about the Q&A that was promised...

how long do we have to wait for the Q&A about the U35 combat changes and intentions? If i recall correctly there was a comment from kevin in the PTS Category. This announcement was made before U35 went to live, and people were certain that this Q&A will be made public after.

To be honest here, i am (as many others) in maintenance mode with ESO, but frequently visiting the forums, just for this Q&A. Its something i put high hopes into (rightfully so i hope...). Maybe it will explain the adjustments made, or lay out a rough roadmap for us to orientate.
It leaves somewhat of a bad taste in my mouth, when the only new sticky thread i see is about the faishon game in ESO and a rather dire statusreport on the hardware update for EU. in my language there is a saying that translates roughly to "making a happy face during a foul play".

The forums are burning, the threads are more negative than positive, people are reporting guilds disbanding and all we get is a show how well you can dress your character?
Isnt there somewhat of an urgency to get things right with your playerbase?
I understand that a Q&A has to be of quality, so you dont want to rush it, but it should also not take 3 weeks to do it, because you have all the questions from the community in this forums, and you should have an answer to all of them, because you made the changes and decisions in the first place.

To conclude; i wish this Q&A would drop sooner rather than later, even if its only to show, that ZOS at least gets their priorities right. Maybe we can get a comment or an ETA @ZOS_Kevin ?

Agreed to your request and statement. Even though I don’t share your hopes in receiving satisfactory answers.

Reason is, with the announcement of U35 they stated a clear vision. Posting that vision would have already alleviated a lot of questions. A lot of people asked for that vision. Me included.

    Reply from ZOS: <crickets>

If I apply changes to the work environment of my team by quoting a vision, I make sure that this vision is shared prior to these changes. Period. Will everyone be happy? Nope, of course not. But clear, honest and transparent communication helps an awful long way. And if nothing else, you are being considered to walk the talk and even show up when challenged.

This also lays a foundation for a gaming studio and its community in my view. A decent amount of complaints, criticism and flak ZOS rightfully received could have been mitigated.

That's a get out of jail card...

A Q&A should have been posted well in advance because, you know, the community has questions and seeks answers.

Theres nothing to publish at this point. We haven't even had a chance to ask questions!

Which brings me to my point. The last Q&A @ZOS_GinaBruno did she just made up a bunch of questions to ask herself. I hope they're actually going to let us ask some questions this time. Because I'd like to know some things and they arent just about the combat changes.

I think Gina was just relaying content, so I wouldn't attribute that choice to her :), but yes it would be nice if we could submit questions ahead of time. My questions definitely weren't addressed in the Q&A for U33!

Even if the Q&A happens we all know the questions will be heavily curated and probably won't address the biggest and most controversial issues that the community has with U35.

I like to hope for the best but expect the worst.

So I hope that ZOS realizes from our feedback that we want to submit questions for the Q&A and not just see their interpretation of questions they think they saw most frequently.

I don't have high expectations that we will get this, but it's worth pointing out as a suggestion. :)

MMO forums are a negative place. I’ve never seen one that was enthusiastic and complimentary. It’s the same idea as surveys after a customer service experience. You’re more likely to “give them a piece of your mind” if you had a bad experience compared to a good one.

Not true, I have been on many really great MMO forums. I find that the forums are a reflection of the company that runs the game, the games with great forums that are mostly positive, are for games in which the publishers engage in meaningful discussion with their players, listen to feedback and respond as to why or why not certain things can or cannot happen and they keep the players abreast of what is going on. On the flipside, the forums for games where the publishers look down on their players and consider them nothing more than an easy pocket to pick and the publisher always knows best... those games seem to have considerably less positive forums.

It’s been a while since I’ve visited, but it used to be that the ESO subreddit was typically quite positive in comparison to the tone here.

I see your point, and i was dissapointed myself about the AWA Q&A, but then again, i believe gina and kevin are capable of learning from their mistakes. There have been many questions brought up from the community in the PTS Category, the source of questions is there.
Then again, it was the same for AWA...

And i have to say; for me even a bad Q&A about the current situation would be better than a fashion sticky thread, but thats just me. Maybe fashion really IS the focus we should set in this Update...

Just stretching, but why do I feel that Q&A will be filled with crown store stuffs such as 'when is xx item releasing?' 'When is this thing working for the purchaser'

Honestly, we know their rationale behind the update, do we need a Q&A for that?

If this update is part of something bigger, then yes, please give us insights in where you're going. If this really was an attempt to just make the game more accessible then it's pretty clear what their ideas were and how they thought this would impact the game. Wether or not it was succesful doesn't really matter, they released the update so they believe their approach is the right one.

If this is not part of something bigger they shouldn't do a Q&A, Since there is so much negativity they could just do a post-patch reflection,

There's not a right option here, some people are expecting an apology or confirmation that the changes were bad and should be reverted. I'm not one of them but I do see that a lot went wrong in preparing everyone for changes to come, that alone could be the biggest takeaway for them to reflect upon, they should communicate on this stuff earlier, get a glimpse on the reactions and start talking or even convincing people that this is the right way, all the while receiving feedback, all before you even start working on this stuff.

It's not different than change in any other context, it's called change management and there's ways to ease into it.

They open up discussion and feedback threads left and right but never participate in one of them.
It's more like: "Hey we put a suggestion box right here and we want you to use it a lot. You can be sure we get all the posts out once a week and throw them in the trash unread. So thanks a lot for all the feedback, you guys are amazing, we love u <3"

this is posted by @Mr_Stach in his thread about the same Q&A but in the PTS category. I tried my best to find the original post, but i couldnt.

for me it reads like this update is part of something bigger, and they stand firmly behind what they envision (which is a really good thing, dont get me wrong). Neither do i want an apology, but i want to understand where this vision is going to lead us, and maybe which iterations of their vision failed (accessability, easier rotations and so on).

i believe that clarifications would bring the storm of the playerbase at ease, and we could start again to discuss a common goal for this game (Playerbase and devs).

It was announced on the current ESO Live that on September 16 there will be another ESO Live about update 36 preview. It looks like they're trying to quietly bury U35. U36 should enter the PTS on the first or second Monday of October.

Based on previous years, the Combat Preview was already due Sept. 16 and the PTS on the 19th.

It is typically only 10 weeks from Q3 to Q4. In that respect, the timing itself is not an attempt to bury U35. But I sure hope they take the opportunity to bury the worst of the content and make some much-needed corrections.

They always do, unless it is really bad and goes viral, then they make one long post, imply they will do X, Y & Z to address it, then sweep it under the rug and never follow through. Been watching it happen for years here.

You're right. I forgot that these DLCs ship on the very first days of November. I had it confused with Bethesda's mid-November releases. That makes it all the more damning that the promised Q&A still hasn't happened. ZOS knew in advance when would they release U36 and the preceding promo materials.

Honestly, we know their rationale behind the update, do we need a Q&A for that?

The Q&A is needed specifically because ZoS’ stated rationale for the changes was diametrically opposed to what the changes actually did. As Ricky Riccardo use to say ZoS “You got some ‘splaining to do!”

What you're looking for is Mea Culpa, while I don't disagree with your statement. A Q&A won't fix anything and will dissapoint if that is what you're looking for. The only thing I want is to see what's next, short and long term.
