A card game makes even Companions look interesting in comparison...

I knew I would be disappointed, but heck even I am let down after Antiquities and Companions. I just realized now that the bar can always be lowered.

Make sure you level your excavating skill so you can dig it out of the ground!

I hope this card game is not the "selling" point of chapter of 2022 like companions were Last year. :|

The banner image of High Isle

I've always had a soft spot for those Mediterranean Medieval architecture, so I think I might fall in love with High Isle's player hub. Just reminds me so much about Age of Empire 2's artwork.

By the way, there is nothing about new companions.

Wouldn't surprise me if ZoS buried the companions feature, it was a big flop in my opinion.

How was it a flop, everyone I see ingame uses them and Companion gear (Blue and above) still sells well on traders.

Most people who cared about end game just threw them away once they got all the associated achievements. They were annoying & useless.

See, the few people who "care about end game" (I guess that's veteran trials, harder achievements etc) are not the majority of the players who bring money to ZOS' table. The majority of players does enjoy questing, housing and the like. As an endgame raider (have quite a few trifecta achievements with my raid groups) that's tough but important to understand.
The social guild I am in does world boss runs and fishing together for example, those events get way more people online than the casual trial runs our me and the guild master are offering.

That's why this game is slowly dying. Doesn't appeal to the crowd that the game needs to survive. Just look at Fallout 76, hardly any end game features and the game isn't far off closure. Once people stop running Trials and doing PvP there will be soon very little reason to play this game from a multiplayer perspective. Why can't ZoS just do it right by investing in all departments of the game instead of a building up one section of the ESO community. Like even I consider myself to be a casual player these days and I still found companions a uninspired, dull and irritating mess. ZoS still aren't given people a reason to play.

also the moment TES6 releases all the RP players will disappear and EOS without the core MMO player base will die

TES6 will be like 10% the size of ESO.

Quality != quantity. ESO is huge, but the map is pretty dang boring, especially compared to a single-player game. I've had almost zero desire to explore much in ESO because it's just not rewarding.

I think the card game just refers to Cyrodiil.

It's an acknowledgment that the lag is now so bad that it's like a card game.

(But I still can't wait for tonight's big reveal...... such an addict).

Can I just correct my earlier post - I am no longer hyped. When a card game is the leading new feature and the other features are...... nonexistent...... it's time to pack up.

I am very doubtful that what this game needs to grow is a god damn card game. Who the hell even asked for this? Seriously.

"Give us tavern games" is probably one of the most requested additions I've read posts for over the years, outside of generic stuff like more skill lines / magic wands / unarmed.

If that's an actual chapter feature and a selling point... 3rd year in a row literally nothing, ty🤦

And we'll still buy it to get access to the trial or one new mythic. Great, just great. Can only hope it's some "free addition" and have nothing to do with actually chapter main feature.

I mean, you're still getting all the usual content ESO provides, the card game is just a new system. You still get your endgame trials and such as well.

For those disinterred, let me ask you something?

You do know ESO is lacking in the leisure activities department right? there is more to the game then combat and adding new features like this increases the games depth rather significantly, this adds more things to do.

Nailed it. Spot on. This right here.

And og lordy lordy I want to make snarky comments about a card game but after my recent ban I'm just not going there, lol.

I expected something like this to be this year's gimmick. I'm guessing they don't want add things like a new class or weapon skill-line while they are still awaiting server upgrades and trying to fix Cyrodiil from the ground up.

A feature like a card game would probably be much lower impact.

You actually think they are doing those things lol. That statement released was damage control because you know who stuck her foot in her mouth. This chapter proves once and for all they are done investing into this game. It is nothing to them but an ATM machine now and a card game was a perfectly cheap option to be able to monetize. Legendary card packs in the crown store for only 4k crowns

Server upgrades delayed is plausible because of the semiconductor shortage.

I don't think they're lying about trying to fix Cyrodiil since we have a statement from Matt Firor regarding that and not the usual from community managers.

From what I understand a lot of the issues plaguing Cyrodiil is because the codebase is from 2014 and a lot of the people who worked on it have left/moved so "fixing" Cyrodiil is unravioling the spaghetti code. What Rich said in his streams also matches with this narrative.
