    The message I got today is that retention of players is not as important as selling the chapter each year, even if that means you have to discount it at 50% and give the 4th quarter content away for free just to increase the numbers.

    Subbing for the year is only $139.99, but yeah I am right there with ya. I sub by the year, buy the expansions, usually the collectors version and spend a couple hundred bucks on crowns when they go on sale. Really underwhelmed.

    For a long time console players were unable to do a yearly subscription. Most of the players I know didn’t even know about the option to switch to a yearly. So yeah some are still paying the $180 due to all the hassle in switching. But yeah 139$ for the discounted year, you are correct.

    There's nothing in the cascading bounty boxes that provide enough incentive. A target dummy? I can get one in game at any time. Atunneable stations? I have stacks of writ vouchers.

    A house would be worth it. Crowns would be worth it. Even a voucher for a month of eso+ would be worth it.

    I have ESO+ which I buy because (a) I can't see myself playing the game comfortably without it and (b) because I want to support ESO. This reward certainly was incredible - incredibly disappointing for me. Half of my characters have got the Pathfinder achievement. I don't see the point of doing it now on the rest of them.

    If they gave only a single crown soul gem as the “mystery prize”, …. ESO+ members could still make more use of it than a free dlc they already pay for.

    As a side note, what are we counting for this meter? What represents 100% filled? How many characters is 100%?

    Don’t get me wrong, I am happy for the people who aren’t subscribed, But in my mind,…. A “community event” should reward and appeal to the entire community.

    The meter is a marketing gimmick, it doesn't actually link to anything, they just move it to promote community involvement.

    People's imaginations tend to run wilder than reality. I think it may have been a mistake to mention a mystery reward and let it sit rent free in people's heads for several days. Because there will always be disappointment when the reward isn't as good as the one you made in your head.

    If they instead had sprung the free dlc prize on us during the stream, I feel like a lot more people would have....well maybe not have accepted it better, but at least tolerated it better.

    So instead of thinking "oh cool, we're all going to get something extra nice" for several days, it would be "oh cool, non-subs and new players are getting something a little extra to encourage them to buy Blackwood".

    I'm certainly not complaining; I'm still getting plenty of goodies like a combat dummy and a pet and free transmute tables out of this.

    And how do you know? could get a motif page in there worth millions of gold which is more then enough t to get a house gifted to you and then some.

    They never shared such thing. Thats why this event is a fake. No one knows numbers which allows them to do anything they want with meter.

    I agree. As an extra surprise during the Stream, that would have been perfectly fine but as a hyped surprise reveal community reward, no, I think that was a mistake. I thought it might possibly be a two-person mount and that would have been disappointing to me as that’s not something I personally want, but it would be an extra reward that we would not have otherwise so that would have been fine. Or it could have been a Crown pack or Fennorian as a companion and I would have cheered! :lol: Now THAT’S my imagination running away! But to find that as a loyal ESO+ subscriber I wasn’t even part of the community reward consideration, that doesn’t feel really good.

    In previous events where they did a counter, they mentioned once that the counter is only updated once per day. Usually in the morning sometime EST or EDT.

    Um... There are people I know without the sub completely confused by this. I don't know anyone actually happy about this, especially since probably half of the story in the DLC is locked behind owning and beating Blackwood. If they couldn't afford the DLC to be happy about it they are not actually getting the whole thing for free since they probably don't own Blackwood.

    Actually, I was happy to pay a sub all these years and help keep this game going so that those 'other people' could play it free. This is a community event that WE ALL were led to believe was for EVERYONE; something where EVERYONE would be working towards an awesome prize. It wasn't an event that was held to benefit the poor 'other people', now was it?

    Only backwood owners would get it for "free", so they're getting full story anyway if eligible to claim it.

    Some would be happy about such reward for sure, not only new players. A lot of people I know left subscription because game issues be it pvp or pve so that's a something for us to be more-less happy about it and be engaged. It's surely better than some costumes, pets or other vanity they would probably shove there if not dlc.

    It's suck for current eso plus members but the game isn't trying to cater to the oldest and more dedicated players anyway for the longest time, pvp and endgame pve are left for their own, even rpers have not much hope left. All they care about is Blackwood sales numbers right now and that deal would make people pay for sure, new account is what matters to them. 19 mil of accounts versus actual thousands of active players, they've made their choices long time ago.

    Oh, well teaches me to not read, lol. Still though, talk about a massive let down for a lot of people, especially due to the lack of an alternate reward for the subscribers.
