Of course I'm gonna play it, but I'll reserve judgement on it until I do.
I'm completely out of character ideas for this game though, and thematically the class as it's described doesn't fit any of my existing ones. On that end, I'm at a loss. I have a few months to think about it though.
I already have so much characters fully leveled that it's getting ridiculous. I have a bunch of those characters that I don't mind to change the class. It would be refreshing to be learning and upgrading skills but utterly boring to start a new character from scratch, ruining 1 year of fun just to grind, only to get a few new skills. It no longer makes sense for me. I already wasted too much time leveling up too much characters, now I just want to quit the grinding job and have fun with the game.
So... I'll just wait for the changing class tokens or skip it.
I probably would have been more interested if it wasn't so specifically linked to Apocrypha/HM. It's the same problem that kept me from trying Warden for 5+ years. Too niche, too tied to one theme.
Also, I have zero patience for grinding out skill points, horse riding, etc. for the dozenth time.
I mean, right now I have no plans to purchase the Chapter. With ZOS, it is necessary to see it on PTS to dispel any misleading or under emphasized changes that are revealed by PTS. I don't feel they provide enough information to purchase before kicking the tires. I don't trust them.
However, there is a good chance that I will pick it up during one of the end-of-the-year fire sales when it is half price. They will probably do the "Pathfinder" promotion again, and if it is on deep enough discount, I will probably pick it up.
That said, there isn't much reason to use the Arcanist. I have a main. Part of the attraction of the game for me is leveling up the character, and I have done this many times. With AWA, it isn't as much fun, so if I do this Arcanist thing, chances are the character will be discarded after I try it out.
Looking forward to it as I like at least running through new things for a bit. Just leveled a new Sorc up during new life and will likely wait for a double XP event to really get this class up fully as well but will mess around a little when it is released either way. Personally I wouldn't be opposed to a class change token (doubt it will ever come) so if after I played and leveled the class and if I were to fall in love with it swap my main.
Zos giving us a free slot makes this much easier as now I don't even have to buy a slot or decide to delete one of my overlapping writ farmers I use for the anniversary event. I had saved two unpurchased slots just in case they ever dropped a new class.
For those who don't like questing, outside of my main character I don't really quest on any of the others (16 to date). Dolmen grind and crating skills to get to level 10, then a daily dungeon (levels undaunted) and daily battleground with bonus xp and for gaining some extra skill points. Outside of that I normally to public dungeons and delves which give fighters guild rep, access to lore books(mages guild) and sky shards and then the extra skill point for each group boss in the public dungeon. This time around I did the ones I had mythic leads to farm, same for world bosses.
The only real grind needed outside of those activities is horse training(gahhhhh) and then psijic order if you want to use any skills from the line and excavation if you want the antiquities passive for finding treasure chests easier. (I use my main to scry to save skill points)
Most likely yes unless it's revealed that it's somehow terrible in PvP (and no way that's possible with that portal). And I'll probably still play it anyway.
It's gonna be BG queues of mostly arcanists for quite a while.
It depends. I currently have 18 characters. If they offer new character slots to go with the new class, then I will likely take a close look at the Anarchist. If they don't offer new character slots, then I will need to look at all my characters and see if any of them are too similar to other characters and decide if I'm willing to redo one.
i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them
I like new classes, and I think they have released them just about far enough apart (wouldn't want one every year). I plan to do what I did with a Warden when morrowind came out and play the chapter fresh. To me, its really the only way to enjoy overland. I go in with any of my established toons and its just too easy. Not that much different than watching a foreign film with subtitles...
I will likely power level a second one so I have a stam and magic of each.
I'll create at least one, but I'm really hoping there's a new weapon skill line that goes along with it, to be honest - one open to all classes, obviously. I want my MagSorc to be able to break out a big ol' crackling lightning tome instead of the same ol' staff or daggers.
Maybe if I could make one of my existing characters become an arcanist. I absolutely don't feel like doing the mount training and skyshard gathering nightmare grind ever again in my life, and no, I don't want to pay for the "convenience" of not having to do it ever again either. You already have several thousands of my Euros.
I’d honestly love to but I don’t have the time, it would take me way too long. I got my main, I even got an alt that I focus on the most when I don’t play my main. That’s it for me for now.
They really should consider removing the cooldown on mount training as a QoL enhancement this year as it's one of the most glaringly obnoxious systems that has not aged well. I would gladly pay up as much gold as I could in one sitting if it weren't for that damned cooldown. With how many classes there are now, the paid mount upgrades just make the game look embarrassingly over-monetized, and I imagine a lot of new players get turned off by it.
