What I find bizarre is giving Flame Staff a new DoT while Lightning Staff buffs DoT damage now. Like…? It should have been the opposite in my opinion.

Very true! It does seem very counter productive. Who are these changes helping?

Frost Warden is a status effect build, but we use ice staves, so it's not helping us lol

Yeah, I had a brief aha! Moment and then remembered we have to use ice staves.

Apparently, Delia did some testing on pts. Even with the vast majority of an Arcanist's damage coming from its channeled ability, lightning staves STILL fell behind dual wield. There was a smaller difference on live servers between the two weapons.

I ask again- who are these changes helping??

Because on pts lightning staff doesn't buff Flail any more

At best lightning staff is an Arcanist-only weapon now, maybe, templar. But DW will still be better.

Obviously a nerf to any classes' HA build.

Indirectly, It is a nerf to PVE pet sorc because bar space and Necro because their big skills are aoe Direct Damage.

Ironically, I think the real reason people liked HA builds is not having to micromanage buffs every 20s.

Is anyone from ZoS able to clarify ?

There is a lot of confusion and it would be really helpful :)

U39 will make the worst PvP classes (MagSorc, MagNecro) even worse:
    ZOS wrote:
Lightning Staff-Ancient Knowledge: This passive now increases your damage done with over time and channeled attacks by 6/12%, rather than increasing your damage done with Area of Effect attacks by 5/10%.
Lightning Staff-Tri Focus: This passive now only triggers on fully charged Heavy Attacks, rather than any tick of a Heavy Attack.

ZOS hits another nail in the LightArmor - Lightning Damage coffin.
Sorcs and Necros NEED HELP. But what do we get in U39? MORE NERFS. :s

Indeed. I thought we were done with huge combat changes for a little while. I'm so disappointed.

tl;dw: It severely affects the ability to heal via crit surge and all but deletes the cleave potential.

They should, but given that we are entering week #4 of the PTS and if past behaviour is anything to go by in all likelihood they won't.

We will have to close our eyes and imagine... they have provided the 'fantasy' element, we will just have to conjure the 'power' part in our minds.

Thank you for sharing this video. Painful to watch but at least proves what many of you have been saying about tri-focus.

I saw that... it was what I feared. I can only hope with others here that they restore the cleave.
