I lowkey like Companions

Does anyone else actually enjoy Companions?

I use Bastion to peel stuff for me, and Mirri as a little extra damage. Neither are amazing but they do make things more comfy. They are especially useful on little baby alts.

I even helped some cp1800s kill a world boss on my level 17 when they put an sos in zone. Because Bastion tanked it for them and they melted the boss crazy fast once it wasn't killing them. No swap required to help them.

Yes, Bastion is my own personal tank and he can tank world bosses without any issues.
My friend have Mirri as a healer for when we want to do some dungeons at our own pace.
But for soloing I prefer Pale Order and Bastion :)

DPS companions isn't really useful at all on my main but they can be nice to have while leveling alts. I'm currently building Bow Mirri with a new character.

I wish tbh, it's just not targeted on me personally and lacking any usefulness currently. Also wasn't running followers in sp titles so no nostalgic value.

Maybe with some tweaks here and there, more thematic characters along the way and I'd finally use one for something more than getting achieves and be done with them.

I have a fully levelled Mirri as a dual wield DPS. She is a beast in open world. I love to sit back, point her towards a target and watch her go to work. I sometimes have to use Vigor to heal her on more difficult enemies.

There is only one feature I like from companions: ability to display another mount so I can see two nice mounts at the same time :) For me, that's their only useful feature. I especially don't like Bastian so I didn't even unlock him :o

I will stop using Mirri when I finally get her keepsake fo bonus loot from treasure chests. But she still needs two more levels for that, so in the meantime she is my mount-displaying slave

I hoped that Hollowjack mount would hide her head, to make her more unique than thousands of other Mirri... :D

They give me a giggle. Have one or the other out most of the time as still levelling em.

Bastian's heads-up about heavy sacks and psijiic portals are appreciated when I'm focussed on surveys,
and Mirri's lil prezzies are welcome. As a constant collector am always broke, so even 60g is good with me xD

They are both in medium with melee weapons and support skills. So I get 'pet dmg' with heals/shields. Them doing those things usually POs the creatures enough to keep em offa me unless I want them on me without the tweedles resetting stuff by running away to 'shoot'.

I'm working on Bastian's build right now, but he seems to do pretty well in mostly bolstered and a few pieces of vigorous. Sword and Board.

    Edit
And Mirri has an ice staff (so she don't roll around so much), and then I have her warp strike, fear, and then she does aoe and twilight mantle.

I was running Bastion as a full tank and Mirri as a ranged dps. For the ranged dps, we only use a frost staff - every other ranged weapon and she will dodge roll all over. But with the frost staff she'll hold her ground in favor of blocking when needed and I much prefer that since she no longer spreads fights out. That was working fine until my elf finally fired Bastion for yelling at her when she accidently grabbed a red (stolen) potion instead of talking to an alchemist NPC.

Now, I just use Mirri but for all three roles and it is working pretty well. She wears 5 heavy and 2 medium and that doesn't change. Her jewelry is a mix of damage and sustain and also doesn't change. So all I need to grab to change her is s&b, resto or frost staff and change her 5 skills. Pretty quick to do in the field and she's doing a fine job in all three roles. Nice to be rid of Bastion's whining.

To the original question, my elf has always very much enjoyed adventuring with Mirri. :)

Mine are both set up for damage since I mainly find them useful on my tanks and healers. And for that I do like them. My tanks especially were painfully slow soloing anything before companions without doing a gear and ability swap out. Now I just switch out a couple of abilities and they get through anything at an acceptable pace. And I even get to do a little tanking (or healing) in the process, which is what I made those characters for in the first place, so that's pretty cool.

Some of my other characters keep them out too, because why not it helps the companions level. But those are all PvP characters built with survival in mind, so I don't both setting the companions up to tank or heal for them. I might slot a group heal in place of a self only heal on my bar if I have one in the build to help keep the companion alive, but mostly the companion is just in the background with these characters.

And then I have a couple characters who don't even have them unlocked because I have no interest in bringing a tag along on them and a companion would just feel like dead weight. Mainly my Nightblades, don't need a companion screwing up my ability to lose agro with cloak.

Overall I like the companion system and hope it gets added to. I currently have Mirri with a bow and Bastion with greatsword.

I like using Bastian for some delves, public dungeons and wandering in explorable in harder areas (like Craglorn). Although he isn't leveled up and not much equipped, he is a sufficient support for those.

I haven't bothered to unlock either companion on PC EU yet, because I'm trying to play through the zones in the "correct order" and he's still working on Cadwell's Gold. I've succombed to playing through just enough of some zones to unlock their dailies for event purposes, so technically I shouldn't mind unlocking the companions yet, but my PC EU main seems more proficient at soloing content than my PC NA main is, so I'm happy to wait for a while before unlocking them.

I do enjoy questing with Bastian every so often on my PC NA main, especially to help me solo(?) a dungeon or world boss a bit faster, and I've got both Bastian and Mirri maxed out as far as my rapport with them. But I haven't leveled either one up to their maximum levels, or acquired all-epic gear for them. I don't run around everywhere with one or the other out, although I suppose I should keep Mirri out when I'm opening treasure chests.

I'm not trying to farm the best gear for them, and don't shop for better gear; I just play with them as they are, using whatever gear I've managed to find, and whatever skills I've unlocked on them, and they both seem to perform fine like that.

Of course, I'm not someone who worries about chasing the latest BiS/META builds for myself, so I'm definitely not so OP that the companions are of very little use to me. I enjoy them well enough, but I don't want to rely on them, although I'll happily use them as needed to help make things go a bit quicker and easier.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

Well I'm not worried about the companion pulling agro. It's when I pull agro, you can lose it with cloak, but I imagine if my companion has already reacted and is engaged and fighting it might not work. Don't know for sure cause haven't unlocked them on those characters, but I'm ok with that.

Thanks to Bastian as a Tank(all bolstered gear) I finally got thru a couple of Craglorn quests that I couldn't complete on my own before: The Trials of Rhani'Za, and Skyreach Hold/Catacombs/Pinnacle, BUT sadly Shada's Tear still spanks me...

They are fine. The biggest issue is their pathing and how close they get on you. There are some quest items or NPCs you have to interact with and they have a tendancy to stand right on you so it becomes really hard to click what you want. I actually think they should only be interactable in certain spots, or have it as a feature to just turn off. When I want to change their gear and sets I can turn it on.

I love both of my companions. Bastian is in heavy to tank, and he holds aggro in dungeons better than most pug tanks. If I am using him in overland, he uses a bow. I alternate Mirri from light resto to medium destro staves depending on what I am doing. I am currently trying to get her dual wield to 20 and then I will have all weapon skills done. I don't really like much else about the Blackwood chapter, but companions alone make it my favorite so far.

Initially I thought they were a cool little addon to the game. They weren't particularly useful to me since I can solo just fine without them, but they added some fun.

But then one day I noticed I had been questing for luke an hour and never popped my companion. And slowly day by day I started forgetting them more and more until now I don't ever bother bringing them out.

I vaguely like the companions; but in the crunch they do die a bit. So I looked at overall what I needed, or at least what I thought would keep them alive and fairly useful and have kitted them out as healers.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Bastian I found the setup to use him as a tank at least.

Alcast's website has tank/dps/heal builds for Mirri and Bastion. I favour Mirri as a tank. As a Nightblade tank, she is much quicker to engage than Bastion, and opening with a fear lets me mop up the ranged mobs before they spread out.

I had heard that they do better for tanking (Bastion) and dual wield (Mirri), but I wanted to max them out with the dps gear they currently have now and it just is taking so long.

Maybe I should just switch them over now. My main’s inventory is clogged with companion gear anyway.
