New houses are huge. Much more than necessary

Okay, so I love the new houses no question here. But aren't they like...too big ? At least for the boat. Seriously, only 700 furniture to make the housing ? You can't do a housing with as much detail as many in the community would love too.

Can we ask you to increase for the boat the number of furniture we can put in place, like 1000 ? or at least, please (because i heard it's because of console that we are stuck at 700 furniture) to work on a way to fix the problem ? Because with my guild, we're thinking right now "this ship is perfect, except for its size" and just because of its size, we don't want to take it because we will not be able to decorate it the way we want.
So please, try to find something to increase the number of furniture, pretty please. Or stop doing houses so big, because we just can't decorate them.

The Ship house doesn't need landscaping unlike most other houses, 700 is plenty of space for it.

You have to think outside the ship.

Most notable houses have this problem. For some it's easier to block off some areas to make the remaining look more cohesive with the 700 slots, but it's a pity because the designs of those houses are too awesome to not decorate and enjoy fully. Also, in some notables blocking off areas is not that easy or the blocking takes many slots itself, so that's not always a good solution. It would be great if they gave outdoors and indoor areas their own separate slot limit, so we could have 1400 slots overall. I wouldn't mind loading screens in between or any delay in loading if we could have double the space for decorating.

I would mind the loading screen engough to put all my useful stuff such as banker, and crafting station outside so to not waste time on a second loading screen

I think this isn't true, or at least it is not the main reason. Every placed asset would have to be stored somewhere (type, world position etc), which is probably the server database. When more assets have to be loaded on visiting the home, the database gets also more busy and the stored data has to be also transfered to the clients. So a higher furniture cap probably means more database storage space needed, higher DB load and higher client/server traffic, which all boils down to increased cost.
If they really can't increase the cap for the above mentioned reasons, they should have designed the houses with the cap in mind. That people are forced to come up with solutions like blocking off areas and discuss which house is best for that tactic is ridiculous.

Emphasis added. It’s not the cap that’s the problem, but the size of the house. I would like the 700 cap in the large (not huge) houses.

This is the best solution I have heard.

I'd love 600 slots both inside and outside the Antiquarian home. There's SO MUCH space. It's a shame I can't decorate it all. It should have 1200 in total.

The housing community has been saying this since forever, and ZOS has yet to even acknowledge it. They just keep pumping out increasingly massive houses every single time.

Gosh, stop that fairytales about database and storage. Everything progressed since game realise. Everything EXCEPT consoles

Regardless how much it "progressed" (would have been nice to give an example instead of nebulous terms), more of it will still cost more (because of logic).
The game had no housing on release, so your alleged decreased storage costs might have been nullified by that. Also progression doesn't necessarily lead to lower costs; a HDD to SSD upgrade would be a good example.
I merely pointed out that it could not be as simple as people think it is and that i don't think housing was done well enough and how they could have been done it differently to avoid the issues.
I don't know what you mean with "Everything EXCEPT consoles". Since ESO release, Xbox X/S and PS5 were released (which got their own "console enhanced" version of the game in mid 2021).
So, i'm not sure why i should be the one who's telling "fairytales" here.

There are no more slots, because with higher number there is risk that you game will be crashing after loging into house, which will block your character. They have to keep safe limits, because guess who will be blamed when something like this will happen and who will be bothered with many requests to save someones character from overloaded house?

And why they sell too big houses? Well, reason there are probably less noble - it's matter of fact, that no one will buy small house for 13k crowns and they want sell them for 13k not 6k.

If you scroll the screen down you will see PS4 and Xbox One labels.
I understand it's hard to get, but I'm sure at the end you will figure how those platforms limitations affects current state of the game

Agreed, it really sucks, but the last gen consoles are hindering the game's progression.

You never wrote in this thread about limitations of last gen consoles affecting the current state of the game (which, btw, would have nothing to do with what i wrote, ie server side things and traffic to clients).
You wrote "Everything progressed since game realise. Everything EXCEPT consoles", which means the development of console devices as a whole.
It isn't up to me to learn how to be psychic to read incomplete thoughts expressed by others.
That existing console devices are very limited in terms of hardware upgrades is a commonplace truth, thanks for the info though.
As none of my actual points were addressed besides "stop that fairytales", i guess this enlightening argument is over, at least from my side.
    Have a nice day. :)

Matt Firor did in fact say on a stream that the early console performance limitations were the reason for them not increasing item slots.

Thanks for the info, though it doesn't make much sense to me as the only reason for the cap, which is why i wrote there could be also other reasons. There could have been simply different caps for last gen console accounts.
If the problems on console would be rendering related (can't really imagine anything else, doesn't mean there can't be another reason ofc), one could still cram 700 assets together in one room, including many lights sources, and the performance would be potentially ruined when looking at it.

Waiting for the time they release a house as large as the tutorial zones and we still have 700 furnishing slots to decorate something the size of Bal Foyen.
