So, no matter how often you run Fungal Grotto, no matter whether you run it Normal or Veteran, once you've got your Opal page from a FG box, there will be no more Opal pages from FG boxes (normal or veteran, purple or golden) that day. Obviously, UNTIL you get it, a Veteran run should have a better (but non-guaranteed) chance of the opal page than a Normal run.

Want 20 opal pages in one day? Go get them from 20 different dungeons.

Umm then less experienced players was kinda be boned. They would have to do dlc dungeons if they wanted more than a few drops which is kinda bogus.

There are literally 24 possible base-game dungeons to choose from. Okay, 16 of those are really 8 pairs (Spindle, Darkshade, Banished, Fungal, Wayrest, Elden, City of Ash, Crypt of Hearts), plus eight single dungeons (Crucible, Volenfell, Tempest, Blackheart, Arx, Selene, Direfrost, Vaults), Any person can do any of those - assuming they're level 50 and up. If you've got just ONE character of that level you could still do enough dungeons to get 16 opal pages per day, which is not exactly a small number, even if you had no DLCs, and were not a ESO+ subscriber. If you have 2 characters of that level, you get up to 32 opal pages per day, from the base game alone.

(And with Imperial City being free, add 2 more dungeons to the list for 18 opal pages per day per character.)

I fail to see a problem.

IDK, I think I might have done FG1 four times tops during the event? two this morning because I needed the fastest possible dungeon to solo for the tickets before I had to set off for work and another two while I was away for work (laptop in hotel WiFi, not ideal to run dungeons).

It would have been an egregious waste of an opportunity to run it more than strictly necessary given that you got an extra curated drop from the final boss in every dungeon.

I have collected... so... much... gear...

I'm curious to know why this bothers you or how this affects you? You don't have to run fungal grotto if you don't want too. And the end of the day, we aren't running these dungeons over and over again because of story or the dungeon is fun. We are doing it to get opal pages, other motif pages and gear sets we have been grinding for you. Why is this a problem that people wanna run the easiest and fastest dungeon on loop?

You aren't required to do FG1.
Besides that, during the event everyone rushes in any dungeon. Base game ones or not.

Um… I‘m happy with running one (1) dungeon to get my one (1) opal page/day. Even if I ran more than one/day during the Undaunted event… Is it not totally inconsequential which dungeon I visit, especially if I have played most of them, anyway? Especially as I solo dungeons if possible.

Id be fine with adding to vet, or dont, it doesnt really matter to me, but, I havent run FG1 normal or vet a single time during the event. Thats a choice. If people are okay with that level of mindless grind for shinies that will flood guild banks, then, more power to them.

They should make every dungeon drop armor and weapon styles that are exclusive to each dungeon. If you want FG1 styles then do FG1. If you want CoH1 styles then do CoH1. Etc. That would get people to do other dungeons and not have limited drops each day.

Why not have to kill all bosses to complete the dungeon. Not sure why that isn't always required for pledges and randoms too. It would go a long way to solving the rushing issue.

Nope. On console, which is four out of six ESO megaservers, some of us are dealing with the UI error by soloing nFG1 for event tickets and boxes. And also there is an ongoing group finder no replacements bug, where a group that loses a player during a dungeon never gets a replacement player.

When we use the dungeon group finder, the person who ends up as Crown gets the UI error. Some lucky folks who get the UI error are able to clear it by mashing a button on their controller up to 50 times. Other unlucky folks have their game lock up and end up restarting their game, and getting dropped from their group. Which also causes their group to run with three players, because of the group finder no replacements bug.

When ZOS fixes the UI error bug AND the group finder no replacements bug, maybe then we can talk about restrictions on how folks can get Undaunted event tickets and event boxes.

As much as I like the idea of having to actually complete the dungeon to get the rewards, it can be a real P.I.T.A. when you queue for a pledge dungeon and get put into the dungeon already in progress at the final boss, and then have to run it all over again because you didn't get credit for the first few bosses... This is really only a problem in base game dungeons that require specific boss kills when DLC dungeons do not have the same requirements. Game needs more consistency.

This particular instance of the event already had a sufficiently good incentive to run other dungeons. the double curated drop at the end.
You had the choice of using the event to spam FG1 for the opal things that will clog guild traders for the next couple months, or to free yourself forever from running specific dungeons. Lair of Maarselok, never again.

I liked how last year the undaunted person said, “Who falls to the goblins in Fungal Grotto?!” when trying to recruit you to do dungeons for the undaunted event.

I like this year how I was given a box with an item I had not collected yet. I farmed and completed 3 dungeons I have always wanted to do. It was a nice feeling to know I can make sets now for just 25 transmute crystals.

It seems to me that there are a few points to be made...

First is who cares what dungeon someone else does to gain whatever rewards they get, if you want to run FG1 400 times a day more power to you...

Second, why are you only worried about the style pages, this event granted us not 1 but 2 items for our sticker books when we completed a dungeon where we still needed items, personally I think I ran Volenfell as many times as I ran FG1.

Third, XP... using XP scrolls to boost it, I was able to get Ember to level 20 and Isobel to 18 (almost 19) as well as helping their skill lines...

My last point, I find the opal styles ugly in most cases, so feel free to buy the ones I put into a guild trader (Conquest of Tamriel)

I disagree with this on principle that the boxes are not the issue but the experience itself which drives this behavior.

I agree with you partially this should be addressed, but let them start by understanding the problem is with the experience in that dungeon and make necessary changes so that it is no longer distinguishably easier to complete from other runs. Alas, recently I believe they lowered the boss Hp so, thereby exasperating the problem which is easy to see.

My point is that there are always going to be some dungeons that are shorter and easier than others. If this wasn't the Fungal Grotto event, it would be the Spindleclutch 1 event for the same reason - despite the fact that there are no skippable bosses there (well it's possible to sneak past Big Rabbu, but you pretty much have to sneak to avoid aggroing him).

And the point is to encourage *variety* by making people go to multiple different places, not one place multiple times. By all means get your first opal page of the day, guaranteed from the first run because the box is gold rather than purple, from the easiest dungeon - FG1 right now - but to get MORE opal pages you should have to go to MULTIPLE dungeons, not the same one multiple times.

I would ALSO agree with enforcing the killing of all bosses, and the skipping of none (other than "secret" bosses, which are a thing that only started in Unhallowed Grave), to even get the Undaunted box at all from any dungeon in this event. To be frank, FG1 would still be the shortest and easiest dungeon, although Spindleclutch 1 would give it a run for its money. Who knows, we might even see people in the Wayrest Sewers going after the Rat Whisperer (WS1) or Skull Reaper (WS2), or not skipping Elden Hollow 1's Ancient Spriggan and Leafseether.

I fully support a cap on running the same dungeon repeatedly. One purple box per day per dungeon. The FG1 sprint is about the least enjoyable experience in ESO, and I’ve done arenas/trials post update 35.

Uh, they already fixed this problem for this year: curated gear from coffers.

In previous years, yes, this event was the Fungal Spam event.

But this year, I and people I know ran a wide variety of dungeons because of that curated gear drop.

The problem is random queue fills you into specifically queue'd dungeons so during the event you'll likely get FG1 90% of the time, pretty annoying if you're leveling alts or just don't want to see the same lame dungeon 24/7 where you sprint through and kill a whopping 2 bosses. In a perfect world of considerates if you wanna farm it then go full premade and teleport to the dungeon stop ruining randoms but hey community never cares what damage it does as long as there's profit in it. If I were new and started in this event I'd be like wtf dude same dungeon 9000 times?

I would just avoid random during this event after you got your tickets, once the motifs are massively inflated like now you'll be buying them at pennies on the dollar anyway so there's no point in farming them outside of the first couple days where you can sell them for a mill a pop easy. Its pretty pointless to have them now unless you wanna wait 6+ months or next event to sell.

For those of us that have been playing a while the obvious choice is to stop random queueing but new players probably don't know that and others who are random queueing for xp are doomed to see FG in their nightmares.

I did a random each day of the event and I can't recall getting FG1. Interestingly, the majority of the dungeons I got were DLCs. After doing the random I'd select specific dungeons I wanted to run, be that for gear or just the experience of going there. I only did DLCs in that manner. This event definitely didn't come anywhere near being a "FG event" for me; some guildmates were indeed hitting that dungeon countless times, but that had no impact on my fun, so why should I want to ruin their grind?

I opted this time to run random normals x2 a day, for most of the daily runs*. I got FG1 as one of my "randoms" 4 days in a row and 7 times total. Considering all the dlc dungeons and base game ones, the fact I got FG1 7 times on random tells me that either the random part is kinda broken or the vast number of people running FG1 is insane.

* There were days that I only ran 1 time random due to other obligations, so it's not a perfect sample.

I gave up on pugging dungeons in ESO years ago, so I can't say that I find this to be a problem. If I can't put together a 4-man group to run content, then I don't run content. Simple as that.
