- standard instance just as the game is now
- classic instance just as the game originaly was without the flashy stuff, more grounded, more congruent
- immersive instance including classic instance + disabling speed upgrades on foot or mounted for more natural animations
- ...
I am sucker for Flashy stuff I love it!
I am just glad it's not Immersion Breaking, as "Immersion in my subjective, but my definition is: Immersed in the world while objects adheres to the lore.
Here is a "Mount" from another MMO that is:
A Snowman Pushing a Christmas Decoration and you, the char, is holding it back...
And here is some crazy stuffround 2 you get to ride in another mmo
Are the ESO mounts Flashy? Ofc
Do they follow some sort of art direction and lore: sure
At the end of the day I rather get blinded and get epilepsy by some mount animation, then have to endure playing a serious quests with one of those mounts as shown here running around me.
Toggle off the flashy stuff? Maybe, but then again, there is some developer work there and they could be reluctant to do work only for people to hide it. They may also like how this stuff appears in the game, even if some players do not.
The whole set/style system is based on making characters look like something they're not, and it's also very popular.I'm more concerned with ways in which players are allowed to misrepresent what gear they are wearing, like someone in full heavy armour appearing to wear a servants' outfit or people without helmets (and now shoulders) that actually are wearing them, or when someone appears to be carrying a battle axe, but it's actually a greatsword There's no accounting for taste I guess, so for me it's not about the visuals per se, but IMHO when it's misleading we should be able to toggle it off client side. And before anyone says there's nothing odd about these effects because it is a kind of illusion magic, if it is, then we can have anti-illusion magic too, so there.

You need more 'Awesome's.Luke_Flamesword wrote: »This is kind of logic like: "if your neighbour is disco fan who makes loud, flashy parties in his home in middle of night, you can just sell home and go live in the desert".You could also craft in your home or go to a zone with nobody
I'm not fan of flashy or oversaturated cosmetics, but I can live with that. Even with limited options some people will dress their characters like power rangers, etc. so this is just effect of freedom of choices. That's fine. I can live with many of radiant apex, because their flashines fits into acceptable boundaries. But this abomination from first post is just too much. I was blinded with this animation for couple seconds - can't see and do nothing only because someone summons mount? And I'm the one who should banish yourself from most convienant place to make writs, because ZOS wants to sell some crown crates?
It was always narration "It's only cosmetics, if you don't like it, don't buy it" and now it will be: "if you don't like being visually *** and blinded, just stay in your home and don't visit places with other players"?I'm afraid that this won't gonna happen. From psychological point of view, most (not all, but many) radiant apex owners wants and use these mount not because they ONLY like the visuals, but mostly they want to feel more special, more premium, more distinguishued from other players. Whole reason of "boom effect" is to blow up in face of other "peasants" who can't afford this type of mounts. You can see this in real life, where most of rich people wants other people to see how rich they are. This just how most humans minds works and this thing is exploited to sell radiants, especially that this is very costly, premium product for niche players with a lot of cash. So ZOS can't implement this option, because many of these player will feel cheated, because they pay a lot of money not to see for this mount only by yourself - they need and want other to watch at them.Maybe there could be a setting to turn down/off effects like these
And this is exactly like in real life - common people have to pay cost of rich people "having fun", like with for example you should take care of your carbon limits and travel less, because rich people with their jets push these limits too much. And now even in game I should "hide in home", because someone else wants to boom in my face with his overpriced mount

I think most folks just want a simple toggle that would allow you to hide other players mounts VFX. Just hiding other VFX in general would be appreciated as some of the flashier animations from sets and ultimates can cause some real issues for people with sensitive vision.
Just let us toggle these things off and folks would be fine. You can have your cake, and I can have my pie and we'll all be fine, just stop dropping your cake all over my plate.
Totally agree, now I say WOW can get away with crazier stuff then ESO because art styles and game environment. So just because other games have turned into circuses -- ESO has to as well? Elder Scrolls games have a certain aesthetic and vibe to them, which at this point you rarely get to experience in ESO, the reasons are many, and mounts like this is definitely one of them. And you see them quite often after the introduction of the endeavor system.Umm I think you have to see what other mmos have to offer before you say "immersion breaking"
Last time I checked the devs cared immensely about the lore, the legacy & look of ES etc. I can't really see it sometimes, hope I'm not being unfair with this criticism. @ZOS_GinaBruno This was emphasized in the latest stream.
I like some of the flashy radiants, for the most part they are not too visually distracting, but I agree that the new mount with the Vateshran effects is a step too far, and the effect is too strong and intrusive. It worries me because the Arcanist skills are in the same vein, and I wonder if this is a new direction the Art team is going. Besides the visual clutter, which in any case is an individual preference, it also feels a bit out of place in the game.
This, kind of getting bored of action movies as they became to predictable 20 years ago.I like some of the flashy radiants, for the most part they are not too visually distracting, but I agree that the new mount with the Vateshran effects is a step too far, and the effect is too strong and intrusive. This is kind of where I am at. Are they going to lean to heavy on flashy stuff and begin slacking on content? Like how a movie with no plot goes overboard on the visual effects to try and make up the difference.
I always imagined Elder Scrolls being a more grounded fantasy world, as opposed to worlds like Final Fantasy and Aion /etc. that were more flashy and high fantasy.
A lot of the upper tier crown cosmetics are visual clutter and I find them personally unappealing. I even have a few apex mounts but the Roleplayer in me stopped using them because it just seemed like nonsense to be riding them.
Edit: Typo
The Wailing Shackler Wolf is a great radiant apex mount. It's not super flashy and has just the right amount of pizzazz. Holding A (on Xbox) makes runes float around you! Squeeeeeeeee!
