If there was an IDC What Reason' option I would have chosen that tbh.
I guess for me the if\what or why of it doesnt really matter, bcuz it is.
Maybe they did it to appease ppl, maybe not. I just have fun playing.

And I'm stoked about the new bonus reveal! The Explorer's Event is AWESOME, all those x2s! NO matter what zone! :D
I have an alt I'm working to get to lvl50 and this is going to be PERFECT for that!
Plus I never say no to double gold or resources haha

    EXPLORERS EVENT!!! :o

Not only that, but this will be for all zones, so it should be a great time to farm in DLC zones where nodes can drop special style mats, such as Wrothgar, the Gold Coast, Hew's Bane, Vvardenfell, etc. :)

They seem to assume we know from the last time it was run:

    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/60025

Double XP, gold, and resource drops everywhere.

As for when, the last time it was run the announcement didn’t go live until after the event started, so anyone’s guess, really.

I doubt it's in response to the forum topic about free DLC not being useful for people who always subscribe. Firstly giving everyone double drops for a few days has absolutely nothing to do with the complaint and doesn't address it in any way.

Secondly people said the same when Murkmire was a login reward and they didn't add anything then, or all the times subscribers have been unhappy to discover they have to buy chapters or wait a year to get them, or even when large groups of players have missed out on part of an event due to the game's servers going down so it seems unlikely they'd do anything now.

I think the most likely answer is they'd planned it all along, but the other possibility is they added it in as an afterthought when it became clear we were going to finish the main goal several days before the end of the event. That last one would actually be the most interesting to me because it would mean the progress bar was genuine and the event could have failed.

So for the rest of the current Blackwood event each time a Blackwood World Boss that is killed it adds to the progress bar.
Each 25% of progress bar filled adds 2 more days to the Explorers event that starts on November 12 and was originally scheduled to end on November 16....

Not a bad event add-on. But it does seem like it was planned from the beginning.

Anyone taking bets on if we will fill this event add-on progress bar?

I think it's quite likely we will. Firstly the Blackwood event is still going and killing a world boss for the daily quest is one of the quickest ways to get event tickets. Secondly one of the weekly endeavour options is killing 15 world bosses and if you're doing the Blackwood event it's a good one to choose and an incentive to kill some extra bosses.

Between the two I'm sure I'm not the only one who was already planning to kill a bunch of Blackwood bosses this weekend.

I don't know if it's already been asked or stated, but does anyone know exactly how the bonus challenge works? What I mean is, is it based on the number of times the WBs are killed, or is it based on the number of achievements? Can we keep killing the same WBs over and over on the same characters, or are we supposed to be clearing the WBs on the map fir each of our characters?

We didn't know how many pathfinder achievements to get either, it's just a set rate. I'll be surprised if we don't have the 25% by tomorrow just for the sake of having it start on a weekend.

I think it was more of a redundancy plan to fill the event slot if the BoB meter filled early. I'm no less appreciative of the dev team doing this time filler.

I don't think the BoB meter was filled on a daily qouta before the explorer's event started.

Yes, but I'm not asking what the target numbers are, because I know they'll never say. I just want to know if I should be killing all 6 WBs (or really just standing nearby when they get killed!) so I get the achievement for each one, along with the overall "defender" achievement, on each one of my alts, or if I can just stay on my (much more capable) main characters and keep killing WBs over and over.

It doesn't mention an achievement so it's probably just kills, like when we had to kill Dragons.

I think it was planned so we have something to do to keep us in the zone for the rest of the event. Also gives something to the players that do not have Blackwood. Now they might not feel quite so left out. And some players have been asking for a double XP event for a while now. Makes sense to attach it to the back end of another event.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

OR... here's a "tinfoil hat theory" for you. :P They planned it ahead of time because they knew there would be some backlash, and somewhere, somehow, have data to show that this particular order of revealing things was more likely to have people buy Blackwood.

In all seriousness my guess is that it was planned, because if it wasn't they would own it. "We heard your feedback and decided to add a bonus event!" Because THAT's a win... it's a way to illustrate that they listen and respond to feedback, making everyone feel empowered and appreciated. And they are actually quite good at telling us when changes that they do make are the result of feedback.

I still think that neither of these examples are the same as what happened with this event, honestly. In both cases, as a subscriber, I was fine with these giveaways. I understand that some subscribers had issues with these other things but that's really more a problem with subscribers not feeling like they are getting enough value, which is a different issue.

It was the "let's all work together towards... nothing" that was the problem with this event, causing a buildup of excitement, a feeling of being let down/excluded/forgotten/unappreciated as customers, and wasted time for some players. That's way, way different than taking older content and releasing it as a daily login (which is not really hyped and a secret until the month is revealed) and making an old DLC base game.

    Everything is planned.

And I don't know how this would resolve any feedback issues anyway.

Well because it is something more than "just useless DLC that I already will have access to". Also it would reward those who DO have a lot of alts the most who helped contribute towards the Pathfinder Achievement by using all those alts. Remember these players will gain a LOT more gold off all their crafters during the bonus event.

I didn't do pathfinder on either PS4 NA or EU, so it wasn't really 100%.

Planned or not, I have no idea.

I am happy we get the DLC even though I subscribe, I like to purchase them with the crowns I get anyway.

I wish ZOS would get rid of the motif cooldown especially if they are extending the event. Once I get a Black Fin drop I have to stop opening them and I’m getting 4 rewards boxes on 3 toons now and inventory space is limited on all of them.

What are you supposed to do if you don’t have all Ivory Brigade, Black Fin, or structural plans? Do you have to stop opening them if you get any of the three? That is quite burdensome.

I often see when I learn a purple motif page that I get white furnishing plan drops from containers thereafter which is why I ask.

I enjoyed the event but I'm not sure I have enough energy left to take out any more world bosses. More events will be welcome soon though. I might get that exercised cottage in the Halloween event. And there is the next morph of the unstable monolith next time tickets are on sale - is it a plateau? And now another event that hadn't been mentioned. I don't really know if it was planned.

I don't know ... a free DLC attracts people anyway.

However, I suspect the events to be rigged. Especially since Zos seems to give importance to the end-of-year DLC with respect to the future. There is a need to have the maximum of players who have this DLC.

Considering the "solidarity" of most of ESO + members, I am surprised that the event was successful in advance.
However, if everything was planned by ESO, they could have reached 100% in the last days with a false suspense as we used to.
