So many people worried about a card game as a main selling point?

Who says it’s the main selling point? It’s a bit of additional fluff that’s all.

Surely the main selling point of a Chapter is … the Chapter… isn’t it?

Card game ? Inside ESO ? Like TES Legends, but "inside" ESO ? I don't like where it is going... I just had this vision of OP cards & random card packs being sold in the Crown Store...

So the card game is interesting, but I
    understand people’s hesitancy with it.

The systems like the Antiquities and Companions are things that you can use in all your game activities (expect PvP in some regards). If the card game helps give you good rewards or something of worth then great, but if it’s entirely stand alone and just a leisure activity, then it shouldn’t be a *main* addition. You’re instead adding a new thing that will just pull more people from wanting to run main content.

Again I like the sound of it a lot! But not as the primary addition. I’d also like to point out to people that while we can also get something sneaky like the champion point redo or the sticker book, those are entirely unrelated to the chapter.

By the way, there is nothing about new companions.

Wouldn't surprise me if ZoS buried the companions feature, it was a big flop in my opinion.

How was it a flop, everyone I see ingame uses them and Companion gear (Blue and above) still sells well on traders.

Most people who cared about end game just threw them away once they got all the associated achievements. They were annoying & useless.

See, the few people who "care about end game" (I guess that's veteran trials, harder achievements etc) are not the majority of the players who bring money to ZOS' table. The majority of players does enjoy questing, housing and the like. As an endgame raider (have quite a few trifecta achievements with my raid groups) that's tough but important to understand.
The social guild I am in does world boss runs and fishing together for example, those events get way more people online than the casual trial runs our me and the guild master are offering.

That's why this game is slowly dying. Doesn't appeal to the crowd that the game needs to survive. Just look at Fallout 76, hardly any end game features and the game isn't far off closure. Once people stop running Trials and doing PvP there will be soon very little reason to play this game from a multiplayer perspective. Why can't ZoS just do it right by investing in all departments of the game instead of a building up one section of the ESO community. Like even I consider myself to be a casual player these days and I still found companions a uninspired, dull and irritating mess. ZoS still aren't given people a reason to play.

I will reserve Judgement until the announcement but am with Paws on I hope that for those of that have no desire to play the card game we can get some benefit from it not just a Crown Refreshing Drink that takes up bag and chest space.

I'll hold off judgment about the card game until I see the details, but usually card games don't interest me much. I just want a Khajiit, Argonian or Orc companion.

Tbh most of ESO population is casual enough to not really visit forums and voice their opinions here. And what is more plenty of population is not at all interested in things beyond questing and exploring. Deceptivelly huge group since they rarely show activities here. This is certainly somewhat dissapointing decision for those who care about Engame but it is not illogical decision but calculated one. Numbers on achivements related to trials show that the population of palyers who care about endgame is not significant at all. Nor the game is anywhere close to dying - it's popualtion is stable.

How tired I am of this constant comparison of who is in the majority and who is in the minority. This is such nonsense. On one of his streams, Rich said that most of the players spent no more than six weeks in the game. Let's focus on this audience, because they are the majority.
Why do many players believe that pvp and pve end game players do not bring money into the game? Where does this opinion come from? Where does this stereotype come from?

For those disinterred, let me ask you something?

You do know ESO is lacking in the leisure activities department right? there is more to the game then combat and adding new features like this increases the games depth rather significantly, this adds more things to do.

I’m not judging the card game before I see it, but at the same time we haven’t gotten new combat-related stuff since the Necromancer class in Elsweyr. That was in 2019....

Still really hyped for the chapter announcement! Maybe they’ll still surprise us with a new combat skill line somewhere.

They won’t surprise us. Every time some players expect this and every time they are disappointed. No, there are no secret announcements kept from the official advertising which has been datamined.

This game has the best combat of any game like it and for years now they have ignored combat completely and more of the same with another mini-game. How about they take the people making mini-game that most people do not care about in the least bit and have those people start working on fixing the bugs that have been in the game for actual years. For example Undo is the Ultimate from a skill line that people have to pay extra for to get and it has not worked correctly since it was released. Mist form from a reworked skill line that they sell to people out of the crown store for some unknown reason since it can be aquired free in-game has not worked correctly since the rework. So instead of wasting time on a Gwent knockoff lets make the stuff already in the game function properly. P.S i have been stuck in combat for 3 years plus....

Card game as a feature of the chapter? Well, it's probably even better than companions.
Oh common... What's wrong with this game lately? I'm scared.
Why not new classes? Why not new skill lines? Spellcrafting? Seriously? Jesus...
I hope this is only because ZoS is fixing the server code and there will be big changes in the future. But... But... I just don't know what to say.
We already have one card game with Pacrooti.

I can only relate to this, i would like something to play with instead of these new systems that basically add just more grind. Disappointed.

Card game = PvP that is not plagued by lag and desync. :D

Wanna bet? This is ZOS we’re talking about, it’ll totally lag!

My initial reaction to the card game is a fair amount of disappointment at another system no one asked for. It probably won’t be as bad/useless to more hardcore players as companions, but it’s not exactly exciting.

    Here’s hoping it’s actually enjoyable, doesn’t feel like a grind, isn’t mandatory, and doesn’t suck…

I have no problem with people liking card games and mini games, I personally do not. That being said with all the things they could have fixed and/or improved, or a fresh combat/skill line a card game is not what was needed for ESO. If you like card games good for you, may I direct you to the 1000+ on steam to choose from.

There’s still hope. This datamine didn’t reveal base game additions.

The chapter’s system is a card game but there is a chance a new weapon skill line (One Hand and Rune, etc) could be added as a base game addition.

This would still have to be locked behind the chapter and used as a selling point, even if it would technically be integrated into the base game. And would therefor be in the bullet points datamined, great if we are wrong on this, but unless they are going to great lengths to bait and switch including having downtime to do it...

Big let down if true. After all their hybridization changes, going on three years with nothing new for combat is very disappointing.

Two years. Do not forget that archeology gave us a mythical gear.

I didn’t forget. Mythics are just fancy set items and we get those 4x a year.

The pup and the cub...why this repeated content over and over?

I hope the card game is added to base game, it should be.

Insight: I still haven't used the Armourer system and I gave up on companions after about a week of using it.

I disagree. If they fully implemented a new weapon type (aka for One Hand and Rune it would be the “Rune” however that would look) then if it drops from any enemies it would be a mess to have it only be for players with the chapter.

With companions you don’t get any companion item drops unless your companion is actually active. It’s not tied to the chapter.

We’ll see 🤷‍♂️ It’s a really tiny chance ofc but at least something to hope for lol

I wont be purchasing any chapters until they add some better features to the game as a whole such as updating animations, different difficulty options for overland, new classes and weapon skill lines etc.

These are some good ideas from this video

I'm of the exact opposite opinion. Because chances are those rewards will, in practice, require opening some kind of booster pack equivalent to get certain cards/currency (or god forbid, leads) ultimately required to get the things you actually want to use in the "real" game.

I expected something like this to be this year's gimmick. I'm guessing they don't want add things like a new class or weapon skill-line while they are still awaiting server upgrades and trying to fix Cyrodiil from the ground up.

A feature like a card game would probably be much lower impact.

So... that's gonna be it, isn't it? No new weapons, no new classes, no skill lines... just, a card game.

Well, I'm going to approach it with an open mind. It could possibly be fun. Possibly. But I mean, unless I can earn something I can actually use in main PVE gameplay, I'm not going to give it much attention.

In fact, I would not like to lose optimism before the release either. However, just think about companions. Half a year before the release, we did not know how it would actually play. And it was only on the PTS that we really realized how bad the companions are. So what kind of CCG it will actually be, we will only know in the summer.
