POLL: Tanks, how do you feel when someone in the group has the Maw of the Infernal equipped?

"When you deal damage with a Light or Heavy Attack, you have a 33% chance to summon an annoying fire breathing Daedroth that will completely cover the boss and obscure your tank's view. The Daedroth's attacks deal XXXX amount of Flame Damage while blinding your tank every 2 seconds."

Not only obscuring the boss but quite a distraction when fighting daedric foes. I often spend half a rotation trying to kill one when it pops during a dolmen before I realize its that darn monster set proc.

I also have a sorcerer who uses the set and I like aesthetic of it so I don't get too bent out of shape when someone else has it while I'm tanking. I just step to the side, it's never been a major hindrance to me.

I shall question myself when the day has come, where a fat crocodilian interfers with my tanking prowess. :)
A much bigger annoyance is the fact that attacks in pvp always prefer pets despite tab target.

I want it to spawn behind the boss, not in front of it, where I am, causing vision to be blocked and several other annoyances that just dont need to be. Add it to the 'Show ally Effects' list so it can be disabled.

I am indifferent about it (I'm a tank).
So long as people are not wearing it when we are doing the Banished cells 2 or dungeons with a lot of mechanics that rely on visual queues.

Its usually manageable when there is just one Daedroth in the way but when there are 3 it just makes a lot of stuff impossible to see, provided people are willing to change sets when asked in chat, its not a big deal but when they are not, don't blame the tank if the group wipes or if the tank has enough and leaves, especially in some of the more mechanic heavy dungeons.

That all said, cracked me up once was healing a dungeon and the tank was getting all annoyed(literal paragraphs in chat airing his grievances) because someone had the set and that whoever it was, was refusing to change sets, he realized about half way through the final fight in vet banished cells 2, that he had the set on, he apologized afterwards.

I am indifferent about it (I'm a tank).
Many bosses are simple enough that the daedroth being right in my face isn't a big deal.

However, it can be really annoying to waste time repositioning in order to get a proper visual on important telegraphs that can result in my death if not properly countered.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

I hate it and sometimes i leave groups over this set if i'm not in a good mood. There is nothing fun about getting your view blocked by this ugly daedroth. I'm trying my best to buff the dds even if it means using something like spaulder that works against myself, so in return i'll expect a little bit of mutual respect from dds.

Coming from a tank: The daedroth is big, but if you sidestep a tiny bit it does not block the view anymore. So for me it's not a big issue.

The necromancer's HUGE ultimate however, does block the entire screen when I am tanking. Like wtf, why is that thing so huge when he pounds on enemies.

    Something like:

Is a MUCH more disorienting thing. When mobs literally blend together while porting around.

Seriously tho the only time I wear that set is maybe when running dailies or other solo content.
And even then I feel like it blocks my fov a tad too often.
It's like my Warden's Netch. It's invaluable for her but ISTG it's constantly centering right in my line of sight, drives me insane.

But yeah, any group content like WB or dragons I'm wearing something other than Maw.

It can be annoying sometimes depending on the situation and it can lead to confusion in rare instances, but generally it's not an issue.
Maybe if we are in a raid and we got 8 people using it... but most of the time you only have to deal with one and that's perfectly fine.

    I hate it (I'm a tank).
As a tank I hate it. To the point where I don't even like running on my DD b/c I have flashbacks to hating it as a tank.

I actually refused to tank a run if a DD wore it during hardcore trial runs for a while b/c it obscured my character so badly.

A lot could be improved just by having it not auto-spawn where it does (front and center of who its attacking) so that it wouldn't appear right on top of the tank and completely obscure the character model. Spawn it middle of rear instead of front, or probably best, at a 90 degree angle to side of the target.

Mostly it's just annoying and you can live with it in easier stuff like dungeons (especially with just two DDs usually), but when you are doing trifecta attempts in trials, sometimes having yet another annoyance/distraction on top of everything else going on in a run is just unnecessary (especially when it can be fixed by being designed better). And when you consider that most top trials are all magicka DDs at times and you'd have multiple of these spawning on top of you constantly. Really fun trying to juggle ohm's mega punches while being obscured by multiple deadroth and the handful of other things I had to juggle in the trial on top of just tanking the boss. Or trying to block the right ghost in the second boss of HoF while deadroth obscure everything (and it's even more fun if someone throws a storm atro down right by you).

I am a DD or Healer and I love it. (I love Daedroth's and this is the only way I can have my very own Daedroth to play with.)
I use mine while soloing. I've actually gotten used to not seeing my target ;-) , especially in halls and tunnels...

I love it when an obviously biased poll backfires and the OP finds out they are in a very small minority :)

Anyhow, I only use it on my sorcs because it's a decent enough (DPS wise) monster set and it fits the pet sorc builds perfectly. Shadowrend's clanfear would also fit pet sorcs but it's a way lesser set especially since it procs off you being damaged.

Didn't vote because the closest option amazingly excludes sorcs who do have other ways to have Daedroth.

Unlike tanks, my average queue time is 20 minutes and I think I should at least have the luxury of using the sets I love. ;)

I am indifferent about it (I'm a tank).
My mains are tanks and I run this set on many of my DDs. If I do it to others, I can't really complain when others do it to my tanks.
