dungeon fighting every boss... but there was that 1 person who decided to jump into the water after the first boss fights to skip all of the mini-bosses to fight with the last... by the time we got up to the crab boss.. that person who can't be bothered to follow the group has already finish fighting the last boss... the rest of the group members who actually did all the boss was denied the last boss loot (The only boss that drops weapons) because we weren't able to cause damage to the boss.

This is affecting other people's gameplay when players are able to skip the mini-bosses.

    Please be considerate people

I would never do that in a group, instead I'd just stay with the group. When I mentioned earlier in the thread that I was glad I'd found out about this handy shortcut for endeavours, I should also have mentioned that I've always done this dungeon solo, so my shortcuts affect nobody.

There is a flip side to that coin. If the other 3 group members want to skip the bosses and jump off the waterfall, isn't the 4th member who wants to do every single boss the inconsiderate one?

Can confirm, had someone keep going while the rest of us were going to the final boss, dying and ressing to try again. They ended up being dead for the entire boss fight and no one could res them because they were so far away…
When in doubt, the tank should decide what’s going on because the tank should always be ahead of the group. I had someone get real unhappy with me for not skipping side bosses before but I’m stubborn enough that I’ll sit there and kill the boss with my sad tank DPS or quit right then and there. No tank for you. (Because the enemy was already pulled and I’m slow as heck in combat so I’d never catch up anyways.)

@Soarora totally agree. Almost all of these dungeon running, skipping, questing, etc. issues can be averted by simply asking the group ahead of the run if they can do all bosses or say they are on the quest. Its exceedingly rare that I have ever seen anyone respond "NO" to one of those requests.

The only exception is if someone wants to do optional bosses in a dungeon like Black Drake. Still, it doesn't hurt to ask. Imposing a blanket rule as suggested by OP is overkill, especially when you get an experienced group, which is the majority of the time.

I got Fungal Grotto II for the first time on my new character so still needed the quest. I asked if we could please do the quest and no one replied however they did skip the shortcut and complete the entire dungeon. I find more often than not groups will comply if they are asked nicely.

100%. I always tell the group to do broodmother/clatterclaw/spider lady, if they refuse it's usually fine because I'm the tank and they'll be waiting and possibly wiping on the bosses ahead in veteran, but it would be so much better if they were just punished for it or if those bosses would be made mandatory. Also remove the chest spawns in the water and put more on land.

People have been cheesing this dungeon for such a long time by completing it quickly by skipping the rest of the bosses after fighting the first by heading in this direction (as shown in the photo) and jumping into the water to swim to the last boss. This prevents new players from exploring the dungeon.

"This prevents new players from exploring the dungeon. "

I can understand what you want to say....but I disagree.

Basically say...random grouping tool is not for the totally noob players.
If you're really noob player, then you had better gather your ally on the field by the zone chat.
And tell them playing style what you want to do. That's the first and basic group mission
    tutorial for the noob.

Let´s see how all this works in update 40, with the new finder. For now I will say, same apply to you. You have Zone chat, and guess you are in a guild too.

If you are a noob you don't know where the field is (what field?) and you don't have a guild. It's probably easier now with guild finder but when I started I only joined guilds by accident.

I'm sure everyone who doesn't use the forums knows as much as I did and thinks that anyone can use the random dungeon finder. (They can, it's for anyone)

I (and most likely a lot of players) can solo FG1. Every boss. Skipping them saves a lot of time. It is very useful when doing Endeavours. I also can solo pretty much every other base game dungeon. FG1 is just the fastest to do.

Also.... I don't swim. I just use invisibility (potion, vamp, NB, depends on the character) to skip stuff. So well... um... I guess you can add slaughter fish, but it won't stop people from skipping unnecessary bosses.

    Edit:
OP, I remember the times when I was not able to do FG1 alone, as it was too difficult. My character was not maxed out and I had bad gear. So I absolutely needed help of other players and I used group finder. This means that my achievements in the game were on the mercy of other strangers. I can 100% guarantee to you that one day, you will be able to also do this dungeon solo if other players behaviour is a problem for you.

As a player who always does this, I think it should be prevented, too.

But I also think that if every player in the group has completed the quest previously, trash mobs should no longer be hostile (with that yellow shape). So we can just walk past them. It isn't fun to kill trash in a dungeon that I have already beaten before.

Ask. Thats it. Ive never ever been in a group where i said i needed x that people didnt acclimate. Ever. The responsibility is always on folks who want to get a quick clear and never those that dont.. and yet they are forever and always the ones complaining 🙄

If developer give permission against players specific behavior in the game system.
Then, it's still fair play. Skipping is still fair play. This is basic game logic.
    And it's never changes.

Honestly say, it's a level design failure which ZOS did.
I think that developer should not add slaughter fish in the river of FG dungeon
for the good justice against ZOS game planner.

Decent game planner check the level design very carefully.
Let bug checker demo player do test play tremendous times.

And, graphic designer only confirmed good level design( have polished
environment collision and mech) as their job officially.

Those process is extremely important for the game developing, otherwise
dangerous exploiting will destroy the game just like the FG1 dungeon. :*

City of Ash2 also has bad level design mech. Why player can swim in the lava river? :D
