Please don't make me redo guilds for new companions in High Isle

It's boring enough to do mages, fighters and undaunted dailies for Mirri and Bastian and having to do 15 dailies of each guild for each companion is just... not fun?
What I would like to see is new Khajiit companion for example to not have any of the base game guild lines but instead have thieves, DB and psijic guild skills, that would be done via activities related to those guilds.
It would also be encouraging people to revisit old content.
The only downside would be that players would need to own thieves and DB dlc's but honestly I think that most people who would be interested in High Isle already have DLC's from 2015.
As to the breton one - vanilla guilds are the ones that suit her most... So maybe some other way to level them up? Or at least make them different from Mirri and Bastian?

I don't mind the mage, fighter or undaunted. Thieves guild on my characters just happens, DB though only a couple of my characters ever started it and one almost completed it. It's just not my favorite and I'm not sure how many people feel that like me, I just don't like doing the whole assassin thing.

So you want to deny the new companions from having those 9 abilities? I like Starfall, Sniping Silver, and the Synergy activators on them; I don't want to lose out on any of those abilities. They're going to have them and need the associated quests to acquire them, it's weird to deny access to those abilities on future companions.

I really don't even use ANY of the abilities from the guilds anyway on either Mirri or Bastian. With their own class skills and weapon skills, I just find the guild skills unnecessary.

But as for the OP's question... YES, we'll have to level guild skill lines over again. As the devs consider the Companions an individual 'person', they cannot just give new companions abilities or guild ranks without them actually having done them.

It may not be in High Isle, but I am guessing that soon enough you will be able to pay crowns to have one of your companions "train" another companion. It will kind of be like skyshards or player skill lines. Once one character knows it, you can buy it for other characters.

All of that just adds to my dislike of the whole companion thing. MG I completed on all 4 of my mains, FG only on two because it's just too big an annoyance. I don't do TG or DB at all, nothing like that in any game I play (outside of Skyrim where I wipe out the DB).

Not messing with any of it. Those are exactly the sorts of grindy "gameplay" I refuse to do any more.

You really don't see the difference between doing 90 times the same dailies for 2 companions that I've already done in last year versus dailies for another guilds that I - and many other probably - haven't done since quite some time? (me, personally, I haven't touched DB dailies since 2017 iirc, thieves - 2018/2019). It would be a nice and more interesting way to spend time - doing dailies that are often more engaging and interesting than just run through the public dungeon to open a coffer....

It's the really the sort of gameplay for when I'm so bored and there's nothing else available and even then...I don't really want to do it nor do I get involved emotionally. For me it's not a good system and doesn't require more 'work' which could be allocated elsewhere.

It wouldn't bother me if the new companions required different ways of leveling certain skilllines. And I never did the FG/MG on the ones we already have anyways, as there was no real need to.

With things like these, I never feel like I 'have' to do them.

My guess is that if /when they do new guild skill lines, they'll probably retroactively add them to the existing companions as well.

I mean, I see that it's grinding different dailies.

It's still grinding out dailies. Heists, Sacrament, Public Dungeons, Dolmens, or whatever else ZOS decides we need to grind to get rapport or skill lines...it's all a grind.

I love how companion level, gear, and unlocked abilities are shared across my whole account... but it's still very boring grinding up those guild skill lines.

But even worse (for me), is having to run through the exact same quest to unlock companions on every character.

Once unlocked on one character, a companions should be unlocked across an account, with the first rapport increase triggering an optional introductory quest.

Replacing one type of grind with a different one doesn't sound like an improvement to me at all. In addition to all three suggested replacements requiring DLCs, the TG and DB dailies are incredibly annoying. How the Psijics fit in is a little mystery to me. To my knowledge, that guild doesn't have a daily quest.

I stopped using them after Bastian started to kite the dungeon bosses and resetting the fights. Overland they are fine Mirri doesn't seem to kite like Bastian. I understand that he is trolling and really likes to stay in dungeons but hey we can always go back or to a new one. Lets just get this one done ol buddy ol pal ! To which he replies by action oh you want me to reset the twins Okay !

I do hope they do add a Psijic skill line for companions someday. My Mirri isn’t interested at all but my Bastian really is fascinated by them. Not every companion has to have every available skill line and every available weapon line unlocked and at maximum level. Especially as we get more, they can be specialized 🙂

I'm quite sure we *will* have to raise their guilds individually just like rapport.

They're intended to "keep the players busy."

Best we could realistically hope for is additional options for skill be added.

Instead of 1/day 10 for doing exactly a single activity ... at least expand the activities allowed.

Any source of guild experience that the player has available to them should also provide experience to the companion in that guild. The lion's share of experience still comes from the quests, but they would also get experience from other activities. Still a grind but perhaps less of a grind.

Until something like that happens, I do the occasional guild quest if it helps to complete any endeavors that didn't get completed doing what I really wanted to do.

Like Elvenheart, I'd LOVE a new quest line of Psijic dailies, and agree they should be tied to Bastian, since he gets so excited about Artaeum. Even if they don't add a new Psijic skill line for companions, it would be great to have Bastian's rapport tied to Psijic dailies. After all, he only has the MG dailies, while Mirri has both FG and Ashlander dailies.

I understand why the grind was a lot for the first companions but it would be nice if they'd slowly adjust down the amount of quests needed every time they release more. I'm being sincere when I say new players coming in with four and then possibly even more companions to level will never get there. I leveled Mirri but not Bastian; I just don't care enough and I'm sure the new companions will go even slower.

Also, I wish Mage's Guild leveled when you read new lore books... it would make finding new ones more exciting on my main since i already have that skill line maxed out.

Considering the sklls from those lines are useful and it would not make sense to get those skills by doing something unrelated I expect we will see the guild quests continue with future companions.

One thing that makes it seem a little easier is that we can do those quests on all characters right now and when we get the companions we can then turn in the quests to level up the skill lines. Just a thought I had seen elsewhere.

It makes sense, but I am not eager to redo TG or DB dailies, especially with Night Silence still a broken and useless set at this time.

I hope the devs will do something about companions in terms of leveling.

I have been playing this chapter since release, and my Bastian is still level 15. It's true I do not play so much, but they level too slow. Companions should have a resting bonus, to catch up. I would also love some XP potions for companions. I used an XP potion, and played a public dungeon for about a hour, while sweeping through groups of mobs. I barely made 15% of Bastian's XP bar. Guilds are an other grind that I dislike. Again, it is too slow. I wouldn't mind if companions would share the same XP bar, or if after you leveled the first to max, the other will level up twice as fast or you can get some shortcuts.

I am totally not interested in any more companions because I hardly get any benefit from them as they are.

Just in case you didn't know: you don't have to do the three different dolmens. You can do the same one three times. I usually do the most convenient one first, then do the MG quest, then back to the dolmen, then the UG quest and then that same dolmen a third time.

Just in case you didn't know: you don't have to do the three different dolmens. You can do the same one three times. I usually do the most convenient one first, then do the MG quest, then back to the dolmen, then the UG quest and then that same dolmen a third time.

Yeah, I do that for Stonefalls, but generally I like to get them all done in one go.

@Thalmor-Nordmaster - Companions are prone to resetting bosses when using any ranged weapon except a frost staff. If using a frost staff or any melee weapon, they will hold their ground, effectively using block, interrupt, etc - and not reset bosses. A workaround to be sure but it does work. A shame that I feel like bow, lightning, fire, resto staves are all unacceptable choices because of that dodgeroll reset-the-boss problem.

When I want my companion to be ranged dps, only the frost staff will do. If I want them to tank, then S&B works well. Though I don't use a melee dps, I'm sure 2H or 2 weapon will solve the problem as well.
