To say the console numbers and or pc numbers represent the entire player base, would be ridiculous. Just as it is for whatever steam shows.

Well Steam is a subset of PC players, a 20-50,000 concurrent player subset apparently. I am curious though, why you feel one platform is not representative of the overall game health? All platforms are accessing the same game, just getting there differently is all. I personally don't see a difference between them, especially judging by the feedback, all platforms seem to be experiencing all the same issues, once they are all on the same patch levels. I know people on these forums like to play the PC vs Console card all the time, but in the end, we are all playing the same core game.

Because they all have different player counts and arguably target different population groups.

Different player counts don't matter, pretty sure those that bought the game from CDKeys are in the minority, but are exacvtly the same as all other players. What do you mean by population groups though, and how exactly would being in one, affect how someone feels about the game?

Unless the different platforms somehow attract players who think completely differently than players on other platforms (other than their preference on their device to game with), there is no difference. We are all accessing the same game, it runs off the same servers, experiencing the same content, what exactly is different? Basically, I play on PC, are folks claiming if I bought and played on PS or XBox that would somehow change how I think?

PvE streams are a big draw when there’s new content. We’ll see more of those when High Isle content is allowed to be previewed by the stream team. We’ll see build theory crafting and parsing, and housing previews, and the like.

Outside of new content, with a few exceptions, the most compelling ESO streams and videos are pvp. Why would anyone try to stream Cyrodiil right now? Viewers don’t want to watch you disconnect mid fight and spend 10 minutes dealing with “Lost lobby connection”, “This account is already logged in”, “Error 403 Insure you have a valid internet connection”, “this account is already logged in”.

Why would anyone want to watch someone hit their ultimate 12 times and it never goes off, or break free 4 times in a row and die still stunned, or fight guards that are porting around a resource due to desyncs?

Perhaps this is a good thing? IMO games should not be wagged by the tail.

I respect the vision that the creators of ESO hve established and will continue to follow the game.

What vision? Their combat balance shifts multiple times every year lmao. And fyi losing content creators is not good.

I don’t think people understand just how insanely popular this MMO would be if there weren’t so many drastic missteps being made.

    This. A thousand times this.

It just feels like they are sabotaging their own success for some ridiculous reason.

Trending is still indicative of the game's health overall even though it doesn't give absolute numbers.

It is easier to eat pizza or whatever while watching a stream than while playing yourself. With a controller it might even be rather impossible to eat pizza and play at the same time ;) I tend to watch street food videos while having my pizza to maximize the enjoyment of food.

ESO came out in 2014 right? So that's like almost 8 year old mmo now? Streamers for pvp left long ago. The games integrity was and will always be questionable. Lag is punishing to the point LA's do better dmg then abilities. The PvE portions are mostly fun though so the game survives on.

The PC PvP streamers left after New World - Dottz, Fengrush etc... that was the main fall off of PC. Then the PS guys Zilla, Kerkoff, King of Gamez etc left for Elden Ring.

I don't watch PvE Streams except for twitch drops to gamble on crates for the red senche (5 years and still only got the pet).

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

Bottom line point is, just because 1 source shows what is typical for all games over years, does not mean it gives exact and appropriate numbers for every source. I.e..consoles......gamers not using steam.

8 years of up's and downs of player numbers, is in fact normal....for any game.

This game is not dying. It still continues to thrive and add content. Bugs? Yes. Tell me a mainstream game that doesn't have issues. Every gaming fourm I am on or have been on has the same discussions....player base dropping, too many un patched bugs, devs do not listen....yada yada. I still enjoy the game and continue to roll it....regardless of whether ppl stream their gameplay or not. I'm definitely not alone in that 🍻

This fourm only has a tiny fraction of ppl that logi n roll the game....doesn't mean we go by that to guesstimate the games 'popularity'.

Personally I don't think that whether or not they also stream other things should effect stream team, as long as a good portion of their time is ESO. There certainly shouldn't be any pressure to be loyal to ESO, it just needs to account for a decent chunk of your content because obviously someone who mostly only streams like Fortnite or something is a Fortnite streamer. But it you spend a decent amount of time streaming ESO, then there should be no issue being stream team as long as you also meet whatever other criteria they have.

    One question. WHO CARES?

Because I sure don't. So-called content creators for me are just players who show how they play (better or worse) and are not an indicator of anything. They are just ordinary citizens like us, whose opinion has the same value. I don't care how many of them create something in ESO or any other title.

Eso content creators are a real indication of the games current state, many creators simply cannot create the content due to performance and constant bugs, even Arttea an amazing source of ESO information published a video 4 days ago titled "ESO's Performance Is Affecting My Ability To Create Content" which I will link below.

Content creators are also a voice for the player base, often bringing bugs/exploits/mechanics to light either discovering themselves or a member of their community has shared the information which in-turn leads to faster patches/hot fixes. For example an exploit last week with the Pale Order mythic item leading to 400k+ healing per tick, Nefas published the exploit and it was hot fixed within days.

Finally, Eso content creators provide another layer of community revolving something we all clearly love/enjoy, I have met players I play with almost daily in these communities. I think content creators important for the health of the game, any game tbh.

What I don't understand about a lot of PvP streamers is that they'll go to Cyrodiil and start looking for fights to jump into, then if they die they'll frequently start griping about how laggy the game is and that that's why they just died-- except the player(s) who just killed them didn't seem to be suffering from said lag. I don't know if that's because of their various locations around the world, or differences in their internet services, different graphics settings (video quality), different add-ons, or whatever, but it does make me wonder.

I was watching a streamer who's new to ESO and he was having trouble during the Jester's Festival with his locations loading extremely slowly. Another viewer and I suggested that he check his graphics settings and it turned out it was set all the way up to the highest setting. He reduced it a bit and it helped a bit, but it was still set much higher than I'd have gone with (mine is set to the minimum).

During one of Rich Lambert's streams, he made a comment about "draw" calls and how too many would burn out a graphics card, or something of that nature. (I think this was when someone asked him about the number of trees in Blackwood, which they thought was too low.) Aside from the fact that I don't understand how other players can even see to play the game when their screens are crowded with all sorts of icons and things put there by their add-ons, I have to wonder if having that much additional onscreen stuff being constantly drawn and updated might be interfering with how smoothly the game seems to be performing for them. I mean, I know people are never going to give up all of their add-ons, but I wonder about things like that.

Oftentimes Lag happens for one player and not the other (I made a thread a while back of my group being frozen in place from lag while an enemy group ran through us). Then there's also the fact that usually the person who attacks first often gets their skills off before the other other person even registers being hit due to server desync.

Lower graphics settings can help a bit. But this seems to depend on the player in my experience. For some players there really is a problem with too high graphics, on the other hand I know people playing on good set ups with the lowest possible graphics still getting abysmally low fps.

As to the topic of the thread, while I don't really pay attention to a lot of content creators it doesn't seem like a sign of a healthy game. But what's infinitely more damaging than them leaving is the reason: the game doesn't work. If they were leaving because they were bored, meh, whatever, people move on. But the fact that so many people who have invested years' worth of time and money into this game have decided to call it quits should signal to ZoS that people are losing patience with these issues; and that they need to be fixed lest ESO's player retention plummet.

There's still a few streamers, like me, who only streamed ESO, and had never been cared about. It shouldn't just be a numbers game. Loyalty should matter. Contributions should matter.

@ZOS_GinaBruno reached out to me to let me know they do audit streamers and if we see people who haven't played eso in a long time we should reach out to them. I appreciate this Gina and apologize for making any statements that caused you any grief about this. I appreciate the communication.

Turns out - and I'll quote a friend here - "There are many stream team members on the page who haven't stream on twitch in years. The actuality, they are on youtube. The links should be updated to the correct platform, because If anyone clicks on the link and finds a stream member twitch channel inactive then it comes across as a bunch of people on the list not streaming.." thank you Qrähe - and this is why I made the mistake, sorry folks.

Most pvp streamers look to fight outnumbered, often fighting 1-5 player at once. If 1-2 skills doesn't go off, you will die because of the pressure/damage from those players.

I myself enjoy that style of pvp, and at this point 50-80% of my deaths while pvp'ing will be simply because I cant heal myself, after pressing an ability 5 times to no avail. I love this game and wish it would perform like 99% of games in 2022.

Thanks for sharing this! I'm glad it turns out they are streaming ESO. Personally, I also think you should have been a stream team member if you weren't already, your videos are very helpful.

It’s crazy to see GW2 ahead of ESO

They have less bugs, less yo-yo balancing, less deletion of core gameplay, and better server performance.

    Not crazy at all.

Moving on? Never were, and sure aren't now. I look at my Twitch page, and see:

    - Animal Crossing: 2.4K viewers
    - Genshin Impact: 9.4K viewers
    - Minecraft: 17.1K viewers
    - Elder Scrolls Online: 688 viewers
    - World of Warcraft: 17.5K viewers

(and it's past most Minecrafters' bedtimes, it's higher in day)

Less than 4% in ESO as MC or WoW.

Most of the streamers and youtuber's I follow have done exactly the same too, one in particular tried for a long time to engage with Zos about Glaring issues and was ignored. Most of them have now decided they are flogging a dead horse.

And if we here are expected to believe that the game code is being completely re-written from the ground up then Zos is taking us all for fools.

Has anyone else noticed how a lot of ESO's youtubers/streamers, especially those that focused on PvP have moved on to greener pastures in the wake of Update 33 ?

If you'll go on Twitch you'll notice most of the streamers there are PvP players who try their best to make interesting and fun builds and theorycraft along with their respective communities only to then go in Cyrodiil and be faced with severe performance issues which is just bad publicity for the game as a whole if you ask me.

It feels like every other ESO youtuber I watch has some gripe with the game, be it performance or the lack of balancing.

And it's hard to blame them. During streams developers have talked about how one of this game's strength's is PvP, specifically the three faction war in Cyrodiil. Meanwhile Cyrodiil hasn't received any significant updates in 8 years which to me is weird considering that statement. But I guess we all know how the devs really feel about the PvP community as many of us have seen their reaction on a certain Dev's stream when questioned on this topic.

Performance issues aside it's also strange how they barely ever add incentives such as earnable mounts or skins for PvP but you can find all these and more in PvE with every new update, not to mention all the store items.
Let's be honest, the Dragonguard Berserker style for example is not a PvP style, it's a style that can be obtained from a PvP area just by killing the mobs there, no PvP required.

There's also the matter of how badly Update 33 broke PvP.
I won't go into class specifics but everyone's running around with resto staves on their backbar, with insane survivability and no one dies anymore in PvP
I've had multiple occasions where I would run into someone in Imperial City, we would fight for about 20 minutes and then we'd both give up on the fight and go about or day because we simply couldn't kill each other, maybe if we fought for another 20minutes and one of us made a mistake or failed to reapply buffs/heals. And this happens a lot for other people as well (unless you're a Caluurion Stamblade and you find someone that doesn't have 100% upkeep on their buffs)
And we knew this would happen, the PTS feedback thread was full of people suggesting this would make the PvP meta worse than it already was yet they implemented everything without making any changes at all anyway.

And I understand the PvP community is considerably smaller because I know some comments will point this out but I still think that's not an excuse for the complete neglect it's seen over the years in a game that used to pride itself on the PvP aspect.

I'm trying my best not to be negative because despite everything I still think it's a great game but I just feel like as a community we should point these things out more in hopes of having them looked at (at the very least) by the developers.

Seen recent vidoes from Hack the Minotaur, Deltia and others. So seems okay.

Except it's not a 'break' its leaving in anger. Had New world not been crap, half the pvp pop of cyrodil would have permanently moved on. There's just nothing on the map that offers anything comparable yet. Yet being the operative word.

I would prefer ESO get their *** together because this is the best thing going, the best PVP (when it works), the best lore and history and I wish it worked properly because they'd really have more players than they know what to do with. As it is now I started playing SWTOR and split my time because every time I try to play ESO, something is so busted I can't. We wnt to play. Really.

Same for the streamers. I know some folks don't get it but I love watching them. Some do community nights where you can hop in and do dungeons with people far better than you to get that gear or achievement you want, some make you laugh with random pugging (you learn what not to do and its a riot), there's the housing folks doing what they do, some just fish and chat about lore... You can learn alot and kudos to them for teaching.

SWTOR isn't that PVP Strong either, even if you count galactic starfighter into the mix. And don't even mention Huttball.

When I'm wrong, I'm wrong. So I admitted it. Thanks. I applied several times to ST, but it didn't happen. I will continue to contribute any way I can, because I love the community. I'm here if you have any questions.
