Tales of Tribute: Being asked to Play by NPC when you don't have High Isle

Can we please have the NPC that tries to recruit you to play Tales of Tribute, and even still hands you the quest, only appear to players that have High Isle? Its rather annoying to hear them crying out for you to play when you can't. they also hand you a quest that you can't complete because you can't travel to the place where you need to be to do it.

thanks.

While that would be a very nice gesture, it's basically like asking to have ads removed from Youtube because you find them annoying.

Putting her in the middle of the crafting area in Vivec city as I do all my writs is annoying.

ZOS advertises to me each time i login. if that is not enough then having an NPC shout it at me won't do it either. Either offer more content in chapters or lower the price.

Don't get me wrong. I agree with you completely. I just think that ZOS has their motivation to have that NPC bark at you constantly, even if it might not be a positive effect for players.

"Do you know how long I've been looking for you?" is a known meme, even in the ZOS offices I'm sure. They couldn't possibly be so tone deaf as to do basically the same thing again without some sort of reasoning, would they?

I don't get ads in YouTube since I subscribe to them. I do get the annoying card lady now every time I go to the riding trainer in Alinor. I don't want to play the card game!

She is almost (not quite, but almost) as bad as the guy singing in the crafting area along with the lady who tells him how good his lousy singing is!

I am playing the card game. I have a character who is dedicated solely to playing the card game at the moment.

I don't want to hear the NPC advertising the card game on all my other characters when they're about their business in the major cities.

Try passing buy the fighter's guild (I think) having not finished their quest line. Really annoying lady there too! Someone on the seems to like noisy characters annoying us!

You don't get Stuga pestering you if you can't enter Wrothgar. For people with no access to High Isle the cardpusher is either a bug or intentional annoyance. My theory is the latter as a petty display of indirect agression toward ungrateful players because seemingly low interest to new chapter before release. (Most likely the person tasked to sprinkle the NPC around tamriel just forgot to add the check for owning the chapter but conspiracy of butthurt is more interesting.)

I would put it more likely in the bug category, except it also fits with the "The guild requests your help" series, that are incredibly annoying.

I suspect I will have to do the first quest just to shut her up or go nuts. Really annoying doing that for all my alts when I have no interest in the card game at this point.

Been thinking about making a thread about the issue. Thanks for making it first.
I think that if it was intended, than it's a very dirty move, an aggressive advertisement that doesn't really work but produces a negative effect.
If it is a bug, I could understand that, and can't wait for it to be fixed.
And I hope ZOS will make a right decision here defining what it is.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

Seriously? Wow, so they just had to go and ruin the best place for crafting for those who don't have the new chapter? So we have a new Stuga - but this time for people who CAN'T even do it - brilliant!!

I just made an ingame /bug report about Sorinne Gaerard pushing (what I assume is) the Tales of Tribute intro quest. Quests, cosmetic impact, NPC. I'm not going to accept a quest I can not complete without knowing for sure it can be dropped.

With every chapter release (that includes mandatory NPC yelling / advertisement in-game for all players), I start appreciating this option more.

I wish we could put out a contract to the Dark Brotherhood and arrange a meeting between these annoying NPCs and Sithis.

I've also started to play without sound while doing the crafting quests in Auridon.

Vulkhel Guard had always been a quiet and quite peaceful place for crafting because of not too many players doing their crafting there.
But since they've placed the annoying card game crier next to the crafting board, quiet and peace are gone.

So I just turn down volume while doing my crafting quests and ignore her.

I do not own "High Isle" and have no intention of changing that in the forseeable future.

Placing an annoying NPC where you cannot avoid her will not convince me to change my mind.

    On the contrary.

You should at least beable to tell the NPC your not interested in playing card games, I have characters who would have zero interest in that sort of thing like my Vampire or my Necromancer.

    I would say neither.

I noticed this with, for example, antiquities. You can get leads even if you didn't buy what was needed to dig them up. I had commented that this was pretty intrusive marketing since you can't share them or anything. Seems like it would be easy programmatically to suppress those drops if you don't own Greymoor. It's clearly a marketing strategy.

The fact that the NPC is intrusive and loud.. now that's probably more because it's one of the ways they make the game "immersive." Dragons in your homeland and all that. If they make a change to the world, they want it everywhere. And there is some beauty in that, but it gets awkward with paywalls and when the dialogue gets flagged by your brain as annoying and it isn't one you can tune out.

Now I had the opposite issue. I found it annoying that I chill out in Mournhold, and when I wandered over to the tent of card-playing NPCs they would talk to me but couldn't let me play or tell me why. I think the quest giver should be at ALL of those tents... but silent, not calling out. As time goes by new players won't know that this came from High Isle, specifically. So there should be feeders everywhere. If I own High Isle I should be able to start the card game from anywhere.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.
